Chena's Corner: Gov Beshear's Lame Remarks Regarding 2014 Shellacking--Video

#4 -- Office Nook -- Chena's Corner -- nook3_0.jpgI apologize for the 'rush job.'

Hat Tip to TT for giving me the idea of posting this video [21:17 Minutes].

Sorry, but C-Span did not make the embed code available, so I had to Tweet the video in order to have a format that I could post here.

Normally, I would have posted this video as a comment to the original diary, but I wanted a bit more visibility in hopes that more readers would watch this truly amazing presentation (tongue-in-cheek).

As usual, the only solutions that the Dem Party Machine offer are those related 'to process.'

For whatever reason, it appears that Dem Party Elites never consider that, just maybe, their Base and the American People are simply tired of their shopworn policy prescriptions.

Or that they are just not in sync with their Base's needs, goals, or aspirations.

Please consider watching this short video--it is very instructive if one is interested in observing a window to the 'thinking' of the Dem Party Leadership.

The embedded link below will take you to the C-span video of the Democratic Kentucky Governor giving the preliminary 'autopsy.'

Thanks!

Mollie

the text would not wrap further (in the beginning of this diary)?

Is there a limit to the number of characters that are allowed in the preview, IOW?

Thanks!

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.

HTML code that breaks the summary preview where you choose to end it, but I tested it and it wouldn't work. I researched it and it's a bug in the software so the the summary break is up to the Drupal software, we can't control it. As far as the limit of characters, i can't answer that with any accuracy, except that it appears to always break at the end of a sentence.

I haven't tried it but c-span videos should embed here with the code provided by them, is it because the code for that video wasn't available for the video, or you couldn't get the code to embed?

answered you sooner.

I didn't mean to create a lot of work for you. I was just sorta curious. Obviously, I don't really have to have a 'byline,' much less a special avatar--just doing it for fun!

Looks like you're one step ahead of me.

Yes, they only provided a "link" for this particular video, so I thought that the presentation in a Tweet would be (visually) a slight step above just providing a text link (others probably would not agree, LOL!).

Anyhoo, just saw that you've found a solution below--yeah!

I will go now and check it out how you embedded the link, and probably experiment with another video in this thread.

Actually, I believe that you are correct that C-Span "embed" video does work here. Seems like I tried it out a week or so ago. I'll try posting one in this thread, as well.

As usual, thank you for all your hard work and assistance!

And CL, too!

the drawback with embedding s-span with object code is you get the whole page in the player, unlike their regular embed code that just shows the video.

when the share link isn't available you can still embed the video using the object code below. Remove the spaces inside the brackets.

< object width="500" height="350"
data="http://www.c-span.org/video/?c4528748/governor-steve-beshear-remarks-dnc-winter-meeting" >< /object >

Scroll down inside the box, the video is there.

I would call bullshit on that. Ever read the party platform?

Neoliberalism and imperialism are two main facets of the party platform. The same narratives about keeping us safe,
protecting national interests and support for the ruling class Federal Reserve and Wall Street/big bank activities, and trade
agreements are sprinkled among the "narratives" they think up to pretend they're for the people.

It's states plainly in the platform, "maintain the world's largest military".

when Gov. Beshear was counseled by Democratic leadership not to run on equal opportunity for health care, education, etc. The Democrats nationwide ran away from the party's traditional core values of putting people first. "The Republicans are crazy and we are not as bad" is not a winning strategy. It stands for nothing and the people see Democrats in general as standing for nothing but more war. So in that regard, Beshear was very correct. Honestly, his speech was not that bad from what I could tell. I think he said a lot of right things but not forcefully enough.

Also his comments about the Democrats being weak on the bench and not coordinating nationally is right on target. Florida should have never elected Rick Scott as governor either time. There are more registered Democrats in Florida than Republicans and Florida went Democratic in the last two Presidential elections. And the Florida Democratic party is incredibly weak.

The national party is very similar to Hillary Clinton. It is afraid to take a stand for those traditional values. It also encourages legacy candidates and candidates who will not offend the deep pockets national donors. And therein lies the biggest problem. Fund raising is more important than policy or action. I also blame the national party for blowing the 2010 elections when they knew redistricting was at stake.

The way I see it is the national Democratic party needs to decide what they want to be. Right now they are a huge fund raising machine and they kowtow to the big donor groups, particularly FIRE. But the people have seen through that and have lost faith in the ability of the Democrats to deliver or even TRY to deliver. It is going to be very hard to overcome the loss of faith in the party particularly when we are staring at major changes to Social Security and Medicare with Democrats helping lead the charge. The Democratic party cannot have it both ways. Either they return to being a party that champions the people or continue to be the corrupt fund raising machine that they have become. As long as they talk about marketing, we all know where they stand and it is not with the people.

Personally, I do not believe the Democratic party can be salvaged. It is far too corrupt to be worth saving.

got about 7 minutes in.

You know, the democratic party could have had me, in a way. I was almost there in 2008 and even voted for Obama. I had never
been a democrat prior to that although when I did vote for politicians, it was usually a dem, never a repub, sometimes third
party.

But they lost me, they actually ran me off, they didn't want me. They did not want me in their party. That was proven to me
on Daily Kos. They don't want anyone in their party who doesn't agree with their corporate establishment agenda.

I've been almost apoplectic over the possible Bush/Clinton presidential race. But after listening to this speech and seeing the other
diary about the dem party working on their "narratives", I realize more now that I'm against the dem party. Absolutely against it.
Those people are nothing but the same thing in different suits relative to the republicans. They're all greedy, self centered,
people out for themselves. There's so much group think and they're so locked inside their little boxes that they can't see what
others can see.

