Friday Night Photos Fancy Flowers Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 05/01/2026 - 5:00pm
Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
Another week of mostly sunny skies and temps in the 70's.
The price of gas where I fill up went up 10¢ a gal. this week to $5.69 . Haven't seen anywhere that's less, but many where it's more, as much as $5.99 a gal. Glad I gave up the gas guzzler (16mpg) four years ago for a hybrid (43mpg).
I played around with a couple of these in photoshop for a little change of pace. #1 I used a filter called dry brush. #6 I used an effect called traditional oil. #11 I used an effect called glow.

Today is the full flower moon

Your choice of subject matter is timely. #6 appears as a
painting and the water droplets in #8 are magical.

Almost getting time to float the boats. Or at least get their bottoms wet. Deal with the winter gremlins.

Hi, Q
Hard to believe it's been 30 days since last months super moon. The car in the lower right hand corner of your photo really helps give you a sense of scale of a 46' boat. Looks like their topsides have been hermetically sealed.

Beautiful flowers SP!
Very nice roses
玫瑰 Méiguī 瞧它多美啊! Roses, See how beautiful! I saw the hanzi for rose in some poem or other recently. I lost the source. I couldn't find it. My better half's best friend's name is Jang mi, which is rose in Korean.
The hanzi characters for rose surprised me, I had to look up the etymology because I mistakenly guessed it was beautiful 美 mei and 貴 gui for precious. Oddly enough, the meaning for the two correct characters is not too different, the meaning given is rose and extraordinary in the regular dictionary. Mei 玫 appears to be to pick a treasure (precious stone) in composition and gui 瑰 is somewhat redundant also meaning rose, but could be viewed as jewel extraordinary, in components. Anyhow this is the little story I've made up to remember it. The tones were slightly different, I know but my tonal comprehension is zip. I'm learning by eyeball, which the masters say is a mistake.
So I found this substitute Tang poem, Spring Dawn, that was simple enough for me to understand...the others were too long.
YanYan was in Anhui again for her latest video. Her objective was to show "simple living." I was amazed at the ages of some of her relatives. I guess it's all the veggies. The countryside is beautiful, as well.
Okay now, back to the real, reality show! Thanks for the break SP!

Hi, soryang
Thank you for the poem and video introducing us to Anhui. After watching the video and seeing all the beautiful wide open countryside it's hard to believe 61 million people live in the province.

This is the original of that great tune you posted:
I'm glad to see I can still recall stuff at my age. Rec'd!!
Inner and Outer Space: the Final Frontiers.
Hi, obf
Glad to hear you're getting some rain. Normally I'd say by this time of year here in the lower left we wouldn't be getting much rain until late fall or winter, but with a super El Niño brewing on the horizon all bets are off.
Thanks for the original of Sally Go Round The Roses. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. On Spotify there are 20 different artist covering the song. Now that's flattery.
