Steampunk, Owls, Cats, and Butterflies: Street Prophets Thursday Coffee Hour
(Normally Coffee Hour doesn't go up until 4:00 p.m. or close to it but I have to take my brother to a 4:05 p.m. doctor's appointment.)
Welcome to Coffee Hour. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. Life can be very stressful especially for a 24/7 caregiver. One thing I do to relieve stress is read a lot at night after my brother goes to bed. The other is I have discovered adult coloring books. I am having a great time with them. I find that my favorite things to color are butterflies, owls, cats, and the ladies in my Steampunk coloring book. If you have not tried this way to relieve stress I hardily recommend it. Here are a few of the ones I've colored lately.

Great work!
My daughter for several years was embarrassed that she still loves coloring books... but now, she's doing her own drawing because she can't find ones she wants to color anymore...
Point being, was a great way for her to destress and be creative...
Very stoked to see that Mark Hamill is returning to Batman one last time and they're doing one of my favorite graphic novels...

Uhm... And one minor personal note. I find that now that I have a medication that works, it's amazing how my depression tries to get me to NOT use it. Lots of ideas about Addiction, and the idea that I'm just faking it as an excuse to smoke... you get the idea. Would be so much easier to deal with myself if I didn't have 30 odd years of drug warrior propaganda in my brain.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Hey DMW, good luck with the meds, mate. That's always tricky.
Keep in mind that my oldest is an illustrator. If your daughter ever wants to talk drawing, let me know.

Depression
Depression can be the pits. I have so much stress from being a caregiver and then the asthma acting up that they have given me a couple of meds which add to the depression. I force myself to take the medication anyways. I hope things get easier for you.

Love the kitties :)
Yeah, coloring is surprisingly relaxing and meditative. I don't do it often, but whenever I do I'm always glad I did.
Kitties
My little one is spooked because there is another thunderstorm coming in. She slept so close to me last night during the storms that she was almost wearing my pajamas.

These are lovely, michele! TY for this. Enjoy your evening.

Of course I love the one with Raggedy Ann, michele.
I guess I didn't know about adult coloring books. Where do you get them? My 18 yo granddaughter is an artist in the making and she might enjoy these. Heck, I might enjoy them!!!

That one made me think of you, RA
I was wondering if you'd see it![Smile](https://caucus99percent.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/smile.gif)
I browsed through them a couple of times, Haiku.
My second time through, the ladies jumped out and slapped me and said - DON'T YOU SEE US?!?!?!?!?! LOL! They are beauties!
I have to say - I love your avatar. I'm a kitty person, too!

Michael's
I've gotten most of mine from Michael's. In fact the Creative Cats coloring book was made especially for the store.

I think those are really neat.
I got the owls one for my MIL when I was in there getting some cake decorating stuff one day (MIL loves owls). I started coloring one myself, but haven't gotten around to it again.
This shit is bananas.
Thanks, michelewin!
I'll trek over to Michael's!

I like the steampunk stuff.
If I may be allowed to make a request, but would you be willing to give the steampunk material a bit of a neo-noir look? That would look really cool. Too cool for film school.
Try
I can try and see what I can do with some of the other pictures in the book. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nice!
This is gonna be cool. I know that unlike cyberpunk, steampunk settings aren't necessarily neo-noir, but there's no reason why it can't also incorporate neo-noir elements. This is exciting.
On medications and side effects
The last doctor I saw put me on a pill to protect my kidneys from the effects of diabetes. It was a preventative measure; my kidneys are fine and my last a1c was I think 6.1. But it was making me cough and making my throat dry all the time, which is one of the side effects of this pill. I was waking up once, 2, 3 times every night coughing and had to drink water. So I stopped taking it the other day and the coughing is going away now. I called the doctor's office to let them know and asked if there was another kind I could try, but they never called me back. >![Sad](https://caucus99percent.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/sad.gif)
Now this doctor is out of network for my insurance through work so I had to cancel the appointment I was supposed to have on the 13th. So now I get to find yet ANOTHER new doctor. YAY.
This shit is bananas.
