DAPL and Cowardly DemocRATs

Poll: who is most cowardly Democrat you know?

Sorry: poll is closed or your registration is invalid or you aren't really a DemocRAT. Anyway, it's my own poll, for all that's worth (polls this year haven't been worth too much as we know). Runner up in this poll is of course Hillary Goddam Clinton who was too cowardly to campaign, too cowardly to lay out a believable domestic agenda, too cowardly to take on the corporations from whose tits she has been sucking for years.

The winner is....Barack Ashamed Obama, the man with hope (hope that he would be elected) and change (you know, those thousand dollar bills that happen to fall his way). The who not only failed to live up to a generationally rare single party dominance of Federal governance and do many things for the many--and who didn't do a damn thing, except sell out the 99%.

We'll get back to Should-be Ashamed Obama in a minute.

First, semi-cowardly, but certifiably stupid Van Jones makes a confession.

“Liberals and Democrats, we see ourselves as champions of the poor and downtrodden,” added Jones, a former adviser to President Obama. But we have somehow let a little camp of elitist-sounding, snobby people come into the party, and it's obnoxious. They talk down to people, and everybody hates it.”

Van, your ears are as tinny as Killary's: the party elites are elitist, sound that way, and salute the 99% with their collective middle-finger. (Although unrelated to DAPL, Jones is a racist saying Trump lost to Medusa due to "whitelash")

But the Democrat bench is loaded with cowards, too numerous to name completely but there are some stellar examples. First we have Cowardly Liz Warren who first disproved her possession of integrity by not supporting Bernie. But now she has the audacity to stand up against DAPL once given enough cover by the Army Corpse of Engineers. Oh, she's so brave.

Not to be outdone by Liz, another prime contender of worst DemocRATic coward is Donna "I've got the Answers" Brazile. Like Liz W., Donna has confidently come out on the side of anti-DAPL activists.

On December 8, Brazile published a post on Medium that pretended as if she and the DNC had been supporters of the Standing Rock Sioux and their efforts to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline for months. In reality, Brazile’s first signs of support came after the Army Corps of Engineers’ announcement on December 4 that the pipeline’s construction would be halted until an environmental impact study could be conducted. Now that the political risk of supporting Standing Rock is mitigated, Brazile is shamelessly swooping in to gain political points from the water protectors’ victory.

North Dakota is a state riddled with subterranean oil deposits, miles and miles of oil pipelines, and numerous two legged varmints like Governor DAlrymPLe himself. Governor DAPL is a cowardly Republican, so we can't consider him in this list of DemocRATic cowards.

Governor DAPL is a firm believer of take the money and run, which is why he won't be running for re-election but just collect dividends on his amassed petroleum stocks. Of course, the Gov. will be first to tell you that he loves the people and the State of North Dakota. Ask the Gov. if he doesn't believe oil is good for ND.

Without a doubt, oil is good for ND

What could go wrong?

So "the Great White Father" makes a speech to assembled representatives of the First Nations wherein he says, at about 6:20 in the video concerning his address:

"You may be skeptical that this time will be different."

No surprise then, this time it was no different. He lied to them as he has lied to millions more of our citizens. He has a few weeks do undo one of his many lies, permanently halt the DAPL.

Here for those of you have have not had your fill of lies today, is the soon-to-be Ex-Pres with his address:

"The justness of individual land right is not justifiable to those to whom the land by right of first claim collectively belonged"

These people all ping pong between extremes. Somewhere between getting stuck on Johnson's war on poverty and stuck on Clinton's evisceration of the middle class is a whole big area of policy that Bernie tapped. The Democrats lose because they are so entrapped in identity politics that they can't even find the bigger picture let alone work for it.

gives the Democrats the excuse to avoid the real policy issues that could make people's lives better. I would disagree that the Democrats are entrapped unless you mean they are entrapped by choice.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

If you haven't read this short and to the point article in CounterPunch, it is worth the trip.

The Democrats “Russia Hacking” Campaign is Political Suicide

Get it? The Dems lost ground everywhere because Obama didn’t deliver the goods. That’s reason number one. Second, Hillary didn’t address the issues that ordinary working people really care about. And what they care about is the economy. Money, security, jobs. Is that hard to understand?

Lots of people knew the Democrats were fronting for crappy industry written legislation without any real cost controls and multiple gaps with unaffordability being the central flaw, but were hamstrung and hassled when making criticism by the world of fandom.

Even then the fight for single payer was with our own party, and the neoliberal hacks on dailykos. We were accused of not caring about babies and eating puppies because we said we'd rather see it fail. We knew it would become an attack against the party, and it did. I'm beginning to think that paid trolls became a regular fixture on dkos right after the Lieberman primay when Kos sold us out.

they use identity politics as an excuse. It's deeply disgusting, and harms the movements against racism and sexism as much as it harms the people they're using those (retooled) movements against.

This is an attempt on the part of world-wreckers to make themselves look like the good guys. They figured out all they need is some Black people, some other POC, and a few white women speaking up for them in order to cover up their endless wars, assassinations, torture, austerity, electoral fraud, theft, indefinite detention, mass surveillance, pollution, and dismantling of the American middle class--oh, and let's not forget the colonialism, undermining of democracy overseas, and inequality under the law here. Having a handful of Black upper-middle-class people and white upper-middle-class women speaking on TV and online about how horrible the Republicans are and how that means we should all rally around the Democrats--and their masters, the wealthy--is all it takes to make the politicians, and their bosses, come up roses.

And always a colorful, enjoyable read.

I had such hopes with the ACA at it's onset, then, like everyone else saw that is was a wuss approach meant to accommodate insurance companies as much as anyone else. What a shitty compromise. I gave him a break falling under the illusion that it was the only way to get it past a republican congress. Nope. Merely masterful sophistry aimed at the working class while expanding corporate welfare.

And the crappiest part is that is all he ever intended it to be. Really, he's just another corporate white guy.

I didn't bother reading the damn Atlantic article (My President Was Black). I lived thru his lies so I don't want to ready white washing bullshit.

"The national debt doubled, to nearly $20 trillion, during Obama’s presidency."
But, I will ask, where the fuck did all the money go? Wall Street and the MIC sure had joyous ride under the Black Jesus.

Gives him carte blanche to do anything and just wrap it up in pretty words. They had it all planned, Durbin and his ilk. Eight years black President, eight years woman President, eight years Latino President, then maybe eight years Asian President and eight years gay President. Forty years of neoliberalism from Presidents that can't be criticized.

I guess I shouldn't criticize an article I haven't read--but damn, if it delivers on its headline, that's a moment of sheer, unadulterated blindness on the part of someone I respected.

and never addressed the worker suppression that wage earners have sustained. He grew up in Baltimore and never mentioned the closing of the Bethlehem steel mill at Sparrows Point that took 30,000 steelworker jobs - people of all races - and the effect it had on the city.

His friend was shot and killed by a policeman in Prince George County, MD, and it took him several pages to mention that Prince George is the richest black majority county in the USA; the legislators are mostly African American; the head of police is African American; and the cop who shot his friend is African American.

Coates seems to think skin color is some magic that confers goodness on those of that hue. Coates & the Atlantic are a good fit but not strong on the class war that most are feeling and not strong on worker concerns.
