Back Home again in Indiana- election results
As several of you know, I am a Hoosier by birth and during the last 47.5 years, it was my home until I recently moved to the great state of Washington. Anyway, I am hoping my former state decides to vote for Bernie this evening; however, it will be a close contest.
According to my middle son and wife, (they are still there wrapping things up- school and selling the home), there are tons of Trump signs all over the place. There are some Bernie signs, but very few signs for Hillary. The Sanders rally in downtown Indianapolis last night was huuge according to my son.
Therefore, I am hoping that Alphalop will host the election party this evening (polls close at 6 pm EST) to watch the results, and let us hope that at least my home state does something right and votes for Bernie this evening. We need some good news and to help us continue to fight the good fight. As a side note, watch for Marion and Lake county results- they have big democrat minority voting blocks, so if they break hard for Hillary then Bernie will be in trouble. He must keep it reasonable 15% or so in these counties to have a chance of winning the state.
By the way, one of the reasons I left the state was to get away from the right wing crazies and their BS policies and politics. In addition, I personally know the state director of the Hillary Clinton campaign- it was disappointing to hear he is in charge of her Indiana efforts but not surprising since he is a party person.

Cruz just said it!
After twenty minutes of gibberish.
Not sure this is even worth watching.
At this point, with 46% in, Sanders leads 52-48. But Trump has more votes than Clinton and Sanders combined, while Cruz (!) handily beats either of them. Wow. Not a state I want to even visit.
So you think
Trump will take Indiana in the general?
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
Yes without a doubt

Indiana went for Obama in 2008
It was the one state that I got wrong.
Trump will probably be the nominee. Anything could happen.
where I am
and in the surrounding counties Sanders is beating Clinton by a solid 10+ -and this is a region that usually goes Dem in the general.

Hoosier Red/Conservative
Someone told me years ago (they were familiar w/the state) that the folks there defined 'liberal' as the same as a Bolshevik Commie during the Russian Revolution. I'm crossing fingers/scratching my head. The Bernster wins here; KY will be a red velvet piece of cake.

Back home again, Hoosiers have just thrown a chunk
in the cogs. Whether he takes it or loses by a squeak, the process is not over. And the campaign goes on!

We are not bad people
just a little misunderstood
Indiana has a place in my heart because it was the
headquarters (Indianapolis) for the mighty United Mine Workers of America for many years. Also, home to Eugene Victor Debs in Terre Haute. And now giving the win to Bernie, so I'm willing to cut Indiana some slack.

Need to catch the commuter train
Leaving work, keep watching the results and posting positive comments.
Come on you damn Hoosiers, lets take care of business.
Bernie up 20,000
or more than 5%, with about 53% of precincts reporting.

Politico sez Cruz out
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/05/ted-cruz-drops-out-of-presidential...
"Ted Cruz is quitting the presidential race, according to campaign manager Jeff Roe ... a string of massive losses in the Northeast, and his subsequent defeat in Indiana, appear to have convinced him there’s no way forward.
John Kasich, however, pledged on Tuesday night to stay in the race until a candidate reaches 1,237 bound delegates."

At least we won't have to listen to Ted and Carly anymore!
You mean to say that Carly
has lost again??? I do declare, I am shocked, shocked I tell you.

Sanders now up
18% in my home county - and this is a county that usually goes Dem in the general (just for reference)

Sanders up
Sanders up
53% to Clinton at 47%
So long, and thanks for all the fish
Up 22,000 statewide
Will it be enough to overcome the late-breaking hundreds of precincts in Hill territory? One thing for sure, this is a deeply divided state...
Have to take a break from here and go out for a bit, back later.

Still nothing declared in Lake county
that is the one they are holding back. Half of Laporte (one of the other two counties on the lake has just declared around half its results and, consistent with the region, Bernie is up +10) Lake county is a very different beast though - different demographic and high potential for shenanigans on the count. Watch out for the 2AM 100% of the vote all in one go deceleration.

