neither mentions any attacks on Iraq. This doesn't mean that there weren't any, but if there was, it isn't getting much ink, which, in turn, means that major retaliatory strike is unlikely. It's a weird time, in which the war news is whether or not it is active today or not. Sputnik too is silent on the subject of Iran, so it's time to go make some sort of breakfast.

check the international news via Xitter (I keep an eye on the various "open-source intelligence" accounts), and the provocatively-named subreddit r/anime-titties, where international posters often make statements that could be regarded as actual news.
Nuthin'.
So either there is a bang-up job of suppression going on, or someone thought they had something to gain by fabricating a story. Either option is equally likely, to my way of thinking...

in the county lockbox over the weekend, and I just got confirmation from the county clerk that the ballots were received and counted. I don't think that I've ever felt so unclean after exercising my franchise: having voted, I felt very much like a person who just cleaned out a septic tank with a teaspoon. Naked.
The political ads have become much more vicious in the runup here in CO. Two of the ballot proposals have to do with gender (one to do with gender-affirming medical procedures, and the other, to ban trans kids from playing sports in roles that do not align with their genetic sex). It's a perfect wedge issue battlefield, of course, and some of the ads are in the category of "This bluered-person wants to force sex changes on your children without your knowledge!!!1!11!", and such dreck. The local Fox channel is even more unwatchable than usual, as one would expect. I think that the redblue team realizes that they are in so much trouble that their only chance is to disgust everyone to the extent that they won't vote at all.
The sad thing is that it is likely to be something of a wave election, replacing a handful of redblue people with a handful of bluered people. A good example of this is the execrable Jena "Still Counting!" Griswold, who (having successfully fucked Bernie over in his two presidential runs by suppressing the news of his clear Super-Tuesday primary victories until after he had withdrawn from the races due to "poor performance") has decided to move from Secretary of State to Attorney General.
That would be a hard "no" for this reporter. She completely underscores the fact that the bluered and/or redblue monikers represent a distinction wihout a difference. I left that one blank, because despite everything I still can't bring myself to explicitly vote for her redblue opponent. Last time I voluntarily did that was John Anderson in 1980...
The bluered team will take this wave election as a mandate, of course, and will then proceed to do nothing of any value whatsoever, because of the mean old redblue people and the parliamentarian and the need to move on and the phase of the moon. As is their wont. And yet, and despite that sure knowledge, still I voted.

kind words! I'm still throwing up in my mouth a little, even days later. My gut feels like I just drank a quart of spoiled milk with a clot of bathtub-drain hair in it. Not a fan...

@enhydra lutris
java this morning, watching birds, deer, and, of course, Vinnie eating his breakfast, my mind wondered back to my favorite concerts. Petty opened for Dylan for a couple of tours and was his back up band. The stadium crowd in Houston was overflow. We sat on a blanket in the football field. The crowd went nuts over Petty, and he and his band played 2 encores.

Some headliners: Alberta rejects succession referendum,
UK sends fighter jets to Saudi, US/Kiev relations sour as Z sells
weapons to Mexican drug cartels and,trumpet approval ratings
drop to 31%. Still better than Black Rock Mertz at about 10% in Berlin.
