Attempt No2 to post an image:

No luck. I hit "insert image" below and "file browser -- mozilla firefox" crashes my computer. Can't download from my computer to mozilla file, and then to paste to story or comment!

Yep, it works. Except instead of "browse" the second time, it says "Choose File".

So, change browsers?

blocker on maybe? Because those screens look sort of like pop-ups to me. And I don't use a blocker.

I've had one problem but have gotten around that easily.

The steps, for me, are these:

1. put photo on my computer (if it's on the net, right-click, save image as....)
2. click that photo icon right above where I'm writing my comment
3. click "browse"
4. wait for the file browser to load, then "upload from computer"
5. find the photo, click on it, then click "send to editor"
6. it then goes into the original browse box, so I click OK

which step is the problem? 2?

I am, but get the second screen for browse, do not get one for upload from computer. Am I just impatient? I do not get an alarm about a "bad" popup. Maybe I am missing "send to editor" or did not know what that meant. Lemme try:wolfe island.jpg

I will write down the steps until I have them in memory. TY That image (not mine) are people skating on the St Lawrence river with some of the turbines on Wolfe Island, Ontario behind.

I cannot upload stuff I have put in PDF. Crap. I have my iPhone on my computer, but can't find it. I guess I have to go through the phone? Somehow?

right click the image in the PDF and save it to your computer? If you can, and you should be able to, then you can upload it to c99p.

The extension must be gif jpg jpeg and png.

There's no way to select an image in a PDF. You have to clip the photo with grabber or some image capturing utility. Save what you grabbed to your computer with one of the above extensions, then upload it.

If the image is on the internet or you can find it there, you can bypass your computer. Right-click on the internet version and select "copy image address." Paste that in the URL box on the c99 image upload dialogue box, and upload that.

Hey, jtc. Can a user create a folder in the c99 image files directory? Then I could find my stuff. An alias can still show up in the directory, if that is desirable. Otherwise, a naming protocol that appends the username or date to the front of the file name is one way to tame the Big Data monster.

I've pulled images from PDFs before by using a selection tool, then right click and save as. That doesn't work on all PDFs though.

Yeah, it's possible to create image sub directories but with over two thousand members, I'm seeing a mass of individual folders that will create more confusion than we already have, which would probably amount to a massive headache for me. I mean, many folks can't figure out how to use the uploader as is, and then adding an extra step selecting the right folder out of hundreds. I shudder.

There''s a Perl script module out there somewhere that already does all that and facilitates posting on Drupal, etc. No need to reinvent the wheel. That would be fun to find.

(I meant a directory for only me [heh].)

I think we're talking about the same process re: PDFs. I just added a selection utility and probably made it more complicated than it had to be. Didn't know some PDFs had loose standards.

In other news, I'll be shooting you a message later on.

with Android. I had to tell it to upload a "Document" (and had to place a document in that folder for Document to appear as a choice), then it let me choose folders and I could choose my Pictures folder and proceed.

Edit: Meant this to appear in response to riverlover! Will post there too.

even though it was way down the thread.

JtC, maybe add a way to figure out the "parent" comment like they have over there? Is there already a button here and I'm not aware of it?