25,000 ahead now.
And Lake County has already reported.
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
Ah 19% Lake County reported
that is an excellent sign Clinton +10. I think that can be absorbed if it stays that way.
“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.” -Voltaire
Lake County, over 35% and Hillary is slightly up there
assuming (that's the funny part) that the percentage stays the same, Hillary should net another 4,000 votes there. Since Bernie is up by 30,000 you'd think Lake Co. wouldn't make much of a difference but we remember Missouri, where Bernie led until somehow counties that were 60-40 Hillary started reporting 80-20 Hillary.
Thing about Lake county
is that it is IIRC the most solidly Dem part of the entire USA (or at least used to be). Also never underestimate the Chicago corruption factor.
My gut now is that Bernie has enough of a buffer that he doesn't have to worry. 75% vote in and +6 is a lot to overturn.

Trump will speak soon
What are the odds that he will say something stupid?

Do you have a link for the Cenk Uygur story?
I would like to send it to my friends.
He said it earlier tonite on their election commentary show
along with gossip about how if HRC gets indicted the establishment will try to bypass Bernie and get Biden nominated.
MSNBC called it for Sanders
finally! They must have hated doing so.
now about this Ben Carson rumor. What a mistake that'd be! Guy's an idiot. Who would he appeal to?
People who take a lot of sleeping pills?
Yes they did hate calling it for Bernie
because they immediately had to qualify the call by saying it doesn't mean anything in the end.
They hate calling it for Bernie
They've been saying "but he's so far behind in delegates he'll never catch up" for so long, it's become a reflexive tick. The WaPo, right after Bernie won, has five screaming headlines, one on Cruz quitting and four on Trump. Bernie gets crickets.

Black folks, religious folks, & tne Donald
Carson is so low key he won't take any focus off Donald, he's an outsider and can be sent out to woo the AA vote and the bible thumpers. And the fact that he's a moron didn't seem to bother his supporters one bit when he was running,
I can't see many AAs voting for Carson as Veep
but then I'm not really qualified to say, am I?
75% votes counted
Sanders +6.4
Lake county - Clinton +6.2 with 35% votes counted.
looks like Sanders will win the count
I know it is all about the delegates but the pr value of this win for the progressive movement would be huge.

Don't get too excited everyone
according to R. Maddow, this "won't change the end game". In other words, the fix is in and the numbers don't matter.
it would have been important if Hillard had won, but now...
now let's move on....Cruz!
Or as certain people would describe it...
Why won't Bernie Just Drop out after this Devastating Win?
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
I still don't trust this. Erie is still out...why? who knows?
"amazingly" 300+ districts haven't reported.
Don't know what "Erie" refers to, but Lake County is always
way, way late reporting in Indiana. Always, always, always.

Delegate count
according to the NYT
for Indiana: 36 for Hillary
42 for Bernie
Total delegate count: 1,699 for Hillary
1,409 for Bernie
continued mystery
as Lake County comes in the Hillary percentage goes up.
No mystery
Lake county is largely African American and is very much a Democratic machine county - extension of Chicago and for an added bonus US steel out of Pittsburg are historically the big employer.
“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.” -Voltaire
according to NYT
80% reporting so.....
Cnn called it for sanders too
And lord knows they wouldn't if it wasn't a definite. They only do that for Hillary.
can't shake the feeling that it's crooked
Lake County sits quietly for an hour or two, at 35% with Hillary up by 6%. Another 19% comes in and Hillary's lead goes to 14%. Now let me figure out this math....so they found boxes of votes where Hillary gets not the 53% that she had been getting, but 70%. And then stopped cold so they could figure out how many more she'd need, I suppose.
Yup
exactly what they have done in past elections

I admire your skepticism
I too am watching Lake Country closely.
It's now 93.1% reported and Clinton's ~10,000 vote lead in that county isn't going to change it to loss for Sanders. It will cut into his delegate progress though.
It seems weird that particular county went against the pattern of all the other counties which was early voting was pro-Clinton, but poll votes were enough in practically every county to erase (and often reverse) the early voting lead.
If I was prone to conspiracy theory I'd say it was a case of "lets see what the numbers are and see how much we can skew in the other direction without too many people noticing".
The people, united, will never be defeated.
