Mr. President, we need a new DNC chair

Jonathan Tasini, writing an opinion piece over at CNN, states the obvious: Debbie Wasserman Schultz needs to go and Mr. President is the man to make it happen.

(CNN) — The President of the United States has a phone call to make.

He needs to call Debbie Wasserman Schultz and request that for the good of Democratic Party unity and to best Donald Trump in November, she step aside.

It is clear that the Democratic Party is headed for a tumultuous convention, one in which advocates for two very different visions of what the party should stand for will wrestle to try to shape its platform -- not to mention nominate our standard bearer. In this process, we will need to look up to the podium to see a leader who can rise above the fray to inspire confidence on both sides. Wasserman Schultz does not meet that standard.

As an individual, Wasserman Schultz has every right to support a candidate. However, the position of Democratic National Committee chair requires resolute neutrality, both in perception and in practice. Yet at major milestones in the primary race, Wasserman Schultz's actions have been anything but neutral -- to the extreme detriment of the party.

I encourage you to read Jonathan's entire piece. He lays out the case of DWS's partiality very well.

I don't think that the prez would like to get involved but I also don't believe that he wants to see the wreckage of the Dem. party in Philadelphia.

If you'd like to make your voice heard, there are some petitions circulating for DWS's ouster. As of Thursday morning, a MoveOn.org petition calling for Wasserman Schultz to resign had 76,146 digital signatures. A similar petition at Change.org had 60,525. Another on CREDO Action's website had 86,291. Let's get this done.

how fascinated I will be if my original assessment of Barack Obama turns out to be true--that he really believed in all that Hopey Changey stuff and was going to Fix Washington until he got sat down, tied up and force-fed Zapruder films narrated by TPTB threatening him and his family if he didn't Go Along With How It Is. I always envisioned that particular Power That Be as "the previous POTUS". And because Georgie Boy was such a dimwit, they had to pass him by, so naturally, Sweet Old Bill got to do it.

THAT Obama would love to give DWS the axe, all right--straight down the middle of her forehead. And Bill and Hill would be next on the list.

Oh, to have that actually be true. Alas, that's only in the movies....but what the hell IF it was really true?? The mind reels...

She should have been gone after the 2014 midterms. There is no excuse. She's corrupt and incompetent. Even loyalist Democrats agree that she should go. So why is she still in charge of the DNC?

We're "certainly" going to lose it, and that will be fine. He wouldn't have talked like that on the Sunday news programs if it wasn't Obama's position. So was the loss a feature or a bug?

that HRC make with Obama to bring her supporters over to him. I also think that's how she got Sec. of State. All of it so she could steal the presidency in 2016.

his support for FSC at a Dem fundraiser, not too long ago.

Would like to see DWS fired, but since [as everyone's acknowledged] she's a FSC minion, wouldn't count on it.

Earlier today, FSC said to Chris Cuomo (CNN) that the primary is over--everyone needs to get with the program.

I expect that we'll see similar (although a bit tempered) language from PBO, soon--even before the convention.

IMO, it's time get on the offense (regarding FSC's declarations), instead of staying on the defense. But that's just my 2 cents!

I don’t know why so many people avoid using “HRC.” Perhaps it’s because HRC can stand for “Human Rights Campaign” as well as “Hillary Rodham Clinton”?

"Payday Schultz"
New nickname.
Gets her for collusion with loan sharks and raises the question of influence of money in her running of the party.

She has led the party off the cliff twice now, losing ground everywhere. Train wreck. I guess it's hard trying to act like republicans but needing working people's votes. Loser.

It’s very important you know that Debbie Wasserman Schultz is continuing to undermine core progressive values by standing with the GOP in Washington.

This week, she was one of only a handful of Democrats to vote with the Republicans to block the release of taxpayer-funded reports that members of Congress regularly commission to study issues. These reports cost taxpayers a collective $100 million a year, and are only made available to members of Congress, federal lobbyists, and special interest groups.

These Congressional reports are supposed to be an unbiased and nonpartisan way to educate the public and better improve public policy in Congress, but how can that happen if taxpayers are routinely kept in the dark about the results of this research?

There is no reason to withhold these reports from taxpayers, unless perhaps they are specifically covering up government fraud or abuse by those with a vested interest in keeping the public ignorant of these findings — perhaps the same corporate lobbyists that are funding Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s campaign. We may never know, because our opponent and the Republicans are trying to block an effort by Democrats to increase transparency and accountability on these research reports.

Please contribute $3 — or whatever you can afford — to help our campaign take the fight to Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her special interest donors. Together, we can win this election in August and undo the damage she has done to the Democratic Party and to our country.

While Debbie Wasserman Schultz wants to keep us all in the dark on her activities in Washington, we’re committed to shining a light on what is happening in our government today. It may seem like a wonky issue, but we have a right to know what our elected leaders are using taxpayer money to research and the results of that research.

It’s even more troubling that our opponent is once against standing with Republicans against working Americans. We’ve had enough of Wasserman Schultz undermining fellow Democrats. It’s time to take action to remove her from public office and party leadership.

DWS should never have been appointed to the chair. It was a poor choice and has caused a "YUUUUUGE" catastrophe. We will end up with Hillary as the nominee and Wall Street will continue its rule over the people. I don't think orange "Clown Boy" will be elected, but then I didn't believe Ronald Reagan be elected much less re-elected.
Television and corporate owned "News" have caused elections to be turned into circuses. And America will suffer the consequences. Wink

I agree it is too late to terminate DWS. This is just a ploy to unite the party and it will not work. You cannot trust the majority of politicians, but the Democratic Party for the past six years has been very suspect. This year with the HRC nomination the curtain on the corruption was pulled back for the world to see. They have lost all creditability with the members of the party and voting public. Floating this idea that you have to support Hillary because Trump is too scary is ridiculous. The Clinton's are a greater threat to our democracy, economy and the world.

If the DNC and elected pols are worried, They need to do the right thing and get behind Bernie. They are worried they will lose their lobbyist money. Now is the time for them to show their leadership, it is a true "Profiles in Courage " moment. Sadly, I do not see leadership skills in their DNA.

without losing their Special Brand of Gravy Train.

They've got to decide between America and Not-America, when they decide whether Democrats Need To Win, and They Can Only Win With Bernie Sanders. That Gravy Train is grotesque--it is immoral and wrong and anyone trying to save it is a traitor to the rest of us. So they need to stow that thing, preferably by driving it off a cliff so no one else can commandeer it and run over the whole country with it.

This is why Bernie Sanders is WINNING--because he GETS that, and so do a lot of others. The conductors and the staff of that unholy crooked bullshit need to decide if they're Americans or not. Full stop. Somebody ought to frame it that way, in fact, straight-up, in a way that it's well-understood.
