Has anyone read this book? I saw the writer on C-SPAN.
Democracy In Chains: The Deep History Of The Radical Right's Stealth Plan For America. By Nancy Mac Lean.
I did see info about this on FB. Moyers, of course. Given the unrelenting, stealth, long-term pursuit of control over our government since the 60s, I absolutely believe the radical right is the threat we need to worry most about. Here is his article on it.
An explosive exposé of the right's relentless campaign to eliminate unions, suppress voting, privatize public education, and change the Constitution.
Behind today's headlines of billionaires taking over our government is a secretive political establishment with long, deep, and troubling roots. The capitalist radical right has been working not simply to change who rules, but to fundamentally alter the rules of democratic governance. But billionaires did not launch this movement; a white intellectual in the embattled Jim Crow South did. Democracy in Chains names its true architect—the Nobel Prize-winning political economist James McGill Buchanan—and dissects the operation he and his colleagues designed over six decades to alter every branch of government to disempower the majority.
Now, with Mike Pence as Vice President, the cause has a longtime loyalist in the White House, not to mention a phalanx of Republicans in the House, the Senate, a majority of state governments, and the courts, all carrying out the plan. That plan includes harsher laws to undermine unions, privatizing everything from schools to health care and Social Security, and keeping as many of us as possible from voting. Based on ten years of unique research, Democracy in Chains tells a chilling story of right-wing academics and big money run amok. This revelatory work of scholarship is also a call to arms to protect the achievements of twentieth-cent
For them to have a chance of changing the constitution, the democrats would have to lose a lot of seats and state's governorships.
Golly Gee. Look at what happened from 2009-2016. The democrats did just that. I believe that this was allowed to happen. The democrats would let republicans run unopposed in lots of elections. For what purpose would they do that?
We know that the only difference between the two parties is on social issues. They don't have any effect on their master's' pockets. They agree with the republicans on all matters such as financial and military hegemony.
This could explain why Obama was such a worthless president. But he did his job of making sure that we didn't recover from the economic crisis. Income inequality went way up during his tenure, and most jobs created were part time or low paying.

for a constitutional convention and Trump's impeachment. Even some progressives have supported these issues. I have opposed both because they play into the hands of the radical right. People can't see beyond the ends of their noses.

It gives me the horrors to see supposed liberals calling
for a constitutional convention and Trump's impeachment. Even some progressives have supported these issues. I have opposed both because they play into the hands of the radical right. People can't see beyond the ends of their noses.
