Friday Night Photos Orchid Extravaganza Edition

Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.

Last week the camera club went to the San Diego Botanical Garden for the annual spring orchid exhibit. Just like in years past there was a wide variety of orchids. Unlike in years past how the orchids were displayed and presented was rather mundane and a bit of a disappointment. Oh well. There's always next year. I really would have liked to have done some focus stacking as well as long exposure work but that requires the use of a tripod and do to the confined space of the exhibit tripods are not allowed.

in their shapes and colors.
Amazing flowers.

Traffic is heavy.
Almost has that Santana vibe.

Country style orchids.

Have no idea how the earth flag got there. Make no visual sense. Musta been high at the time.

@QMS
The different size, shapes, and colors of all the species of orchids is amazing.
Fun fact-according to Wikipedia there are about 28,000 species of orchids. That's a lot.
Looks like spring has sprung at your homestead.
I thought the lively Traffic tune would be great for kicking off the holiday weekend. Hope you have a great one.

You put the flag there for this exact moment! It’s a perfect complement to the blue spring Hydrangeas. If you’d rather look at the world through rose coloured glasses, then add some alkaline to the soil they are in ; ). I have always loved the delicate and ephemeral nature of the Morning Glory and its beautiful blue.

Cheers

What a gorgeous display of Orchids. The group of purple orchids at top look like synchronised acrobats ; ). I enjoy how the varied orchids all have different characters. I enjoyed the music as well. Thank you as always.

Not Orchids, but I think they share the same love of humidity.

Be well and enjoy all.

Trippy image.
I liked the placement and spacing of the orchids in the first shot, though I did break general rule of photography #32 (or maybe it's 33), always have an odd number of the same subject. I thought about taking some scissors and clipping one of the orchids but figured the people at the botanical garden wouldn't appreciate that.

Great photos, friend!
Back around 1963 or so, a guy from the Smithsonian Institute came to town to hunt for historical stuff, mostly NA arrowheads and the like. But he found an orchid in a big gully that doesn't grow anywhere in the world but here. I can't find anything about that in a simple google search, but I lived it. I rode my horse through the gully all the time, saw the orchids year after year. Now, developments have made the gully inaccessible to the public. I can't determine if they have been eradicated or not. The people who protected them and made them "famous" were my school teachers and members of the Historical Society, all of whom are long gone.
They were solid white.
What memories...

Kinda cool finding something growing in what is essentially your backyard that doesn't grow anywhere else in the world. Hope they're still growing there.

Twice bitten, permanently shy.

@janis b We were so lucky. Imagine turning a 7 year old girl loose on a bike to go anywhere she could pedal, unchaperoned, perfectly safe. Wondering in the woods to find flowers and wild black berries, no worries about running into some homeless person or happening upon a meth lab.
The Smithsonian guy stayed for an entire summer looking for artifacts. I would visit him often, and he inspired me to visit the Smithsonian the first time I visited DC.
