If this were to happen, our party’s voters of color and the woman they back would be nullified in favor of the white male candidate predominantly supported by white men. This doesn’t mean that those pushing for this outcome, or Bernie Sanders himself, are racist. But it does betray a breathtaking amount of white privilege—a willful refusal to see that the policies they are advocating, for the benefit of themselves, would once again disenfranchise communities of color. They’d get the outcome they wanted, so what’s wrong with that?
To be clear, if you are advocating for Bernie’s superdelegate coup, you are not racist. You certainly have an autocratic lack of respect for the will of the voters, but that doesn’t make you racist. But the outcome of that superdelegate coup would absolutely be racist, And sexist.

But it's a visceral thing when, like Barbara Boxer, they're yelling "Hillary has more votes! yay!" and blowing kisses - then tightening their snooty little mouths and saying those evil lefties made them fear for their lives. I Think It Was Quite Influential.
It hit activists hard. There were some fantastic writers there. It broke major stories, it created strong political memes which were picked up and actually acted on in the national and state levels.
I think it has great impact, still, on activism. It has been a tremendous lightning rod, short circuiting the Left for a decade. Now it is a kamikaze attack vehicle that is being shot at the American Left. I think there's plenty of powder in there to harm a populist movement.

Earlier today, I wanted to check out some comments that people made when Bill Moyers (Bill Fucking Moyers!) posted a diary on Kos. But with Kos's screed about racism (changes some words around it sounds almost exactly like Rush Limbaugh), I'm done. No need to apologize.

I've spent a fair amount of time analyzing the messaging on right wing radio, and tracking talking points.
And, for the past few weeks, I've really been getting a Limbaugh vibe from c99ers reporting on these incidents and describing their reactions.
It is exactly how folks on the left reacted when I showed them an occasional Limbaugh's rant. But what struck me was their interactions with TOPper community members, some who they knew well. It was strongly reminiscent of the signature way Limbaugh used his "Dittohead" followers. The things they said, and the furious recitation of the "talking points" all co-mingled with an undertone of desperation for Rush's approval — it's a very creepy re-enactment.

I don't even have any responses from anyone in the last 30 days. That page is totally blank. I want to support the Bernie diaries but not at the expense of my mood. The place so thoroughly pisses me off, I really am better off not going there. Do I have a hard and fast resolution to never click it again? I'll click it when it suits me. The dkos habit however is slowly going away.

Maybe something is wrong with me
Maybe I'm overly aloof, but seriously, I just do not go there. It holds no interest to me. I'm not even tempted. I suppose I've been like this in previous breakups too. It's very, very easy for me to walk away from things in general and never think about them again. Then one day, maybe I will, and then I won't again. I used to think more people were like that until people started to say "You're really aloof" or sometimes "You're really Stoic."
Maybe some combination of both. Unsure. I just don't go there though. I will someday, perhaps, but the sheen is gone for now, and I don't care about going one way or another -- it never even enters into my consciousness. Perhaps because I am in love with all of these new places, people, and ideas. Maybe if I'm ever in the DK neighborhood, I'll stop by and see if the area has improved. Otherwise, no interest. It's like, it leaves me cold inside and a bit bored to think about it. I'm surprised to type this much about it, but I feel some need to explain since people really must wonder since I don't go there, don't read, don't care about the meta-drama there, don't log in and tip, nothing.

I deleted the 14 ear old bookmark (only my Atrios bookmark is older) shortly after the banning, and avoided most of the Look AT This Train Wreck Of A Post links, but the couple times I relapsed I was quickly reminded that not only is it as bad as I thought, but worse, and my brain is still trying to process how it could go the way of Little Green Footballs like this.
Oddly I don't do this with relationships, which I can and do easily walk away from when they become dysfunctional. But to see a whole community lose its identity over one not even charismatic [cult?] leader?

started getting really ugly over there in January/February I got disabled from commenting for a few days (or week can't remember) and all the yak was about "we're only interested in HRC support here" ... I just got sick of it and was sent off for work to another state... looked at some of the stories twice while I was away from home for 2 months for about 5 minutes each time... never commented. And haven't been back since, I had some mild withdrawal symptoms but the place was too toxic... haven't been back since Feb.... I'm not the slightest interested in what is being posted or commented over there any longer. There is nothing there to miss... was pretty surprised my diatribes against current trade policy (FreeTradeIsYourEpitpah) didn't resonate there with as many people who I thought were democrats or thought like a democrat should. I see nothing democratic about our trade agreements .. they are the most corporatist/fascist policies passed in this nation by far in my lifetime is my opinion. There is nothing but the Clintons written all over these policies (along with other like minded corporatist democrats and republicans) and can't, and will not support the policies or candidates supporting these policies for the rest of my life. To this day a believable or logical argument to support these trade policies has yet to be made by anyone anywhere and all the evidence points to the exact opposite of what they have always argued (media blowhards) ie: create 2 jobs for every job outsourced, our exports will increase as the middle class in 'emerging' economies will create jobs, yada yada yada ... not one thing they've said is true or have come even close to true ... in 24 years. How much evidence do people need?

I have seen homelessness on a scale in this country like I have never seen ever in the past 6 years as I travel a lot far and wide... saw no homeless camps or even beggars with signs in several countries in South America that I have visited and they have poverty by the bucket loads. But then again they allow people to put up shanty's and makeshift housing and they live there at least peacefully and sheltered somewhat whereas in Amerika they just root up homeless tent cities and send them off somewhere because it hurts someone's beautiful mind.

Union issues and trade rarely did well there. Many don't get it. Leo Gerard, the head of the Steelworkers would post there, and it was ignored. Teamsters used to post there, but gave up. I met Change to Win people, including union leaders, at Dkos 2007. Their internet person would send me press releases and stories. They gave up on TOP by 2010 or so.
I think " blogging" may be declining. Facebook gives everyone a blog.
I also think it is ineffective.
I go by every morning to rec BNR and any Bernie posts on the rec
list, but find it harder and harder to do.

a good friend damned near voted for Shillary based on a post by some disabled woman who said when she contacted Bernie's campaign they ignored her, but when she contacted Shillary they were all over it. My friend is most likely disabled for life and has a young daughter and an ex husband who's also got health problems of his own. She was blatantly manipulated by that post, because of the fear she lives with every single day. I did talk her down, and reminded her once again that Shillary will say or use any dirty manipulative trick she can to get elected. And when I reminded my friend that Bill and Hill are both down for privatization of SS, well, she got the point and is angry about it too.

while I used no names... I think it was quite clear I was talking about the multi-millionaire who owns the GOS... And has the unmitigated gall to call other people privileged while I was on the phone literally fighting with Medicade in an attempt to keep my sister ALIVE.
