Whoopi Goldberg has announced that Oxygen channel has picked up a new series she is executive producing, called Strut.

[The Show] will follow a group of transgender models as they pursue careers in the fashion industry.

Supplying the talent will be Slay Model Management, the first modeling agency exclusively for transgender models.

Strut is important right now, because for all of the positive advances the community has made and continues to make, transgender is still a hot-button word that gets people hysterical.

This series will give viewers a unique opportunity to spend time with real people who are struggling with the same challenges we all face as we make our way through the world. You may even be surprised to discover that you have been seeing and interacting with transgender men and women in ways you didn’t even realize!

Meanwhile, over in India, designer Sharmila Nair launched her new collection of saris by featuring two transgender models, Maya Menon and Gowri Savitri and the collection has gone viral.

In this collection (Mazhavil) we have mainly concentrated about the colors – using all the shades in the rainbow! Fabric used is hand-woven cotton that is naturally dyed so that the colors don’t fade. The saris are starch free, perfect for the summers,” said Sharmila to Polka Café

In the past two weeks, we've already sold more than 100 saris. Besides people in India, we've received lots of orders from Britain, Singapore, Australia and the US.
