Empty rhetoric

Good morning everyone.
Pleasant morning here, going to be sunny and calm. A good day to deal with a massive leaf drop around and on top of the house.
Don't have a topic to start things off, but I'm sure we'll find something to talk about.
How about Trump claiming he has brokered a ceasefire with Russia and Ukraine, and then saying Putin breaks the agreement the next day?
Can't make this crap up any better than Trump.
Thread is open.

Hey, good morning
.
Haven't yet had the fall leaf showers. But it is cooler which is a good thing.
Whatever comes out of the trumpet pipe is pretty much disregarded at this
point. It is too bad none of his 'advisors' don't have the cajones to tell him
nobody listen to his lies anymore. This is a severe case of mental masturbation.
Designed to satisfy his sense of omni-importance. The rest of the world can see
it for what it is.
Happy Birthday to Paul Simon. 85 years young today.

Thanks for the OT!

Ditto on the b-day celebration
Will always remember Paul and Art walking out on stage with just a guitar at the Hollywood Bowl waaaay back in the late 60s. IIRC, my first concert I ever attended.
It definitely was not the last.
His childish behavior regarding the loss of the Nobel, and to a woman no less, was cringe worthy.
What would be a real hoot is if Obama publicly offered to gift him his Nobel on the condition he stop crying and stamping his feet and get up off the floor. And maybe promise him an ice cream.
My god it's embarrassing to watch him anymore.
Thanks for the tunes and the post.
Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.

We picked up our ballots
from the PO box over the weekend, and will fill them out and drop them in the lockbox probably tomorrow.
Driving into town from our apartment, we pass a property that is owned by an arch-conservative MAGA type. He performs a true public service by posting big campaign signs for the people he supports. All I need to know when filling out my ballot is whose sign is on his property, and I can simply vote the other way in that particular race.
This is really useful in the county judge, commissioner, and school board races. These supposedly "non-partisan" jobs are critical around these parts, as letting a MAGA into any of those roles is a very bad idea. The ever-so-nonpartisan voter guides studiously suppress any mention of party membership in describing the candidates for a given "non-partisan" office, and essentially every one of the MAGA candidates carefully uses blue ink for their signs, for some utterly unknowable reason. (;-) It is funny to see all those blue signs in the middle of an obviously-red campaign supporter's stash.
Similarly, the ballot measures are generally very carefully titled to misrepresent what they will actually do, in a transparent effort to mislead the voters into voting against their interests: the voter pamphlet this year was some 64 pages of dense obfuscation. Luckily, Mr. MAGA has posted a cheatsheet there as well:
A true community service, to my way of thinking.
On edit: one ballot initiative this cycle, Amendment 85, is an citizen-initiated amendment to the CO constitution that would "require ballot questions to be in plain language at no more than an eighth-grade reading level; and prohibit any state statute from mandating language preceding, following, or in a ballot title of a measure that is not in plain language or exceeds an eighth-grade reading level." In a refreshing change from the norm, this measure is entitled as the "Require Plain Language and Eighth-Grade Reading Level for Ballot Measures Initiative".
This is being floated in an effort to cut down the expected obfuscation, and resulting buyer's remorse, when the underinformed majority wake up and realize they have once again been sold a bill of goods after every damned election. Very few of us read all that dreck in the pamphlet. The MAGAs hate this initiative and vehemently oppose it, of course, and it'll probably go down in flames. Apparently, they like to be lied to, at least by the politicians who wear the red jerseys, and as long as it lets them "own the libs".
Thus, here we are: the politicians have carefully and deliberately brought us to these happy shores, with their ongoing gameplaying. At least we get to vote on what language they can use to lie to us...

Good morning e1. Thanks for the OT. Physical existence
sure keeps one busy. I've ben up and at it since 6 and now have to run out into the actual world outside of our house and yard, and even deal with some people while I'm at it. OTOH, I won't be thinking about Trump, global politics, US politics, etc.
be well and have a good one

Good morning, e1!
87% of outstanding arrest warrants in Germany are for migrants.
I am sure their government has a plan to make Germany safer.
Meanwhile, I am gonna work a bit. I need to prepare a deed for a client. 30 minutes of work, money for 2 weeks of groceries. I can handle that.
How is e2 faring, friend?
Thanks for the OT!

MBS haz a sad! He may have bitten off more than he can
chew.
MBS is a major league f*ck-up.
I can imagine him crawling from one palace bunker to
another. I think he fears his own population more than
the Houthis at this point. His 'kingdom' is so screwed.
And he is to blame. Reap what you sow.
