The March on DNC is real, and here's an Early Primer on What they have Planned for the Democratic Convention
The March on DNC is being organized by four groups who support Bernie Sanders, but more importantly support the values and principles upon which he has based his political career and upon which he has campaigned.
The four main groups who have done the heavy lifting to bring this about are:
Black Men for Bernie
Bernie or Bust
The Berners [website under construction]
The Movement4Bernie
These folks already have obtained permits from the City of Philadelphia for the use of several parks for all 4 days of the Convention, permits that they have agreed to share with the Sanders' campaign when Bernie's people reached out to them. All of these groups have different agendas and motivations and ideas on how to go forward in supporting Bernie, but on one thing they stand united: the right of Bernie supporters to peacefully rally, petition the DNC, support and celebrate Bernie and the political revolution his candidacy inspired at the Democratic National Convention in July in Philly.
The media has taken a sudden interest in their planned activities in the wake of the Nevada debacle and the "penchant for violence" big lie that the DNC and the Hillary campaign (and David Brock's paid trolls) have rabidly promoted in the already biased corporate media and online. The organizers of the March of the DNC, however, made it very clear in the following video of their press conference (held on Wednesday last week) that they are committed to peaceful non-violence, or in the words of one of the spokes people, Billy Taylor, showing love for Bernie in the City of Brotherly Love:
[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcxzVVBzm4Y width:550 height:400]
Here's how the media covered that event and the planned rallies and marches:
The group of Sanders supporters who gathered outside City Hall Wednesday promised to remain peaceful, but said they expect to rally at the plaza outside the Municipal Services Building in Center City.
The group is still holding out hope Sanders will be the party's standard-bearer. Bruce Carter of Black Men for Bernie says Sanders is the only candidate he can believe in.
"I'm 100 percent Bernie-or-bust in the general election," Carter said. "Our goal is to register every black male over 18 that can vote so they will have a voice in the general election regardless of who has the nomination."
Four pro-Bernie Sanders rallies, with estimated attendance of 38,000 activists, have been approved for public demonstrations during the Democratic National Convention in July, the city said Thursday. [...]
For the largest of the four pro-Sanders rallies approved, more than 30,000 people are expected to attend weeklong demonstrations called “March for Bernie at DNC,” which will be held at FDR Park in South Philadelphia. It’s within earshot of where conventioneers will gather at the Wells Fargo Center to nominate their party’s presidential nominee.
The rally has been approved for five straight days, starting July 24 and ending July 28. The permit from the city also allows activists to gather each day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The “public assemblage,” as the city technically describes demonstrations, could evolve from rally into protest depending on what happens during delegate voting inside the convention.
More importantly, here's a copy of their press release from their official Facebook Page:
Are you frustrated with the DNC? Has your vote been tossed? Your voice been suppressed? Have you felt silenced by the establishment?
We are organizing to stand together and support Bernie, sway the delegates and super delegates to our side, and ensure the DNC is aware that with out Bernie our vote won't be with the Democratic Party in November. We have put forth a call to action. We will be peacefully demonstrating at the Democratic National Convention to threaten mass deregistration if the Democratic Establishment continues their election fraud tactics to deny Bernie Sanders the nomination. After voter suppression, dirty politics, and smear campaigns, we will be loud in clear in our message to the establishment: We The People have the power and we vote Bernie.
Our mission is to organize more marches across the country in the same way we did in January, only this time, bigger.
We've got time to organize and promote these events. With this amount of time on our hands, we should be able to blow this up bigger than any Bernie event so far.
We want a YUGE demonstration/march at the convention in Philly as well as YUGE solidarity marches across the country to send a clear message to the establishment: WE. WILL. BE. HEARD.
The details are still being worked out, but PLEASE SHARE THIS EVERYWHERE.
To be clear: THIS IS A MARCH FOR BERNIE SANDERS.
We want to make this historical. We need to show the DNC and the rest of the establishment that we are NOT going to stay silent. We the PEOPLE decide this election, NOT super-delegates. We are most likely going into the convention close to a tie with no one securing the delegates needed to win the nomination before that. That means it's OUR job to be LOUD and CLEAR that we are for BERNIE SANDERS and that they need to vote with US.
You can RSVP at our event here if you will be in Philly, or you can RSVP at one of the many other facebook events created by other passionate organizers!
Please SHARE far and wide! We want this to be as YUGE as possible! Use #MarchOnDNC to share your thoughts/events!

