There is an amusing discussion over at TOP (will not link) about whether the internet volume there has declined. The free internet volume data source, Quantcast, shows a decline of 44% in unique views in the last 90 days, with a pronounced decline after the edict.
Plus you probably received a begging letter from the owner. I think his name is Ozymandias.
Good. The more here the merrier. When I heard (here!) that he was skimming off Bernie contributions made through his site, I just about puked.

most people on TOP have no idea that whenever you donate to anything through a DK link 1/2 that $ goes to DK.
There was actually a (non flagged) discussion about this in a Well read diary the other day... It wasn't flagged because anyone who commented made sure to not cross any lines. And it started because some HRC dead ender posted that they were OUTRAGED that Bernie sent out a funding pitch for 7 down ticket dems with an option to bulk donate and split the $ with the Bernie campaign.... The OUTRAGE was outrageous... Until someone (innocently) asked "but is t that exactly what DAILYKOS does???

And let me just put this out there, since i can: Liz Warren was a Republican voter (notice she doesn't say she was Republican at least that I can find) and, at first, i really liked her. But there is something that doesn't click for me about her. Too nationalistic sounding? I can't quite put my finger on it. What I do know is that she talks a lot about student debt relating to how the gov't should fix it without giving us ideas how to influence it: i don't know, but local banks? become members of credit unions and, as voters and members, work on student loan policy?
my point being, she's said a lot of things but very little outcome and none of it guiding us to the tools/resources we have in our local/state gov'ts to get things done... as far as I can tell. and she hasn't taken a side... that bothers me as well.

received the same treatment: tip jar removed by edict from above. I used to enjoy writing diaries to TOP just to stir up the goldfish. Their average remnant reader is like Dorothy in "Nemo"--you know the fish that can't remember anything for longer than 10 minutes (e.g., Hillary's continuing series of lies, flip-flops, and scandals). But I gave up on that because you can't argue with two sorts of people: stupid / crazy.
By the way, tmp, their idignancy is real for their fee fees are easily bruised, by such things as the truth, for instance.

I think it will more than slow after the convention if Hill is
not the nominee; it will drop off a cliff. The only reason the dropoff looks gradual, IMO, is because of so many new users, but many have to be paid Hillbots. Most of the content is exceedingly boring now. So if Hill isn't paying them, they'll be gone, and not much left.

TOP Should Keep Tanking
I've certainly significantly decreased my participation since the edict. I do go to check in on BNR. Not simply to keep supporting LD, which he deserves, but also to read the compilation of Bernie doings. But really, the place has become a veritable cesspool, with the kind of nastiness I never would've expected from so-called progressives. Even in Valtin's GBCW post yesterday. It's sad and disgusting what's become of the place, but is was kos' choice to reap the whirlwind.
I know I don't talk here much of late...
Part of that is mostly breaking old habits. After a decade of spending time at TOP... took me a few moments to get that acronym, btw, but it's BRILLIANT!... it's hard to remember "Oh yeah, C99% is less insane on a lot of levels!".
But mostly it's just life. I'm hoping to have a little more time to rant at y'all in the coming weeks... though strangely it feels a lot less like a rant here. Maybe I'm not always anticipating the inevitable dump that trolls will take, no matter how reasonable one is.
But in any event, it's just getting worse at TOP, with the Notorious Oz mocking the no longer extant Trump/Sanders debate (failing to note Trump's obvious panic at being taken up on his "joke" offer to debate... real presidential there, Drumpf!), the aforementioned Valtin diary (where he notes, for the first time in his over a decade memory of TOP, a TIP JAR was flagged and hidden), and even reasonable attempts to point out the "circular firing squad" that Oz and his fellow Hill Trolls are forming were only turning off the very people they NEEDED being flushed from the recommended listing as quickly as possible.
The noisier sorts (yes, I look in the mirror and acknowledge I'm one) bailed sooner. It's the quiet ones that
Koser, Oz needed to worry about. I honestly almost believed them when they said that their traffic wouldn't be impacted, and I was just an obnoxious ass rocking the boat for no reason whatsoever.But DOWN 44%... when (at least until last year) the site's numbers appeared to be unstoppable?
Well, they thought the same about house prices... and then the crash came, as it will again in the next 1 to 2 years. I thought it would make me happier, but it just makes me sad (just as the whiney 538 piece trying to justify rigging the primaries to suit one candidate isn't really rigging does) to watch something I respected go down in painful and predictable fashion.

I predicted over two years ago
That TOP would become irrelevant if they did not change their front page focus of stupid Republicans. The lack of focus upon real issues, like climate change and income inequality, were in large part a factor behind this site becoming established. We had been working on developing a site that would focus on the big picture issues from the left perspective for a couple of years before the big migration here earlier this year.
This was before Hillary formally declared and long before Bernie decided to run. On a personal level, I just thought that the constant stupid Republicans had worn thin and made dkos less of a real player in the political game. I never anticipated that Markos would completely destroy his site to support a very flawed and corrupt candidate. So my prediction seems to be coming true, but for a different reason that I originally thought.

I came to about the same conclusion, and actually wrote it up in many more words than you use:
The election of Orange Insanity would be a plain global catastrophe.
The election of Hillary will mean that the party can ignore its liberals for a few more years, while appointing neocon suits to all the cabinet posts (ala BHO) and surrendering in advance on austerity and economic fairness issues.
This prospect was so depressing that I deleted the thing.
They might come around to supporting President Sanders
Once it's undeniable how much good he's done for the country. By then it will be too late as Kos's site will have drowned in irrelevancy.
Beware the bullshit factories.
Now that would be an interesting experiment.
A new edict over there to support Sanders.
And then watching the confusion, let alone the walk backs.
It'll never happen, but it's amusing to consider.
