Album of the Week 12-9-23

Afternoon folks!

This week we start out with some really fun New Orleans funk from the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, followed by an album by Howlin' Wolf's horn player for many years, Eddie Shaw. After that we've got some r&b from The Persuaders, some folks will recognize the title cut because of The Pretenders cover of it. After that there's blues rock from Elvin Bishop with a double live album, followed by an album of jazz-blues-rock fusion from Harvey Mandel and another fusion album from John Mayall. After that, in the diversity department we've got a Los Lobos album and a 60's pop-psychedelic album from The Lemon Pipers.

Have a great weekend and enjoy!

Here 'tis:

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band - Mardi Gras In Montreux, Live

Eddie Shaw - King Of The Road

The Persuaders - Thin Line Between Love And Hate

Elvin Bishop - Raisin' Hell

Harvey Mandel - Shangrenade

John Mayall - A Banquet In Blues

Los Lobos - Kiko And The Lavender Moon

The Lemon Pipers - Green Tambourine

I'm sucker for horns, and 'The Persuaders' is the perfect name for such a soave foursome.

when a friend of mine played that persuaders album for me the first time, i misread the album cover and thought that it was a persuasions album and i was expecting a capella music. i liked it anyway. Smile

some Los Lobos concerts fairly closeby, and they ranged from $200 to $575.
I will enjoy the album, and thanks, joe.

it's outrageous what concert tickets are going for these days for popular "name" bands. i've skipped some performances in the last few years that i would have liked to see because i just couldn't see paying the kind of money that the promoter was asking.

los lobos has a really excellent live album (i think it's titled something like "live from the fillmore") that might fill in.

@lotlizard What a powerful, visual statement. And, sadly, a true one. Sad
