Album of the Week 3-9-24
Afternoon folks!
There's a pile of music this week. Starting off with the blues, we've got albums by Koko Taylor, Roosevelt Sykes and one by Bobby King & Terry Evans who are often known as Ry Cooder's backup singers. Ry Cooder plays guitar on the whole album. After that there's an older Climax Blues Band album, imo their best, followed by an 80's Savoy Brown concert dedicated to their hits.
After that we've got some folk-blues with Luther Dickinson & The Cooperaters (you might know Dickinson from the North Mississippi Allstars) live and a Chris Smither studio album.
Finishing up, in the diversity department, there's an instrumental album from Richard Thompson.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the tunes!

evening qms...
i've seen him a couple of times at festivals, but the best show i saw was when he played a church basement in baltimore with a small audience from the folk music society. he plays a mean acoustic foot.
have a great weekend!
Thanks for the tunes, Joe
I like to listen to your selections while ridin' my stationary bike.
You're pushing the 30 minute mark, but it's ok, I need the added exercise.

great sounds Joe!
HI Joe,
Great sheet mon! That Richard Thompson was some fantastic fingerin'. I had not heard that Climax Blues Band album in probably nearly 45 years. It was great, and agree, their best work. But what was Kim Simmons on, did he go through a white powder period? The tempos are so fast on a bunch of it, I can't believe it. I like the slower versions but maybe biased since that was how I learned them.
Thanks for the continuing musical edumacation!
