Brief Update on My Health Issues

First indications are that the "worst case scenario" that was on the table is now considered unlikely. I will know more when the pathology report comes back, but the doctor who did my procedure said all indications look positive to him. I have some more tests to do, but this is a big load off my mind. Still need to figure why things took such a downturn for me, but might simply be exhaustion and stress made my chronic autoimmune condition less manageable over the last two months.

So that's the update. Hope this finds everyone doing well and that c99 is back to normal, whatever normal is this year. Been doing some reading, TV watching (check out Les Revenants - a French supernatural/suspense drama series with 18 episodes over 2 seasons showing on Netflix if you're into that kind of thing, and don't mind subtitles), reading and the occasional review of the Daily Shit (not a reference to TOP, just to stories and reports on current events, news, politics, etc. posted here and elsewhere) I assume the brief flare-up of "wildfires" at the site have been contained if not eradicated for the time being.

All my best,

Steve

Includes some interesting clips of Hillary, Wesley Clarke (talking about when he found out the Bush administration's plan to take over 7 countries in Middle East starting with Iraq and ending with Iran), and Dick Cheney circa 1994.

I was thinking about you yesterday. I hope you spend your recuperation time on non-taxing things. I personally like to do crossword and variety puzzles as a way to decompress. Take care of yourself!

This election season has taken a toll on a number of people -- candidates, voters, supporters, and just about everyone else. Among other things, it has to be classified as bizarre, unexpected, disorienting, and depressing. Not sure what awaits the winner.

Get well soon.

As far as I know, it would be typical of a chronic illness for a flare up of symptoms to be caused by fatigue and/or stress. I hope continued rest gets you feeling much better.

deserve a good rest, so I'm glad you're taking one.

Making A Murderer is an excellent true crime documentary series that can be streamed on Netflix, if you're looking for an entertaining distraction. We're getting ready to re-watch it, since one of the unfairly incarcerated defendants is slated to be released (having won on appeal).

Thanks for the update. And, no--no one's blown the place up, yet.

. . . to your doctor that you were recently in Philadelphia? That experience can be a doozie on the uninitiated. I am blaming Philly for your ailments. Your doctor might, too. And don't worry, we take blame in stride.

Glad to hear the prognosis looks better.

I am so happy for you and your news! As yet another person here who struggles with auto-immune illness, I understand how difficult it can be even when something new is going on. You find ways to live your life with this kind of thing in it, and you sometimes are forced to go where you have been these past weeks. Year after year goes by, you live, you love, you know exactly what people mean when they say "If you have your health, you are so blessed". There are times you face issues even further outside of your normal, and you hope and pray that you can say once again, "Whew". I'm glad you get a "Whew" moment today and I so hope that it extends to all of your tests.

I just turned 68 and I've been at my thing since I was 20, though I was nearly 30 when someone was able to put a name to it and a suggestion as to how to deal with it. I'm sure you know, as another long-term "medical consumer," the cures can be in many ways worse than the underlying issue. My husband and I just celebrated our 50th anniversary, and this man is a rock; he loves me, he helps me so much, doing all of the things that used to be so easy for me, sometimes he cries with me, and he so quickly notices when there are days that are almost normal.

My sister "shared" my disease, but it got her, at age 47. We were each other's support group in a way that was not possible with anyone else. We could giggle about the way we could never keep track of our keys (or many other items!) because we had the "air head" anti-inflammatory syndrome. I miss her so much, she's been gone for 16 years now. I could not ask her to return as she was when she left, but selfishly, I want her here anyway. But, again, I am blessed, because I am still here, and from time to time maybe I can help someone else because of what I have learned.

I am sure that your wife and your children are also letting out a huge sigh of relief for all of you today. Please, take care of yourself, be good to you.

Stress can really wreck your system. I love it when a new Doctor raises his eyebrows about the amount of Buspar I take. It is better than strangling someone I guess. I really want the t-shirt that says: "Stress is the confusion created when one's mind overrides the basic desire to choke someone who really deserves it." I doubt if even this cleaned up version would go over well in a family where my niece's husband is a minister. Wink

I'm sorry I didn't reply to your comment in the Good News Tues diary the other day. I left the diary after about three hours in and went back to rec some comments recently, then promptly got overwhelmed at the amount of comments to reply to, lol. (There were about 20.) I hate it when that happens.

Keep up that gettin' well shit, man! Smile And watch Mr. Robot if you get too bored, it's pretty timely and political. Excellent cast and great writing.

a deadly combination when mixed with stress and fatigue. Each aspect feeds off the other and intensifies the effect of all. I know it well.

As another chronic auto-immune sufferer, I've been experiencing more flairs than usual since the primaries. Granted, my daily life is filled with more responsibility than I can handle, even if I was healthy. But I have to continue working for the $$$, and this disease is taking its toll on my work life, I'm afraid. I understand now why so many go on disability with this category of illness, but we can't survive currently on those few dollars and hubby's SS check. Desperately trying to get us into a situation where we CAN survive it when it becomes absolutely necessary. Not easy, what with most of the retirement gone with the Crash of '08 and life since then.

If you find the way to keep those symptoms at bay, don't keep it secret! Meanwhile, take special care of yourself. Don't let the *astards keep you down!

About Les Revenants--I have watched it, and don't want to give you any spoilers...it was/is good, but I do like a little more explanation with my speculative fiction. Hopefully we can talk more about it when you're done watching!

First - glad to hear things are looking better for you. I have had health issues related to the stress of this year as well and am slowly addressing them. I watch a lot of Netflix while I work on crafts, and recommend Rebellion - about a brief, failed attempt at independence in Ireland around 1916. I found it important because, while it was no match for the army of the British Empire at the time, it turned hearts and minds and independence came a few years later. I get few calls from the state Democratic party, but when I have, they get an earful that their corruption, the disgusting corruption of the primary and convention have meant they have lost the votes of my household, two lifelong Dems. My teen son is 17 and is viewing what is important in a different way. I know that the questions raised and corruption revealed in so many ways will make a difference that we cannot see just yet. Just take care of yourself and your family for now.