This is why I try to talk straight, plain talk, no bs. Because that's what we need, we don't need anymore of this semantic bullshit. I saw that enough
in my fed career. Sometimes I'd go to Executive meetings as Acting Director and I'd be wondering what the fuck these other Directors were
talking about. They couldn't just say 2 plus 2 equals 4, they had to talk in some kind of weird code where the others nod their heads and
everybody else is thinking, that's why they're smarter than everyone else, because they can say shit nobody else understands but they all seem
to think it makes sense.

They need a "brand." Maybe they can sell soap and wash their dirty hands.

Build relationships with state and local parties. Then do tell me why you disassembled everything Howard Dean built between 2005-2008.

All in all - we manage good but boy do you play bad. I wonder if the last one out of the party will turn off the lights?

He's termed out at the end of this year (yes, Kentucky elects in odd-numbered years). The Democratic front-runner for the gubernatorial nomination is Jack Conway, who ran the infamous "Aqua Buddah" campaign against Rand Paul, and lost by 11 points.

Assuming Rand Paul runs for re-election to the Senate, the most likely Democratic candidate to face him will be the stunningly inept Alison Lundergan Grimes, who failed to win the Coakley Cup last fall only because Bruce Braley managed to run an even worse campaign and lost to Joni Ernst.

A major league baseball team with a farm system as bad as the Democrats would lose at least 120 games every season.

for our 21st century problem. Most of them aren't capable of reacting to anything but their "situation" because they
live in a different world from the problems they're pretending to care about. Most of these people are
among the top 10% relative to wealth, most came from that, and they've been trained to think within
the system. Their careers depend on it, they think what they're doing and how they're doing it is just the way
it is.

The Governor hasn't spent time smoking angel dust with some Hawaiian natives, or smoking Lebanese hash with
a former soldier of the Egyptian army who fought in the 67 war and then meeting with a Full Bird Colonel
about his organization. Or smoking Buddha weed 800 feet under the water with a Native American, a Mexican
American, a New Yorker from Queens and a kid from Nebraska.

It's not that people have to experience those particular things (like I have), it's that most of these people have been cocooned within
a privileged lifestyle where they haven't experienced a fuller realm of life to the point they can relate, they can
understand how it works. Why people do what they do and act like they act in the "real world".

I watched 5 minutes of the Kentuckian Dem and then watched 4 min of Debbie Wassermann (what kill list?) of anti pot fame and DNC redundancy, crossing the aisle, end of the Democratic party. Whew! No wonder dkos has taken to swimming in the muck of idiocracy. Media battles, endless culture wars, and endless useless memes that offer nothing meaningful from the Democratic (dead to me) party, clueless mindless propaganda and fear mongering . Listen to the latest drivel from Boner, Giuliany, Walker, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Jeb, Rand Paul or or any other dead sickie, has been RW looney from the media or the DC kabuki show bomards us with. Then listen to this crap from the 'official' Democratic party, it blows your mind.

Hope this doesn't disqualify me from being a 99% caucus member in good standing but these Democrat's make me sick. They are worse then the Republicans. We all know what they are about but I cannot buy a word the Dems. have to say or vote for this crap. Even on a local level the Dems. offer nothing other then were not quite as bat shit theologically crazy but otherwise who gives a shit your still screwed. We're so screwed and cornered as far as electoral politics goes that it makes no sense to even vote for the lesser evil. I will vote but I will throw my vote away and vote for commies, socialists and greens the unwinnable candidates that are spoilers. If ever something needed spoiling it's our electoral system which is a mockery of democracy and representative government. Really riled me up. I took c-span off my bookmarks the whole lot of these poser pols are so full of shit and funny money I don't want to hear their bs.

This ain't "the other place". Do you remember that Twilight Zone where Larry Blyden thinks he's gone to heaven? Even though he was a crook in life? All his dreams come true. Money, "dames", etc. After loving it for awhile he becomes horribly bored to the point where it's driving him crazy and he says to the guy in charge "I don't belong here. Send me to the other place" and the big man (Sebastian Cabot, I believe) says "the other place? This IS the other place!"

Well, anyway, dKos IS the other place! And this ain't it.

I think, if anything, we're doing them a favor.

Surely, they realize that millions and millions of voters--including people who would normally vote for them--sat out the 2014 midterm elections.

All we're doing here is letting them know "why."

Frankly, I have no doubt that Dem Party apparatchiks regularly scour left-leaning blogs, websites, etc.

I just hope that they get smart and listen up!

Hey, I can dream, can't I?

have taken their most loyal base for granted for far too long and now their base no longer supports them unquestioningly. By the base, I am referring to minorities (particularly blacks), labor, and those of us on the far left. The attitude of party mandarins has been "where will they go?" which is why they have been using the strategy of "we are less crazy than the Republicans." We continue to see that meme on the front page of dkos nearly every day.

What the party mandarins fail to realize is that they are not losing voters to the Republicans. They are losing voters period! A vote lost is a vote lost regardless of how it is lost.

Surely, they realize that millions and millions of voters--including people who would normally vote for them--sat out the 2014 midterm elections.

I am one of those voters who refuses to vote ever again for the lesser of two evils. Evil is evil and there is no lesser one. This is what the Democrats do not get because they are just as much a part of the oligarchy as the Republicans.

I knew that she would not win.

(Heck, I've never even been associated with the Green Party.)

So, I guess my vote could rightly have been considered a 'protest vote.'

But, for a change, I also didn't 'feel like I needed to take a shower' as soon as I exited the voting booth.

And that counts for something . . .
