Dobson: Not enough transpeople being shot

Writing for his organization Family Talk, James Dobson (surprisingly not dead yet) has a solution to the bathroom issue: he wants to see more shootings of transgender people, God willing!

Dobson identified the source of his strong beliefs about the correctness of separate boys’ and girls’ bathrooms back to an incident in third grade, when he accidentally walked into the girls’ room after mistaking its door for his classroom.

I was mortified beyond belief. I sneaked back into class and looked at the floor, wondering who might have witnessed my unthinkable crime,” he wrote. “That was decades ago, but I haven’t forgotten my humiliation. The cardinal rule is that boys and girls never entered each other’s private facilities. Never!

--Dobson

Dobson is furious that the Obama administration is supporting transgender kids.

Furious, and sick to his stomach, Dobson worries that sex-absorbed adolescent males will ogle the bodies of pubescent girls, or even take showers with them. He wants to know whether his readers are as outraged as he is at a president who is “warping our children?”

Ahem, that is not happening. Only a willfully misinformed bigot who refuses to learn the actual science facts about trans people would believe something so ridiculous.

--Evan Hurst, Wonkette

Obama, acting like a king, is wielding dictatorial powers never envisioned in the law. He is determined to change the way males and females relate to one another, and worse, how children perceive themselves. If you are a married man with any gumption, surely you will defend your wife’s privacy and security in restroom facilities. Would you remain passive after knowing that a strange-looking man, dressed like a woman, has been peering over toilet cubicles to watch your wife in a private moment? What should be done to the pervert who was using mirrors to watch women and girls in their stalls?

--Dobson

THERE IT IS. Senile dumpster fart James Dobson thinks “strange-looking” men dressed like ladies stand up on top of toilet “cubicles” to watch your helpless wife take a whiz. He believes these same men use some kind of ninja mirror action to watch your helpless daughter pee in the stall, which must involve a LOT of mirrors, unless your helpless daughter didn’t close the door to the stall. He also apparently seems to think there ARE no stalls, because here come all the men, unzipping and pissing at your wives and daughters.

--Hurst

What action does Dobson propose?

And his yearning response is to ask why nobody is shooting these people dead, like they woulda in the good old days.

--Hurst

If you are a dad, I pray you will protect your little girls from men who walk in unannounced, unzip their pants and urinate in front of them. If this had happened 100 years ago, someone might have been shot. Where is today’s manhood? God help us!

--Dobson

It is not clear if Dobson is aware that he is using the language of protecting a woman’s honor by killing those who might violate it, but his language is reminiscent of the ways that mobs were whipped up to hang black men and boys for perceived slights to white women. His argument connects his beliefs that Obama is a tyrant with his beliefs that any confusion about gender identity “must be seen as damaging not only to our sons and daughters but also to the long-term stability of society itself.”

We must fight to protect our home and families from politically correct politicians who would create new entitlements that take away our liberties. There is no time to lose. Our children hang in the balance.

--Dobson

What an ass! How do people like him survive and have families? You'd think he wouldn't be able even to have sex, the way he thinks.

has always been about wanting to do violence to somebody or other. He made his bones advocating that parents should beat the tar out of their children. He is a man who was born old and in the way, but these days, at age 80, it's like he's from another millennium. Which, in fact, he is. He is Old Man Shouts At Cloud, and his world, it is over.

It takes them that long to learn what they're meant to learn when they set sail in the first place.

Strike that. This is actually hell and he'll live to 120, and he's to repeat it all over and over again until he finally gets it right.

Stubborn geezer would have made "Groundhog Day" into Wagner's Ring cycle and still swear up and down that it isn't his own actions that prolong or end it...

This just takes his inflammatory rhetoric up one more step. It crosses a very bright line when you begin to suggest killing people for no other reason that you find their existence offensive to you. In effect, this is a call to any unhinged lone wolves out there to go hunting for transgender people.

the same way the Boko Haram and ISIS groups are Muslim -- it's a very narrow, fundamentalist/literalist view of the world and their holy books that drives their extremism. Then again, if/when Jesus comes back to Earth He should probably get a good lawyer and sue the likes of Dobson, Robertson, et al for defamation of character.

Oh. The juicy irony that would entail.

Jesus: I understand you've been preaching against my gospel?

Dobson: I am upholding the faith in your name.

Jesus: In My Name? Jesus H. Christ (as I call Mysef) how dare you take my words, my blessings upon the people and distort, lie, and be an all around asshole on accepting those who are different. The only reason you might. get to heaven is I once said "Suffer the fools and chijdren unto me" You are a fool and shall serve your repentance with those whom you maligned and lied upon.

