(Past) Time to Check in on Swami Napolitano

SillyImpromptuSwamiNapo.png

383 days ago, our favorite FOX News-apostate wrote up a fun and plausible litany of predictions for 2025: https://consortiumnews.com/2025/01/02/office-pool-2025/

Time to see how he (and anyone who read it at the time) did!:

No. 1 — On Jan. 1, 2026, Joe Biden will be

a) A criminal defendant in a case brought by the Trump DoJ.

b) Generally regarded as smarter than he appears to be today.

c) Gone from this vale of tears.

d) In hospice.

Seems like none of the above, but the closest would be d): https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/us-news/joe-biden-health-is-th...

No. 2 — On Jan. 1, 2026, Donald Trump will still be

a) Blaming JD Vance for something.

b) Appealing the civil judgments against him.

c) Defending the war he has started in Iran.

d) Sick and tired of giving Bibi Netanyahu everything he wants and getting nothing in return.

Closest would be C), although this date may be jumping the gun - but not by much!
I'd not be surprised if D) is technically true too, even though he dare not say it openly.

No. 3 — In January 2026, JD Vance will

a) Be getting the Mike Pence treatment from the Trump White House.

b) Wish he had stayed in the Senate.

c) Realize that he has become Trump’s poodle.

d) All of the above.

Again, closest seems to be C); at least he's often been the loudest anti-NeoCon voice (for all that that's made any difference).

No. 4 — During 2025

a) Kamala Harris will announce she’s running for governor of California.

b) Chris Christie, having lost 100 pounds — again — will be back in Trump’s good graces.

c) Mike Johnson, having lost the speakership, will be back home in Louisiana teaching Sunday School.

d) Chuck Schumer will realize that he hates being minority leader in the Senate and will announce he’s running for Governor of New York.

NOPE! 0/4!: https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/kamala-harris-governor-california-1.7597745

Oh wait: Partial positive on B)!?: https://wellnessderive.com/chris-christie-weight-loss-journey-explained/

No. 5 — During 2025, the Trump administration will

a) Spend a trillion dollars more than it collects in taxes and fees.

b) Start a war with Iran.

c) Continue supplying Ukraine with military equipment, ammo and cash.

d) All of the above.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe "D)" have a winner! - or, almost; again, he jumped the gun a little - *just a little* - on Iran.

No. 6 — The first of President Trump’s Cabinet to leave will be

a) Marco Rubio, in a principled dispute with the President over Ukraine.

b) Pam Bondi, because she will refuse to seek indictments of persons as to whom there is no evidence of criminal behavior.

c) Tulsi Gabbard, when her own intelligence community drives her from office.

d) Pete Hegseth, because he misses being on air at Fox.

E) None of the above - unless you imagine Marjorie Taylor-Greene to have ever been an "honorary" Cabinet-member, it turns out this Admin's a lot less flaky than his first.

No. 7 — In 2025

a) Pope Francis will pass away and be replaced by a faithful traditional Catholic.

b) Trump will increase the government’s debt by half a trillion dollars.

c) Vladimir Putin will triumph in Ukraine as it becomes a neutral country and forswears NATO membership.

d) All of the above.

A)!!! - well, with a bit of a wrinkle:
PLeoUSACSdMBR3UEUnjt4BaXV7UUV-2577736515.jpg

No. 8 — In 2025

a) Tom Brady will come out of retirement and quarterback the New York Giants.

b) The Yankees will decisively defeat the Mets in the World Series.

c) Patrick Mahomes will retire and replace Tom Brady at Fox.

d) All of the above.

No idea, don't care, someone else may answer, apparently the 2025 World Series involved neither.

No. 9 — By this time next year

a) Notre Dame will have been crowned college football champion.

b) Bill and Hillary Clinton will have announced a formal separation.

c) Victoria Nuland will be No. 2 at the State Department.

d) All of the above.

Again, 0/4! Regarding A): https://www.red94.net/news/31182-national-championship-2025-ohio-state-e...

No. 10 — By this time next year

a) Bibi Netanyahu will be in prison.

b) Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be living in Miami.

c) TikTok, under its present ownership, will be alive and well and popular in the U.S.

d) All of the above.

A) and B) obviously aren't true, and I'm pretty sure C) is now only partly-true at best.

