Hey, that first bird
.
has a surprising cumberbund
of purple. Doesn't care if it
clashes with the lime green coat.
Nothing is easy.
Tull was great. Saw him do his flute
strut at some small college in
northerrn MI '74. Before the 'Aqualung'
and 'thick as a brick'.
Mostly Benefit & Stand-up.

Thanks for the birdies!

Hi, Q
That Emerald Starling was a tough one to get a shot of. Hiding in the foliage and not sitting still for long when they're not hiding. Nothing is easy when photographing small birds.
Great Tull selections. Passed up on a chance to see Tull in 76 for a trip to Colorado.

Hi Social
I wonder what one has to be to deserve a cloak of such stunningly beautiful and iridescent colours as the Emerald Starling?
Here's a sweet video of the highly endangered blue-crowned laughing thrush ...
Thank you for observing in such living colour and detail the birds.
I often think of dystopian and hope he is well
Thanks for the video, Janis
Amazing how they get the cameras so close to the nests.

Hi all
Some recent photos
The sheath of a Nikau flower about to be exposed -

A young Tui bird leaving a Nikau flower -

And just for fun, a pruned plum branch about to leaf and a very small stone that looks like a leaf -

Enjoy the weekend everyone
Hi, Janis
Thanks for all the green. It's the end of summer so things are looking real brown around here. If you hadn't identified the stone, I would have thought it was a leaf.

Hi Social
I'm sure you could use some rain by now. We're going into what is usually a dry season, although the green remains. I'm hoping for a relatively moderate summer.
We need rain
We only had 4.58" last winter. Hopefully we will get more this winter.

Exquisite photos, SP. My fave has to be the Red-Crowned
Crane. Yours, too, jb.
I love, love, love the Tull tunes. Saw them lightyears ago in ECFL. I think it was the Aqualung tour. Guess who opened for them? Yes (the band). They blew everyone out of the room, and they hadn't even released their American debut yet. My fave LPs are Stand Up! and the American version of Benefit. Hubster is a Tull Head. He actually met Ian Anderson when he went to the back of the St. Pete (FL) venue to smoke a cig. Anderson was doing in the same, and was not dressed in his stage clothes yet. Good times, fer sure! Everyone take care. We are almost done with storm season. Hooray!!!!
Rec'd!!
Inner and Outer Space: the Final Frontiers.
Hi, obf
As mentioned to Captain Q above, I passed on a chance to see Tull in concert back in 76 for a trip to Colorado.
Hope the rest of your storm season is as mild as it has been so far. I don't want a hurricane, but we sure could use some rain this winter. We only had 4.58" last winter.
