Clinton Directed Housekeeper to Print Classified Emails

Staff is staff, little people are interchangeable, eh, Marina? Security clearance be damned!

New York Post broke this story this morning:

Clinton directed her maid to print out classified materials

As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton routinely asked her maid to print out sensitive government e-mails and documents — including ones containing classified information — from her house in Washington, DC, e-mails and FBI memos show. But the housekeeper lacked the security clearance to handle such material.

In fact, Marina Santos was called on so frequently to receive e-mails that she may hold the secrets to E-mailgate — if only the FBI and Congress would subpoena her and the equipment she used.

(snip)

Clinton would first receive highly sensitive e-mails from top aides at the State Department and then request that they, in turn, forward the messages and any attached documents to Santos to print out for her at the home. Among other things, Clinton requested Santos print out drafts of her speeches, confidential memos and “call sheets” — background information and talking points prepared for the secretary of state in advance of a phone call with a foreign head of state.

Mind you this reporting is not from going through Wikileak-ed emails, this is from the pile just released Friday by the State Department in response to one of the Judicial Watch suits. It's worth clicking over to the article to see the handful of instances of references to having Marina print things out or go get information from the secure-line SCIF in the Clinton home.

Santos has not been interviewed by the FBI and the laptop and other machines she uses have not been searched, either.

Nope, I'm sure there's zero 'intent' here to mishandle information. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Despite their obsession with being politically correct, they'll claim that Marina couldn't read English, or if that doesn't fly, that she printed the e-mails and compiled lists without reading anything. If neither of those work, they'll ask why you hate women.

We're going to a results-watch party on Tuesday. There will be an orange(-haired) cocktail, a red-(pantsuited) cocktail, and an "other" -- a classic dry martini. That'll be my beverage of choice.

Wonder how many I can handle before faceplanting?

From Clinton Forwarded Daughter Email Chain Most Likely About Climate Talks (whitewashed headline):

Hillary Clinton forwarded a chain of emails in 2009 to her daughter, Chelsea, that included information, most likely about climate talks, that the State Department later declared to be classified, according to a new batch of emails released on Friday.

...
Even if the information was not classified at the time, it would be unusual for an exchange among senior administration officials to be forwarded to someone outside the government, even a close relative. Steven Aftergood, an expert on secrecy for the Federation of American Scientists, said it was difficult to say whether it was inappropriate without knowing the information contained in the chain.

...
Michael Short of the Republican National Committee said in a statement that the email chain to Chelsea Clinton was “a stark reminder” of her mother’s “reckless conduct that jeopardized our national security and sensitive diplomatic efforts.”

Too bad the DNC can't see that (referring to the last paragraph).

If the bodies piled up out there ARE actually not coincidental, I believe what they tend to have in common is that they set out to cause harm to the Clintons. Santos has served loyally - not her fault her name got out. I suspect the attorneys will work hard to keep her sequestered and pre-empt testimony and inspection of her machines.

the FBI knew all about this. The maid was going into the secure area to pick up secure faxes! Directing someone you know who does not have a clearance to go get that info sure seems like "intent" to me. She's (HRC) directing a chain of events where an uncleared person doesn't just have theoretical access, like all the countless IT people, but has actual access to the physical classified product.

But this was fine with Comey? This doesn't reach the level of gross negligence? I honestly thought nothing about this fiasco could astonish me any further.

Aside from this - how is it that the most qualified, prepared, experienced future Leader of The Free World in history does not know how to print a document?

news in this story. Unbelievable that people in the both the FBI and State Department turn a blind eye to it.

Santos also had access to a highly secure room called an SCIF (sensitive compartmented information facility) that diplomatic security agents set up at Whitehaven, according to FBI notes from an interview with Abedin.

From within the SCIF, Santos — who had no clearance — “collected documents from the secure facsimile machine for Clinton,” the FBI notes revealed.

Just how sensitive were the papers Santos presumably handled? The FBI noted Clinton periodically received the Presidential Daily Brief — a top-secret document prepared by the CIA and other US intelligence agencies — via the secure fax.

This is simply astounding that this maid with not security clearance of any kind could have access to that room. One has to ask, what other types of highly secure communications equipment is in that room? That this maid could have access to the Presidential Daily Brief is mind boggling.

I can hear the maid in the morning.

Maid: Good morning Mrs. Clinton, here's your coffee. I checked the secure fax this morning and I think you'll want to read this Presidential Daily Breif.
Clinton: I don't have time to read that stupid report just tell me what it says!
Maid: It says some people in Bengazi were killed last night.
Clinton: Where's my breakfast?

I saw this last night right before I went to bed and figured this would be a big story when I got up this morning. I'm a bit surprised that every news agency in the country doesn't have this on their front page.

One has to ask, if this SCIF room contained a secure fax machine, what other communications equipment was in the room? One has to believe there is also a terminal or device that connects to the State Departments secure computer system so Hillary could communicate via secure means with the State Department. One would also believe that this room had some form of security access in the form of a bio-metric scan or at a minimum at least a freaking 10-key pad that required a code to be entered to access the room and a method of tracking entry and exit. Did Hillary give here access code to the maid? Or did the maid have her own? Did she have the access code to the secure device so she could print messages from the secure system. Did Clinton give her that access code?

Obviously, the maid had access to that room when Hillary wasn't there. She could have been sitting in there spending hours reading information on the secure terminal.

The most astounding part of this story is that it appears the FBI, nor anyone else, has interviewed the maid or asked to see her computer equipment to determine what information is on her devices. This is simply unbelievable!

If I were Chaffetz or Gowdy the next subpoena I issued would be addressed to one, Marina Santos with a notation at the top that reads, "You have some explaining to do!"

With the announcement by Comey that he won't be further investigating the email issues, I'm left to believe that the Department of Obstruction and Injustice has shut down this investigation with the full backing, if not orders, from Obama himself. Is it too late to impeach Obama for obstruction of justice?

had these emails before they went to State. So they knew about it first, and apparently are A-OK with it. Nothing to see.

It's never too late to impeach, I believe, but they're going to have to catch him in the act, and that's especially hard with a sitting president.

I'm betting Ms. Santos has been whisked out of the country, btw.

These are from the ones the State Department had. Huma Abedin talks about her retrieving and printing emails, secure faxes and who knows what else as if it is nothing unusual. Can you just imagine what would happen to someone not named Clinton in a case like this?

If I were Marina Santos I'd be contacting Chaffetz and Gowdy and asking if there is any way they can help protect her. I am truly stunned over this revelation!

Aside from Fox news and other right wing sites, it's being covered by no one in the US. But interestingly, there is an article from VNExpress, a Vietnam news site in Vietnamese and another in Spanish in Bolivia, and I only looked at the first page of results. Seems other parts of the world see this as a big story, but in the US, not so much. Apparently there are just some things the American public should not know!