No. 11 — By this time next year

a) Netflix will have put movie theaters out of business.

b) Broadway will be back to its pre-pandemic levels.

c) Trump will buy RFK stadium from the feds and develop it into massive high-rise residences.

d) Some of the above.

B), technically - but it seems rather than jump the gun, he missed it by 2 years: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/broadway-theater-attendance-recovers-pre-pa...
I've heard that NetFlix is endangering movie theaters, and maybe something happened last year to endanger them even more, but for now it appears they're still there.
Trump bought something with a Kennedy name, but it wasn't RFK Stadium.

No 12 — In 2025, Trump will

a) Rescind Executive Order 12333, and the intelligence community will go berserk.

b) Have signed legislation repealing FISA and the Patriot Act.

c) Have banned all domestic spying.

d) None of the above, but while I breathe, I hope.

D), naturally.

No 13 — In 2025,

a) The military-industrial complex will have gotten fatter, richer and more powerful.

b) The U.S. Defense budget will have exceeded $1 trillion.

c) The Trump administration will have started or substantially financed three more wars.

d) All of the above.

A) and B), if I'm not mistaken - but not quite C).

No. 14 — In 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court will

a) Rule that all speech is absolutely protected as a natural right.

b) Rule that the right to travel is a natural right

b) [SIC] Reverse Wickard v. Filburn which held that even infinitesimal, immeasurable, private and personal behavior can be regulated by Congress.

d) None of the above, but while I breathe, I hope.

I'm not 100% sure, but I while think D) is a safe guess, B)-2 has apparently seen a challenge: https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/5383953-we-have-filed-the-case-tha...

No. 15 — In 2025, the majority of Americans will

a) Recognize that war is a racket.

b) Acknowledge that war is the health of the state.

c) Accept all wars because they believe the government’s lies.

d) Condemn the draft as a form of slavery.

I don't know about "the majority", but I think A) and D) are finally gaining steam.

No. 16 — In 2025, historians will finally acknowledge that

a) Lincoln was the first head of state in history to target militarily civilians of his own country.

b) Wilson formed a fourth unaccountable branch of government, unrecognized by the Constitution.

c) FDR was a virulent racist who supported the KKK and put Japanese Americans in concentration camps.

d) All are true, but none will be recognized.

I think by "historians", he must mean some conglomerate institutional bully-pulpit rather than individual historians or even a majority of such learned individuals, but I think B) is gaining traction more via "New Media" than institutions. C) is partly an ad hominem assumption that probably was never true as written, but the latter half has of course been common knowledge for decades (hell, Manzanar was referenced by name in The Karate Kid in 1984!). I'd be astounded if A) were true to start with (a substantial amount of loaded word-mincing is probably required). In any case, I'm not sure what kind of mass-proclamation he was expecting.

No. 17 — 20 are just editorials (most, but of course not all, of which I agree with) rather than prognostication:

IN CONCLUSION: Not a great showing (some luck, some quibbles with timing, some understandable barriers to verifiability), but he could definitely have done worse. This would have gone over fairly poorly as an actual "office pool".

Yes Virginia, there is a Global Banking Conspiracy!

@The Liberal Moonbat Trump and various "leaders" around the world are so nuts, no one could have predicted what they would do.

@The Liberal Moonbat

It's free, and multi-featured. May confuse the (bleep!) out of you at first, until you get used to it. (I'm still using Corel Paintshop Pro, which isn't free but isn't very expensive - especially if you catch a sale. Older versions can be had free if you know where to look but aren't supported.)

not his bailiwick. That is why he brings in 'experts'.
Thanks for putting this out here.

I cried when I wrote this song. Sue me if I play too long.

Case 1, history is long, some Roman emperors, english kings, pharoahs and, I believe hittite kings are examples.

Case 2 - assuming that he meant specifically the US, Andy Jackson; also Whiskey Rebellion, Washington sent troops to quell it, but the rebels evaporated before the troops got there (partial credit)

be well and have a good one

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

@enhydra lutris Also, "fun" fact about the Whiskey Rebellion: It and the nasty precedent it set are yet ANOTHER thing we can blame on Alexander Hamilton. Who needs Benedict Arnold when the royalists had that insidious mole?

But prognostication is not his forte. That is why he brings in
popular 'experts' for his shows. He does make some statements
but mostly just asks questions for the enlightenment of issues.
