Nevada Democratic Convention
Submitted by CFland on Sat, 05/14/2016 - 3:08pm
I'm putting this up not because I know the most, or say it the best, but because when you google Nevada Democratic Convention nothing comes up about the outright thievery being attempted there.
Oh yes. They called the vote before everyone was there and tried to pass it and are now fighting like wild to change the rules and get their cheating passed, giving 400 delegates to Hillary Clinton.
Disclaimer - duh? I'm a housewife. I've used this platform twice. But if you google and wonder why nothing comes up, it is NOT because nothing is happening.

Seems she compromised some of their sensitive data.
I think there may be a division of opinion w/in the Deep State about its chosen candidate.

Anyway politics is not
a science!

True! Even universities call it “political science,” but
politics is no more a science than is Old Testament fundamentalism a.k.a. “creation science.”
What they really mean is, “the political arts and their history” — orchestrated mass manipulation of people as an art or craft that may also include employing science-based insights and techniques.
Well stated definition!

The undemocratic shenanigans of the Democratic Party
This is getting old and tiresome. Everywhere you turn, the Democratic Party is actively trying to block and sideline, we, the people. Are they not accountable to anyone?
Love is my religion.
I thought she was so far ahead that a few delegates...
didn't matter. Bernie wins states, gains a net of 5 or 6 and "it's no big deal and doesn't change the math", yet the Clintons are willing to drive us even further away over those few delegates in Nevada.
Anyway, reason #3,526 to never, ever vote for Hills.
This is something I have noticed
about Hillary Clinton. She lies and cheats even when it is not necessary. It is a part of her DNA.

That isn't how the Clinton work
They threaten people to get behind them. I don't give a rat's ass if all of those investigations over 30 years cleared them. They are corrupt to the core.
Especially the foundation. Way too many people have gotten rich after donating to it and then getting access to powerful people or governments.
The foundation gets donations which the Clintons then use to fund their lives. Using private jets to fly around the world and being able to write them off on their taxes.
And they have numerous shell companies to hide their assists in Delaware. And who knows where else?
Do a search for Clinton foundation scandals and read the hits that come up.
The charity navigator doesn't have good things to say about them.
There was a diary on top today that laid out everything that the Clintons did in Haiti and the bots refused to admit it.
It doesn't matter where the information comes from, they still call it right wing talking points.
And when Hillary starts doing everything we have been warning them about, they will give her the same pass that they have given Obama.
I just don't understand how people can be so damned stupid and stubborn
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
I guess we have to face
the fact that there are many essentially immoral people who simply don't care if their side does something bad. I was completely baffled at how Obama repeatedly got passes for actions that would have caused a huge uproar at gos had a repub done the same.
I finally concluded that they don't have principles; they have feelings.
But I'm using too broad a brush, I know....

I guess some people are willing to destroy the party
in order to nominate Hillary. If so, they're doing a good job of it.
And if this sort of thing gets enough publicity, a new party will be viewed in a neutral way, if not outright positive way.
So these characters are laying the foundations of a new party.

There is some good delegate news.
From the Light House.
I'm going to try and look at this from the bright side
These never ending, blatant attacks and rigged schemes against Bernie, will make it easy for Bernie to stand up and run as a 3rd party candidate. They have screwed him every way they can and he should feel absolutely no obligation to the Democratic party after what they have done.

These folks have short memories. I was in Chicago in 1968.
Feelings were high & the Dem establishment tired to run rough shod over us. It was not a pleasant outcome.
I'm expecting to see a replay in Philly. They have the guns, but we have the numbers.

In 1968, but didn't the Dem establishment get exactly what they wanted? A milquetoast, hesitant liberal who, with greater conviction, could have one. Protests in the state convention in NV bring about the same as protests outside the convention in Chicago in 1968. Nothing good. If the good guys can't win the D nomination without a landslide then they should get as far away from the D party as possible. Short of justice dept. indictments, Philly is going to give progressives nothing unless some form of miracle occurs in the remaining primaries.
One HOPES that
a shitload of those outside the convention center this time have FULL BODY ARMOR and high quality gas masks and eye protection.
Seriously.

