OT WE 4 NOV 26 ~ Use Your Common Sense Day

~
fall-indian-summer.jpg
Autumn leaves shower like gold, like rainbows,
as the winds of change begin to blow, signaling the later days of autumn.
-- Dan Millman

Not sure common sense can be taught, although some attempt should be made to get
across the concept in every primary school curriculum in my mind. Seems people either
have some degree of "horse smarts" or totally bereft in that department. How many
genius types do you know who are unable to perform simple tasks? Regardless, if you
have it, today is the day to use it.

Today we should witness the tantrums of a rejected trumpet. Hold on to your hats.
Since this thread is open, use it to share your election results or whatever cranks
your turn.

Seems trumpet damaged the R brand pretty much up and down the
ticket nationwide. I serious rebuke of his mishandling of national
affairs for 2 years. Maybe he will tone down his crazy a bit?

Read AIPAC spent around $90 million on this election cycle without
much ROI. They came out with a statement they will stop buying buying
politicians. Somehow I doubt that will be the case. If trumpet withholds
the $4 billion support, perhaps they will no longer be in a position to
bribe America. We'll see.

@QMS
The threat to withhold $ to Israel is a paper tiger. If the military folds together (there's a bill that must pass first), Israel will have access to the 1.5T in the military budget with NO oversight.

As to the blue wave, don't expect much. The demoncrats will push the Ukraine proxy war against Russia and perhaps stifling the Iranian incursion.

I must admit to voting straight demoncrat just to protest the rethugs. None the less, we got mostly rethugs in AL. The new Governor, Tubberville (past football coach) is going to cut taxes and increase spending. Sounds like a football coach. In my decades in the classroom, I've been the victim of football coaches most of my career...they become the principals and stupidintendents. Most don't know shit about education.

The surprise was the election of a transgendered woman...in Alabama? Of course it was in Huntsville, Space City, home of SpaaaceForce!!!.

Our color is coming on! A much needed rain today. Already more than an inch.

Have a good day and thanks for the OT!

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

It feels like I've seen this show before, with many reruns. Performative legislation that fails, legislative maneuvers that some how get stymied for some reason, they don't have 61 votes so they can't do anything. Legislation that would help the 99% visited once and then forgotten. Endless committees about corruption and who has the power, that gets litigated out to 2044, and everything fought up to supreme court level. All to the tune of Chuck Schumers drone and Jeffries patter. When nothing changes for us, what's next in 2028?

As for Aipac, it'll be money under the table instead of out in the open.

The money coming from State is being switched to the
Pentagon. So no, the "aid" will continue.

US is NOT cutting aid to Israel. Plan is to move it from State's budget--where the $ is formally classified as aid--to the Pentagon, where the $ is "cooperative" (but functions as aid).

This is remarkable. Parts of Florida’s Space Coast have received up to *half a year’s worth of rain* in the last day and a half — as much as 27 inches in 36 hours, about 50% of an average year’s rainfall (radar estimate through 5 p.m. ET Monday).

Apparently the St. Johns river is flooding.

by a sizeable margin. This challenges Citizens United by
preventing non-human entities (corporations) from flooding
money into political races.

A "yes" vote supported this initiative to prohibit artificial persons, including nonprofits, trusts, partnerships, corporations, trade associations, or unincorporated associations, and all entities doing business in Montana, from contributing to campaigns, ballot measure elections, or political parties.

Good for them. Money is not speech in the real world. And corps are not people.

for passing 194, but if I were a betting man, I 'd bet it gets struck down in the courts. If by some miracle it is upheld, I would hope the other 49 states try to pass similar legislation.
I agree with you 100%, money is not speech and corps. are not people.

We'll see how hard special interests fight it. The people
in Montana seem fairly strongly independent. The state has
this opportunity to show how to fight back against corp
machinations.

@Socialprogressive there's the saying that "slavery is the fiction that people are property and corporations are people" courtesy of the supremes. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

this morning. Coulda knocked me over with a feather. I figured for sure that Trump would nuke Pickaxe Mountain last night, in a fit of pique (as is his wont), and I'd have been vaporized in my sleep when the inevitable use-'em-or-lose-em response came whistling in.

But the day is young. He could still do it later today, or tomorrow. At least my sock drawer is in order.

I see that Eileen Laubacher is leading the execrable Lauren Boebert in my district, currently 49.1% to 47.7% this AM- but of course, they are "still counting". As usual. Last time out, Boebert won her seat by 262 votes- but maybe, just maybe, we'll be rid of her this time.

Then, come January, we will once again get to watch the predictable spectacle of the dems doing fuck-all (other than lining their pockets), and blaming everyone but themselves for it. Who will be in the new cadre of rotating villains this time, I wonder? It'll be business-as-usual for the Circle D Corporation, although their bottom line will take a hit because they won't be able to fundraise off of not being in power for the next two years.

I wish I could be wrong on that count, but I doubt it. At least now we can be done with the unceasing political attack ads and begging texts and emails for a few months, maybe. Maybe. The 2028 cycle starts today, after all.

Not, as ever, a fan.

Thanks for the interludes. My feeds are pregnant with
interpretations of the election consequences. Diesen,
Johnson, Kwaitkowsky are all chiming-in. Is this baby
trumpet's time to throw a nuclear tantrum? Sure hope not.

A fairly balmy day here today. An opportunity to get some
outdoor projects underway.

from zero to 64 and got 40. I then used the brave browser's search function for hexagram 40 and it provided the following:

Hexagram 40, known as Deliverance or Liberation (Jie/Xie), represents the release of tension and the resolution of difficulties, symbolized by Thunder above Water. This hexagram indicates that a period of struggle or stagnation is ending, allowing for freedom and a return to normalcy.

The core advice is to act swiftly on any remaining necessary tasks and then return to stability, as lingering in the aftermath of release can lead to arrogance or relapse. It is a time for forgiveness and letting go of past grievances, as holding onto resentment prevents true liberation.

Trigrams: Thunder (Arousing) over Water (Abysmal), representing a storm that clears the air.

Key Action: Complete unfinished business quickly; if nothing remains, return to equilibrium.

Warning: Avoid flaunting success or dwelling on past wrongs, which invites new obstacles.

Love/Relationships: Ideal for healing old wounds and freeing oneself from toxic patterns.

Your mileage may vary
