The war news this morning features the Whiner in Chief threatening to huff and puff and blow the lights out in Iran. The goofy Iranians refuse to follow the script and insist on fucking with the world economy, rather than laying down and dying as President Trump wants them to.
Now they’ve really gone and done it! They made the whiner in chief whine yet again. How dare they!

-- it's not over because, among other reasons, the Trump administration has destroyed all basis for negotiation. Trump's successors will have to declare for themselves the unconditional surrender Trump demanded from Iran.
Compare and contrast with what is going on in Ukraine right now. Ukraine had a whole bunch of armies. They're down to their last one. All the US has left now, however, is bombing. The concept of war being applied in both instances, however, is the boiling frog syndrome -- the idea is that a slow dismantling of military might in both instances will eventually "boil the US Empire frog," as it were.
In the Operation Epstein Fury instance, however, the US/ Israel has chosen to accelerate the boiling process dramatically in hopes that it will jump out of the pot. But it cannot jump out of the pot, however, at least not yet. Note the ridiculous measures taken by the Trump administration in hopes of saving things for itself. Sanctions on Russian oil have been temporarily lifted. They are now trying to extort trillions from the Gulf states as -- that's right -- protection money.

The timing was right
In that Iran was at one of it's weakest points, Russia busy elsewhere etc. But to what end?
So far I see no achievable goals. The leadership was easily replaceable. Not easy to have a popular uprising against a govt that is more than willing to shoot. And there is a very large military whose only job is to keep the population in line. Where as most of our warmongers can't imagine beyond a year, Trump couldn't imagine beyond a week.
If the country turned into multi party democracy overnight they have still been bombed to smithereens and it will take a lot to rebuild.
