Because a plutocracy is what America needs

“January 20th 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.”
- Donald Trump

One thing Obama taught me was to look at the cabinet choices to see how the Administration will govern. You should simply ignore the inauguration speech, except to use it as contrast.

So what "people" was Trump talking about?

The 17 people who US president-elect Donald Trump has selected for his cabinet or for posts with cabinet rank have well over $9.5 billion in combined wealth, with several positions still unfilled. This collection of wealth is greater than that of the 43 million least wealthy American households combined—over one third of the 126 million households total in the US.

Affluence of this magnitude in a US presidential cabinet is unprecedented.

More than one third of American households. Let that sink in before you read this.

President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet picks have a net worth greater than the world's 70 smallest countries, The Boston Globe reported Wednesday.

Needless to say, these are Everyday Joe's that can really relate to you, and anyone else who's recently purchased a country or two. /snark
They understand the poor because one day a year they play-act as one.
Larry Kudlow thinks a plutocracy is a wonderful idea.

But Larry Kudlow, inveterate supply-sider and leading candidate to run the Council of Economic Advisers, has another take, which he published in the National Review late last week: putting the obscenely wealthy in charge of the government is actually a great idea because, unlike the middle class, you can actually trust the rich. Sayeth Kudlow:

Why shouldn’t the president surround himself with successful people? Wealthy folks have no need to steal or engage in corruption. Their business success demonstrates that they know how to achieve goals and convince skeptics that good deals can be made to the benefit of both sides. Isn’t this just what America needs?

That stealing and engaging in corruption of the white-collar variety is a time-honored tradition among the wealthy somehow didn’t make Kudlow’s essay. Perhaps he simply meant that we can trust Trump’s Cabinet members not to steal flatware from the White House.

These wealthy boys are gonna make Hillary and Obama look like pikers when it comes to protecting the rich. I take little solace in the fact that Trump will do it openly rather than work levers from behind the curtain.

@Blueslide No, Obama and Clinton were no pikers. Trump's administration is just another part of the .01% that rule us. Obama and both Clintons have done more than their fair share of protecting the rich.

During Obamas's terms the DP has lost 1000 offices in national, state and local office and yet he left DWS as head of the DNC.
During his first two years he had enough democrats to pass the legislation that he ran on yet he didn't use the power of his office to make the blue dogs fall in line.
Remember how Lieberman campaigned for McCain yet after Obama won the DP didn't strip him from his positions? And that he had been Obamas's mentor when he was a senator?
The reason why he left her as head of the DNC was because she was delivering what he and his masters wanted.
They didn't care that the red states governors were going to strip worker's rights and all the other bad legislation that they did. That's the direction he and his masters wanted the direction of this country to go.
The DNC, Hillary and the DP wanted Trump to be the candidate that she ran against. They would have rather she lost to him then let Bernie win. If Bernie won then they'd have to start working for us again instead of their donors.
Tell me what Obama has done differently than Bush did except on social issues.
Yes those social issues were huge for many people, but they in no way hurt the elite class or their donors.

4. Obama failed as leader of the Democratic party
Bernie is right about this, “There should be no disagreement that the First Family represented us with extraordinary dignity, grace and civility over the last 8 years.” I was an enthusiastic supporter of Obama in 2008 and I still appreciate how great a figure he was/is symbolically. However, the working people of America do not live on symbolism alone. Since 2010, the Democrats lost 1000 offices in national, state and local office. He knew everything that was going on at the DNC, the cheating, and knew that the left was pissed and did not yank Hillary out of there when he could have.

4. Obama failed as leader of the Democratic Party. Or did he actually fail?

Remember after Bush left office people were saying that the republicans wouldn't get back in power for decades, yet in one election they won the House. In two they now own all 3 branches of government and the democrats are helpless to stop them from passing the legislation that they are planning to.
Hope you read this article. Good stuff in it.

@snoopydawg It seems that when the Clinton's took over the DP in the l990's, the primary emphasis was the Presidency. Because Bush II & Company were so bad and Obama promised a progressive agenda in 2008, the Democrats won the House, Senate and Presidency. Then the Dems lost the House in 2010 and the Senate in 2014. We all know what happened to the Presidency in 2016. At the state level, the DP is in shambles. After the Clintons and Obama, there is not much of a DP left. Everything was about the Presidency.

contradiction of Trump's words with his actions? Some sort of mental disorder? Oh, yes, I forgot, may be this one?

schizophrenia
ˌskɪtsə(ʊ)ˈfriːnɪə/Submit
noun
a long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behaviour, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation.
(in general use) a mentality or approach characterized by inconsistent or contradictory elements.

... or may be it's not Trump's schizophrenia but our's, the voters?

Wealthy folks are the definition of stealing and corruption.

Look at the insurance companies that insured the "property" of white slaveholders. Look at the companies that colluded with the Nazis to enrich themselves. Look at arms dealers, land developers, oil and other extractive industries. Look at Mark Zuckerberg stealing land from indigenous Hawaiians.

Show me a wealthy family and I'll show you thieves, liars, and con men.

That merger seems to be complete. I remember arguing with some of my relatives who were persuaded by the anti-govt. rants that if govt. were dismantled there would be nothing between us and the brute power of the corporate raiders. Always got a puzzled look when I said this. Tried to explain there can be no democracy -= or protection of basic rights if we report directly to the same corporations who broke their employment contracts with workers many years back. What Hillary would have done clevely and deceptively Trump is doing openly and in our faces. And Carl Icahn will be his special advisor. And the Dems are pretending that it's all a matter of hearings and vetting. The nature of resistance must rapidly evolve in recognition of where we are. The mass marches are a great indicator that the people want something else -- and that they were not enfranchised in the fake election to assert their will. But how do we resist and move forward in a regime that will silence dissent and rule by shock and awe procedures?