Ballot access is still possible
For about 48 states, excluding Texas and South Dakota for an independent. If Bernie chooses to go with the Green Party the work is well underway and may give access to all 50 states.

Bernie 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't the Greens already *have*
a candidate? Are they supposed to kick her out the window, or what?

No, I think the hope is he might consider joining her ticket
She has a right to her spot, she's done the groundwork. But the latform of the Green and Bernie nicely align, and he could bring a huge number of voters to the Greens.
I don't expect that to happen, but it would be nice.
The Green Party has invited Bernie to top their ticket.
Bernie would put them in the debates.

Green Party
I read somewhere that the Green party has said that they will be on the ballot in all 50 states. So if Bernie goes third party, it has to be the Green party. Dr. Jill Stein has offered him the top spot on the ballot if he wants it.

Really? What a dream that would be...
And if that's true (I'm not doubting you, just never heard that), it just goes to show that HER heart is also in the right place - the good of the people vs potential power.
My hope is that the DNC screwing Bernie so blatantly will lead him to rethink his past commitments to reforming the Democratic party from within.
Unfortunately, I think this is where consistency and integrity becomes a downside for us, I don't think he'll do it.
uM, NO....
a lot OF STATES will throw out write ins and deny it was done enough states won't allow a third party not already declared by the first of May or June on the November ballot, so votes for him or a fourth party *(remember the greens -- sigh -- ) won't get included... and The KLINTOONS ARE KOUNTING ON THAT.

Bernie always says
he can't do it alone. It's going to take people standing up and making their voices heard. Sounds like his supporters got the message! Go Bernie!!
Really, after briefly reading the cesspool of comment shit
there in your exercise-that-meant-well-but, I have to wonder why you or any of us worries about being banned from there. It's become about whiny little titty babies, monitoring other sites and then tattling to that Big Bad Markos (snort). OMFG, give me a break.... I didn't even see this kind of junior-high-school bullshit in junior high school! Holy crap, it's all I can do to go rec LD anymore.
Which reminds me: a family member and I have united over our mutual admiration for the other's candidate. I admit it--while The Donald isn't my cup of tea (and I still don't know if I could actually vote for him), he strikes me as a wee bit saner than Her on certain subjects (war, for example). For that, I have a shit-ton of respect for him, particularly after the spring slog-fest in the primaries. And especially if his whole bid for the nomination was in fact a fluke predicated only by a commitment to run, so he could make his friend Hillary look better. That would take some serious fucking noive to pull off with a straight face, and however he's ended up there, he's managed to do it and he's still standing. Well? He *did* get those votes, did he not? That ought to count for something, even if in the big picture, it still sucks for sane people everywhere. So I tell my dear sister-in-law all that, and she says "well you know, that (insert C word she identifies Her with all the time) is totally cheating, so I think it's awesome that Bernie's not taking any shit from her....". and proceeded to tell me she's paid more attention to him now "because he won't go away and I want to know about anyone who's got that kind of guts to do that to those fucking murderers" (yeah, she's all Vince Foster, and Benghaaaazeeeee, which I guess means she's from the Darryl Issa wing of that Party?)....and he's not afraid of her? Good for him, I hope he puts her out of everyone's misery...." and we then proceeded to talk about how much we actually have in common over actual policy. And in the end, she said, "well, you know, Sanders is a better guy than Trump, overall, I think if it came down to them, I'd have to vote Sanders...."
I can't describe how that made me feel, but I'm telling you all of this because it seems to me that if that Orange Cesspool keeps "partisans" arguing against each other, we won't reach out to the Right and do what we did in my family. They fear that more than anything. You know they do. I am beginning to think they have no other choice.
Yeah I probably shouldn;t have bothered, but
maybe one person saw it and said "Okay, I am going to Philly." But otherwise that was the first diary I'd posted there in - I'm not sure how long. Actually, I was surprised I wasn't banned earlier, but I missed my chance I think by not doing a Lord of the Rings Satire piece.
But I don't go most days because what's the point? It's like a Clinton version of Free Republic. And not going is so much less stressful.

I'd like to hope that
of course he's got a few more eyeballs yet over there. But holy crap, if I'd never seen that site much before this year, I don't think I'd stick around it much, I've read lesser assholes at freakin' Yahoo News articles lately. I don't know how markos thinks that's a good thing, that invites future discourse, dialog and....what's the word? Activism? The little dude has truly lost it, if he does.
He sold himself cheap
a long time ago. I think he has this fantasy that Clinton would be his big meal ticket to the big time, unlike Obama.