Only connect. - E.M. Forster
There will be no fundamental changes
if Hillary Clinton wins the presidency, or if she loses. For her and her family, and those who rely on their patronage, things will not be much different. The Clintons are sort of middle-layer patrons: they accept the patronage of the deep economy, and then distribute this patronage retail style.
What is the case is that the deep economy - the financial institutions, military industrial complex, etc., will have a known quantity and a reliable lever in power if she wins.
If Trump wins, then they are faced with a person who is more of an unknown to them. He does not need any patrons. He is in the very top of the top of the elite. Since he makes money the old-fashioned way, he is not in the retail patronage business. No one will get anything from him. He doesn't need anyone.
That may mean, and I stress this as a possibility, that those who depend on connections to make their little businesses soar can still shop with the Clintons. The problem is that the Clintons will not be able to grow their franchise. You see, elections take place in other countries. If you are not a president or top cabinet official, when the guard changes over at Germany GmbH or Britain Ltd., or Democratic Republic of the Congo Strip Mine, the new politicians no longer know you, and so access is much harder.
That is why the Clintons want to retain the presidency. Without it, in a few years, they will be in the weeds.
I dislike Mr. Trump's politics and many of his policies. Were I unprincipled, I would say that a vote for the Green Party is a vote for Clinton or Trump. However, I will vote for a third candidate in this presidential election.
I have nothing against business. The problem is, that no one can conduct any sort of global business in this world without harming others, directly or through environmental, political, social, or economic damage.
Sorry for those of you who have this line of work, as I suspect many who spend time on certain blogs do. Take a hard look at what you do and the consequences. I feel guilty using the time and energy to write here, but I cannot get what I have in my head out easily other ways.
If you are interested, please read my latest blog post here, Mediating Abstractions. It is an introduction to how I am starting to approach the metaphysics underlying everything we assume.
Thank you very much CFland for posting this report and thank you to everyone who made comments, especially to those who provided informative updates.
I do not wish to push a religion, but from a historical standpoint, the patronage system of the Greco-Roman world was a very important factor which led to the development of Christianity as a universal alternative, an anti-patronage religion. Say what you will about what happens in the world outside the narrative of the New Testament, and that is a truly obscene history, but the NT is full of anti-patronage messages. The biggest one is that if a transcendent being can trust us, then we can trust one another. Take the transcendent being away, and we are left with the need to figure out not what unifies us in terms of favorite ice cream flavor or sports team, but what is present when we interact, and to focus on that presence in the communicative/relational act. There is something there, and it is part of the concreteness of each one of us - see the essay to which I referred for more hints. Again, what I am thinking about is not spiritual or religious in any way, but is immediate, concrete, and has practical implications.
What we need is not another messiah, but another clear ideology that coopts the system of patronage into something that destroys any chance of patronage surviving. I am still not entirely sure what that might be.
Peace and love be with you, reader.
And I think it's time
for the party to boot the Clintons (and their associates) and their pernicious influence on the party (if it is to survive). The DLC way has wrecked the dem party; the party holds fewer elective offices now than ever.

It's my birthday. And I woke up to this.
As one friend said, "you guys did everything you could to make things work for you in the US. If anyone should have a solid middle class life, it would be you."
Well, we found almost every institution in some ways broken or rigged against playing by the rules. After a lot of looking around the world for an affordable, safe, and comfortable way of life as retirees, we left. And yes we voted for Bernie in Democrats Abroad.
I have been crying since starting to read this thread, because everything I grew up believing in is broken and I am grieving. I love my country. But this is so bad, I just don't know what to do or say.
Some say you shouldn't leave, but stay and fight. Well, we would have gone under and possibly have had to choose early deaths (not hyperbole). At least we were able to find a way out. And we will do anything we can to put our oar in from abroad. But, as we talk to people from our adopted country, we have so many myths to dispel. The biggest one: the shining beacon on the hill. Not.
I'm going to go into my garden today; weed, plant a few more vegetables; wait for my house to sell so we can finally settle here; and pray to the goddess that somehow that bend toward righteousness comes mighty soon.
The only small consolation we have at the moment is that Europe doesn't seem lined up to support TTIP.

Gosh, some of the places we could consider are almost
like small compounds. Courtyard with a stone wall; some outbuildings; either separate buildings with small apartments or ensuite bedrooms. Coming from the US, the rents and house prices outside the large cities is much less expensive but still access to transportation, amenities, services.

Sounds good to me = )
I had already figured that I do not want to live within any large cities. I will probably want to have a car though because I intend to "see the world" or at least the parts I am interested in which is actually quite a lot. If I could do it on horseback that would be cool, but probably not practical. = )
