12 or 13'' Saturday night, snow, high winds and drifts shut down all the roads in the area on Sunday. Then frigid temps afterwards with another potential big one Thursday. Yippee! My son scooped all the snow though, one perk of not feeling well.
We're on the down side of winter. I'm looking at a seven day cruise out of Miami - maybe. Spring is right around the corner. We're already making plans to open up the lake house up north. Compared to last year, this winter has been a breeze.

I always find myself comparing to Jan. '77 and Jan. '78. I was in South Bend for both. In '78 the city complely closed for days and the National Guard used tanks as emergency vehicles.
Big difference in both those storms though was we had steady snow for multiple days.

We went up north for Thanksgiving. On the way home, we ran into a blizzard in Bay City. Normal 2 hour + drive turned into six hours. Couldn't even see the road. I75 was a one lane caravan hoping the driver in front didn't run off the road. Huge snow plows were overturned along the highway. Anyone spinning out and getting stuck was SOL.

or perhaps this is the new "winter". People here were calling the past month "June-uary". I read today that San Francisco had no rain in January. That's astounding. We had several days in the 60s. The high today, February 2nd, was 60!
I just woke a while ago, I fell asleep about 7:00 PM and woke up at 10:30, I can't stop sleeping. I tried most of the morning to get the image/video to work with the tweets, I tried everything to no avail, sorry, I'll keep trying. At least the tweets can be embedded, I noticed the images don't display at DKos either.

Thanks Cordelia...
I felt better yesterday and thought it was just a one day thing, oh well, thanks for doing an open thread.
After last year, this is a drop in the bucket.

Tend to agree with you
compared to past year we're in good shape.

Every storm...
last winter was labeled a "polar vortex", haven't heard that phrase this year.
Other bad storms

The West Coast is unseasonably warm

Thanks for the thread, CL. Best wishes to JTC--hope he feels
better soon!
Heck, we got lucky--rain for a day-and-a-half. And temps in the teens for a couple of nights.
But agree with dkmich--around here, Spring appears to be around the corner. (Actually, we prefer fall and/or winter since our years in Alaska.)
What I really dread is the dead of summer (heat)!

Hey, take care of yourself, JTC. Actually, a 'regular' Tweet
looks pretty good, I think.
(While you were out, I posted one of Rupert Murdoch's that I saw at BloombergPolitics.)
You just get well!
(This has been a terrible flu season from what I've heard.)
