An account of the Kentucky State Convention
Found this on Facebook last night:
Yesterday's Kentucky Democratic Party State and Congressional Convention in Louisville was not Nevada by any means. While I did get elected as a pledged KY Bernie Delegate, some underhanded "fancy footwork" went on during the day. Here's the scoop:
First, when put in control the "Good ol' girls are now just as wily and conniving as the "Good ol' boys." Everything is almost above board but not quite, making you ask yourself "Was that thing she just did really ethical??"
Second, operating under a gauze veneer of being "inclusive," the female state party chair used a "lightning" nominating technique: An "established" Dem would be nominated and seconded followed a NANOSECOND later by a motion to close the nominations, a LIGHTSPEED second and Boom, the insider was elected. It became QUITE obvious to us Berners that the establishment folks had rehearsed this and were hellbent on having their preferred candidate installed unopposed.
Several times Hillary supporters tried to pass themselves off as Berners in order to be elected as Bernie Philly Convention delegates. We had heard this happened in other states and were ready for it.We Berners were new to all this and were left with our mouths hanging open on how cleverly these politicians move. Slick, and not in a nice way!
State Chairwoman Sany Overly (lawyer/engineer/politician) should be embarrassed for stooping to this, and the MANY other state Democratic officials in the room including Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (daughter of Hillary-supporting Super Delegate Charlotte Lundergan) and former Governor Beshear witnessed the whole thing and were, in my view, complicit in what she did. This personally irked me as I financially supported Alison in her last two campaigns. No more.
So current KY Democratic establishment politics is very pro-status quo. They are MOST uncomfortable that we Berners may rock their comfy boat. Only those politicians on the Berniecrat path can break the cycle and give us a future to believe in!

Some similar things happened at the Colorado caucuses at the county level, at least in my county. After that, I didn't bother trying to get named to go to District or State.

So what was the delegate count going to the convention?
The vote was only 1900 apart, so the count should be an even split.

Over the years, I've tried working within the Democratic Party in Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arizona. Your story would be just as accurate for any state convention from what we see and read.
I have encouraged many millennials to register as Democrats in order to vote for Senator Sanders in the primary. It is my hope some will continue the struggle to reform the party from within. Others, like myself are ready for a "political revolution". A movement that continues beyond this year's primary and general elections.

More grounds for an Indie run
More and more I feel like Bernie cannot let this moment pass. He must see that there is NO WAY that the Party will play fair with him, or EVER play fair with progressives that get in the way of their favored corporate fundraising backed candidates.
Maybe, just maybe, he has been using this entire primary to prove his point. That the Democratic Party, that for so long he would not join, really is incapable of playing fair with progressives, or really even embracing the most important parts of the progressive policy agenda. And that voters like me, who have ALWAYS been Democrats, now can see once and for all that the progressive lawmakers in this party are the show ponies to excite the base, and nothing more. Bernie's campaign will go all the way to the convention, where his critique of the corporate fat cat shoulder rubbing that always goes on will be in full display, as HRC and Chuck Schumer sell policies to the highest bidders. At that moment, when his case had been made, through months of campaigning, and giving the party and the media and the surrogates and the sycophants more than enough rope to hang themselves on the folly of their lies, it will be time for him to make the biggest decision in American politics since Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
It will be time to decide if he should leave the party, and lead his voters in to the political wilderness. Because in reality they are already there in the wild. I think he can leave the party, and should. And now I am going to publish my diary explaining how he can beat Trump and HRC in a 3 way race.

Per Wiki, Sannie Overly used to be the president of the Bourbon County Bar Association. I'm sure that sounds a lot more fun than it is!

Yes Hillary and Bernie split the delegates evenly. . .that is if no shenanigans got past me (and that is a real possibility). . .hard to watch a politician who is "tap dancing" quickly. Those folks could be on Dancing with the Stars!!
