Buffalo County (NE) Convention

I am committed to the notion of participatory democracy. That's why, yesterday, the day after driving back from the Left Coast, I (and my wife) attended the Buffalo County Convention. If you do not know: The county conventions in Nebraska are used to consolidate the caucus results that then determine the county delegate representation to the state convention. This step is important because that mix of delegates determines the actual Nebraska vote at the national convention. The part that is often lost upon the non-cognoscenti is that the national convention vote may differ in subtle and important ways from the original caucus "vote".
The turnout was large compared to the past participation in this region, but subpar from this writers perspective. The Bernie contingent was reasonably (demographically, the state organization requires proportional representation) large while the Hillary contingent was disappointingly small. The 4 plus 2 alt Bernie delegates were selected by a group of energetic fully engaged cross section of area democratic voters. The 2 plus 1 alt Hillary delegates were selected by about ten primarily older people. The contrast in attitude was palpable.
I expect to be in Oregon during (17-19 June) the State Convention (to be held in Kearney) so my wife will solo-host some Lancaster County Bernie delegates (including my daughter) during that time. I expect the turnout for Bernie to be enthusiastic and for all selected delegates and their alternates to be present. The mood (at least locally) from the Hillary delegates is less than enthusiastic tending toward defeatist. The Nebraska delegate split may be skewed more toward Bernie than suggested by the present projections if nothing changes in the mean time.

The only shenanigans anticipated at the state convention in TX next month will be a rules change to prevent those who are independent from running for Pres on the Dem ticket going forward. But am still trying to get meeting minutes to see if my gut is correct that I'm missing information.
