Summers says the CIA could advise the Justice Department that he may direct the publication an unredacted version of "Vault 7" and he needs to be designated for SAMs.

Summers: Defense "squarely raised the issue of ADX. It was up to the prosecution to take it off the table."

Prosecutors "chose to try to keep it available." They tried to "persuade the judge that conditions there were rosy."

Summers makes a passing reference to the treatment one experiences in ADX Florence when put in a cell for 22 hours per day. One of the High Court justices interjects that isn't a barrier to extradition.

Can't take the word of the US. (basically worthless)

Today in court, Assange's defense pointed out that you can't take at face value, diplomatic assurances from a government which was having discussions around whether to kidnap, render, poison and/or potentially assassinate the defendant.

Apparently holocaust denial is not an issue anymore. Lots of people are denying the one in Gaza with absolutely no repercussions.

i'll add a few bits from chris hedges very lengthy column at consortium news today:

If Assange is extradited and found guilty of publishing classified material, it will set a legal precedent that will effectively end national security reporting, allowing the government to use the Espionage Act to charge any reporter who possesses classified documents, and any whistleblower who leaks classified information.

If the appeal by the United States is won, Assange will appeal the decision to the U.K. Supreme Court, according to his lawyer Jennifer Robinson. The ruling on the appeal is not expected until at least January.

Assange’s September 2020 trial painfully exposed how vulnerable he has become after 12 years of detention, including seven in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. He has in the past attempted suicide by slashing his wrists. He suffers from hallucinations and depression, takes antidepressant medication and the antipsychotic quetiapine.

After he was observed pacing his cell until he collapsed, punching himself in the face and banging his head against the wall he was transferred for several months to the medical wing of the Belmarsh prison. Prison authorities found “half of a razor blade” hidden under his socks. He has repeatedly called the suicide hotline run by the Samaritans because he thought about killing himself “hundreds of times a day.”
