Good evening Soryang. Thanks for that item, but I have a
wee quibble. The problem isn't that we chose to rely on messypac, it's not that we weren't sufficiently prepared, it's that we were overextended because we are out there meddling in everybody else's affairs. We don't need a 7 ocean fleet, we just need to mind our own goddam business.

messypac?
don't know that one. I agree with your point though. They shouldn't be there in the first place.
Here's another one-

Military Sealift Command Pacific - MSCPAC, pronounced
Messypac by those who worked there or worked with them. At least some were headquartered in Oakland, CA, civilian owned and operated Navy Grey cargo and support ships replacing the Navy support ships that were used during WWII and the first part of the cold war. They were some sort of military-private joint venture.

edited MSCPAC to complete it

Watching this clip from Due Dissidence was fun
You get a picture here of what an especially sly character this Ta-Nehisi Coates is. He spent a fair amount of time building political capital with the creatures of money (certifiably, Obama, and his adoring fans), and then, when he'd finally made it clear that the spotlight was on him, he said, "genocide is bad." And all of the creatures of money, all of the Nice Liberals With Big Egos, are like: "Omigod someone who believes in something!" When in doubt, scream and shout, run around in circles, panic.
This individual Full Slack, whom Keaton quotes, is of interest.
Or here's an alternative speculation: maybe Ta-Nehisi Coates knew what he was doing all along?

Robert Johnson IS the Blues! Even an amateur
fan (me) of the genre knows it!
Just finished reading a review/comment thread of Paul Simon, Graceland, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The comments got into a big argument about appropriation and stealing. Speaking of artists ripping each other off, big deal. Robert Johnson has been ripped off for decades! It's called influencing, and every creative human does it. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery! There is a line somewhere separating it from outright thievery, but that is a tough trick finding that line. JMO. As far as current events go, I'm on permanent vacation. I'm not learning anything new, so what's the point? Rec'd as always for the tunes.

It is that whole lawsuit mentality
.
Maybe a sense of entitlement. Sure, performer X made a song
into a hit, so what gives you the right to their proceeds? Free
money is what it sounds like to me. Yeah, I had that idea 20 years
before anybody commercialized it. But I didn't bother to patent it.
I don't own the idea, so maybe a thousand people came up with the
same idea at the same time (funny how awareness spreads). What are
we going to do, go to court and pay lawyers all sorts of fees to prove
something? Sue me sue you blues.

George Harrison had mixed opinions on
money and taxing it. The other Beatles, not quite so much.
Hope you are staying cool, Q, and everyone else.
