AMID WIDESPREAD REPORTS OF VOTER DISENFRANCHISEMENT AND POLLING PROBLEMS, COMPTROLLER STRINGER ANNOUNCES AUDIT OF BOARD OF ELECTIONS

(New York, NY) – With the New York City Board of Elections confirming that more than 125,000 voters in Brooklyn were removed from voter rolls and widespread reports of voters having trouble accessing polling sites and other polling irregularities, New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer announced today that his office would undertake an audit of the operations and management of the Board of Elections.
“There is nothing more sacred in our nation than the right to vote, yet election after election, reports come in of people who were inexplicably purged from the polls, told to vote at the wrong location or unable to get in to their polling site,” Comptroller Stringer said. “The people of New York City have lost confidence that the Board of Elections can effectively administer elections and we intend to find out why the BOE is so consistently disorganized, chaotic and inefficient. With four elections in New York City in 2016 alone, we don’t have a moment to spare.”

Are getting closer and closer everytime this happens... take away the appearance of fairness in a governing process and bad things happen when the little people reach the boiling point...just ask Nicholas, Louis and Marie.

benefit.

But it is almost certain at this point that this shit is not an accident and the citizens hopefully do not take this laying down.

This is an outrage.

The same thing happened to my wife down here in Florida, we showed up at the polls and she somehow was changed to No Party Affiliation, yet mine was still valid and we did it at the exact same time at the same place...

Something stinks....

but get the impression people are paying attention now. Team Clinton have not done the rest of the Dem establishment any favors by being so brazen with their ethically bankrupt behavior. Or I may just be feeling stupidly optimistic.

but I am not optimistic. The NY Comptroller is an elected one and the current incumbent is a Dem and moderately sleazy from what I can make out. I suspect that this may be a stunt designed to give the appearance of a fair process where none in fact exists but could be wrong.

the real 'news' coverage of this Dem. rigged primary is even more disgusting. It's not just indies who are having trouble many registered Democratic voters are 'mysteriously' finding that they are registered on the voter rolls as no-affiliation. This whole primary is out of hand as far as being blatantly rigged. Who gains by this other then the candidates selected by the bent Dem. machine?

When every Democratic public official from mayors to congress critters and governors endorse HRC and then we see state after state messing with the voter rolls and polling places. You have to be a moron or deluded to think that this primary is democratic or legitimate. How stupid do they think people are.

Why does the Democratic machine think slamming the door on voters is going to get the Mad Bomber into the WH? Unify they are saying stop this democratic nonsense and get behind the owner's selection or else?. Extortion instead of voting. Fuck em. No way will I vote for Hillary. I will vote as useless as it is but even the down ticket Dems. are in the bag. I will not however not vote as this is exactly what they want. Culling the stray Dem. sheeple isn't going to work as at this point there are more of us then the brain washed party royalist's.

cannot bring myself to do that under any circumstances. As far as down ticket races go I'll vote for non-machine Dems (they have a really hard time of it).

Whatever happens with this election I do think that it is the end of a very bad era and that gives me some cause for optimism. The good stuff that is happening now isn't going to suddenly stop once the election is decided. As you say - there is more of us than them (and that scares them crapless)

...Is to just have everyone who shows up to vote today vote regardless of registration status. Register them at the door.

Not that it'll ever happen, but there's enough shenanegans going on to justify it.

Just my opinion.

(Edit: reply meant for MDemocracyfan)
I'd just have all primaries on the same day at same places - both parties and everyone gets to choose one (and only one) to vote in. May not be 100% ideal but it would be fairer than what we have and far less corruptable

All this registering party affiliation stuff is BS.

I would have never thought.

This is one of the reasons I'll no longer vote for politicians, the political system is rigged and corrupt (yes, it has been said before). The other reason is because it's not democracy. I don't want to play anymore if it's not democracy. I don't really trust the sheeple but I trust them more than the politicians who we foolishly portray as representing the sheeple.

"We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty."

The little snippet of an article mentions all the mayhem, but most of the stickers are snarky and unfunny to me in the face of the seriousness of what this election in general and thus this primary means for the nation and the world, since what we do in our country disproportionately affects the rest of the planet.

I'm okay with cynicism as a coping device for people who are fighting against the rampant corruption, but not so much for above-it-all assholes like Slate.

(This reply is not directed at you rmwarnick, just my reaction to the Slate article.)

some transparency is important and a big deal. The country is getting a good hard look at exactly how machine politics operates and this will do the Clinton's no favors whatsoever.

NY may yet turn out to be a Pyrrhic victory for Team Hillary.