He has traded
an extremely loyal, very forgiving, solid left user base for a bunch of sociopaths who have no loyalty and will turn on him the moment he does something that doesn't fit in with their binary worldview. TOP is a dead site walking.

I wanted to say much the same.
I got out when he called anyone who wouldn't support hrc "morons"
I've almost weaned myself away from DK.
Haven't been there in over a week. They've created a nice little bubble over there.
I wonder how this overlaps w/the Occupy DNC folks?
They are also making plans. Shaz showed me where they were on FB.

Not sure
You have a link? I know one of the people for the March on DNC really well, and I could ask him I suppose what coordination between the two there are. One difference may be that March on DNC has city permits for events at several big parks all 4 days, etc., so that gives them some official local government cover from as legal standpoint. Don't know the background of the Occupy group or what they are planning

Okay just messaged my contact
and yes, the two groups are working together. That's all I know at this point, but they are not doing this independently of one another.

Occupy folks have
been on Facebook for some years now. I have had increasing mobility problems over the past decade (spouse died in 2009 and since then my ability to walk has decreased as nerve damage from insecticide poisoning increased with increasing pain not related to blood sugar has made it impossible for me to stand or march a full route of a demonstration), so I couldn't hang with the Occpy Seattle folks, but I took them bail money for their community kitty, books for their library and canned goods by the case when I had access to deeply discounted bulk prices... no longer have those.
Occupy was on Facebook then and Facebook wasn't that well known.

this is why I haven't gone back

Ain't it grand? No mob attack.
I'm with you 100% on your observation, and appreciation of TP (THIS place).
Maybe this is what they mean by"rockin' in the free world."
dark colombian rum?
The type colombians used to buy by the quart and dilute 2 or 3 to 1 with seltzer before entertaining? My aunt and uncle used to sit around on weekends when there weren't parties and sometimes they'd get crocked on that rocket fuel. I joined them a couple of times though only a sophomore or junior in the US high school (tuition fee paid) in Bogota on a Friday evening, and I'd be crippled with a hangover clear through to late Sunday night. The only thing more lethal was/is aguardiente. No hangover, but one glass of water or tomato juice and one's instantly drunk all over again, only this time without a blackout.

Appreciate the research.
Berniestock 2016!
Sounds like a beautiful event, and only the beginning.
Stay safe everyone.
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
Oh, That Should Work Out Well

...
Oh sorry, I was channeling Trix for a minute there! Weird flashback!
I'll be okay...
Bernie is a win-win.
Oh, you !! n/t
Steven
I hope you connect with a lot of folks from here and from "top" before it went to sh!t who maybe didn't come here.
I hope you all make a difference whether in Philly or other places.
I saw the reception the diary I'm responding to got in "top" and I admit to a 180. I no longer care to fight to get the oligarchs out of the Democratic party.
I am just not sure what I'll do about the election, because after seeing the RIGGED (imo) VOTES which don't count for delegates, as Sanders won 70% in the WA caucus (but this alleged "primary" vote count which is a "beauty contest" was allegedly won by that cheating bitch's team of con theives. I do not for a fucking second think she won the county I live in, but allegedly she did. I REALLY wonder how many votes were shredded, just in this county. We had almost a month to turn them in, and the ballots were easy to read, clear and there were literally drop off points in every city amd town, so people didn't even need to use postage. All the people I registered, voted, knew to mark the ballot envelopes by party (to make opening them in party piles for counting faster.. not to label voters) ::sigh:: I literally drove many of the people I registered to drop off their ballots and they ALL, literally ALL of them I drove to the drop box, SHOWED me the party mark and stated to me that they detested Clinton and were doing this to reinforce their caucus votes for Sanders... Mine is one of the medium sized towns in Snohomish county. I do NOT think all the Sanders votes made it to the count.
I just don't.
I'm sick. I really feel that if her staff will cheat on a beauty contest, they'll rig the convention.
Just sick, right now.
I'm not going to say more. I can't without serious profanity

Wow!
Very exciting. I might go!
Slightly off topic, but I'll mention that if you have a NYTimes account, there's a lot of Bernie Bashing going on in the comments section of a Thomas Edsall column, in which Bernie is mentioned only once in passing. The top comment at the moment however(paid trolls?) goes right to the Bernie jugular and describes Bernie as "toxic and duplicitous" because he is using the "right wing's" slander points and HRC gets booed at his rallies. I already added my 2 cents. Feel free to add yours.
I snarked a bit over there