Dobson: If that be the end, then send me to Hell.

Jesus" This IS your hell.

There is nothing Jesus Christ - like about any of that bullshit coming out of Dobson.

It grieves me that evangelical christianity doesn't follow Christ. Not even close. The Dalai Lama follows Christ. Most atheists I know follow Christ.

A lot of people, of many or no particular faith, live within the example of Jesus of Nazareth. Unfortunately, not a lot of Christians do. Jimmy Carter does, which may be why so man Christians have hated him for so long.

the example of Christ than you may think -- but they're not the ones getting airtime on the talking head shows and the like. They're just out their doing the boring stuff like feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, clothing the naked, visiting those in prison...you know, the stuff Jesus talked about in Matthew 25.

when you get down to the people . . . there are many who truly follow Christ like in Matthew 25. They come from all denominations and groups.

The loud ones drown them out. Preachers are largely responsible for "leading the little ones astray." Why at this time are they drumming up hate and promoting greed?

By embracing reproduction/sexual issues, they have left the gospel, as Jesus is not recorded as ever commenting on these things. What he did do, was treat women with total respect and equality, lifting them at every opportunity. And in Matthew 19 Jesus clearly said that traditional marriage is not for everybody and that some people are born that way.

But like he said, "you tithe of your spices . . . mint dill cumin . . . but neglect the more important matters = mercy, justice, and the love of God." (paraphrased)

I could go on . . .

In the article this is quoted

It is not clear if Dobson is aware that he . . .

While I cannot "prove it" Dobson is fully aware of what he is doing. There is no question of what he is doing. Making up imaginary evil to be self righteously attacked and slain has a long and sordid history.

I have an idea: Let's proclaim "Honorable women do not display their ankles in public." and look the other way when "ladies of the evening" get what they deserve. Yea, that's a good idea, what could possibly go wrong? Well, to be fair (I suppose) most were not happy with Jack. Dobson (spiritually if not literally) is responsible for Brandon Teena of Falls City, Nebraska. I am sorry if this hits a bit "close to home" but Falls City is way too close to my front door and the event is way to close to this time. Dobson and his ilk are very dangerous and need to be isolated from civil society as much as possible.

Tell me about it! I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is my understanding that Dobson does as well. He and his nefarious organizations are way too close to my front door!

I and mine were here first, by a good hundred years. Dobson can take his fascist ass back to California whence he came.

Dobson is the same one who proposed to break children's will by beating them until they stop crying. He is a main proponent of physical child abuse. Unfortunately many fundamentalist church members in Dominica think this monster sits at the foot of Jesus and thus feel justified in beating up their kids. I'd be interested in the demographics in the South as to Democratic Party supporters of Dobson's ideology Presidential preferences.

It's especially bad when children are "home-schooled" with religious texts. They're all but blocked from chances to think for themselves, to learn critical thinking skills, to explore myriad different ways of seeing the world. Instead, they're indoctrinated inside a bubble.

The cruelty of this may not be immediately apparent to most people, but it exists in the results and the narrowness of the child's life of the mind. And recent studies have shown that children raised to be religious -- the studies focused on Christians and Muslims -- are far more likely to be selfish, greedy, and mean toward others.

"The justness of individual land right is not justifiable to those to whom the land by right of first claim collectively belonged"

Diomedes77's picture

It's long past time we stop deluding ourselves about ancient religious manuscripts. It's long past time that we shun the use of those texts as any sort of guide for living in a modern society. The bible, especially. It is filled with far too much hate, misogyny, racism and bigotry, far too many genocides, far too much sadism, etc. etc. -- and most of that comes from or on behalf of the god of that book.

Just in Deuteronomy and Leviticus alone, we find that god issuing death penalties for the following:

Eating shellfish
Wearing mixed fabrics
Getting tattoos
Planting more than one crop in a field
Talking back to one's parents
Being an unruly child
Failing to be a virgin bride
Failing to scream out loudly enough when raped in the city
Adultery
Divorce -- which is considered adultery

There are dozens more of the most absurd calls for the death penalty, and when added to his numerous genocides, paint the picture of the most monstrous father-god in all of organized religion.

It's actually quite insane that we ever let organized religions, especially the three monotheisms of the Levant, take such control over our societies. It's time we finally cast off all the monsters in our midst, with religion and capitalism being two of the worst in history.
