I contacted the Ogden Police Dept. who got me in touch with the person who could discuss the autopsy report on the cause of death of our great friend, snoopydawg, a/k/a, Tracy Baker.
She died from a heart attack. Date of death was likely the 21st or 22nd of June. Her last comment here was the 20th of June.
Sam has been placed, so she will be fine.
A burglar did crawl into the home through the doggie door and stole all electronics and other various and sundry valuables, but there was no evidence of criminality as a cause of death.
She was cremated, so no obituary was published.
RIP, my dear, dear friend.

Thank you
On the Cusp,
Thank you for persevering and learning some autopsy details about Snoopydog.
Her commentary is sorely missed here.
I trust that Sam is adjusting to her new home.
I have had heard nothing but high praise for the animal shelter
that rescued Sam. I initially considered adopting her and received their application, and it was thorough. They make sure the placement home is up to their high standards.
I did tell the relative I spoke to that she wanted a cremation, no funeral service. That really made him feel better.
Her home, camper, and vehicle are up for sale, and her personal belongings are likely being donated to a charity.
She was in bad health, given the meds left behind, so we are lucky to have had her with us al long as we did.

I may contact the shelter
to see if the new owners would sort of keep me informed on all things Sam.
I will say the Ogden Police Dept. is very professional, and every single officer with whom I dealt was extremely courteous. More than one told me they were sorry I lost a friend and expressed sympathies.
This is not the interaction I typically have with f*king cops!
Well, I had to do this, as getting to the truth is my stock and trade, Will. And her friends on this site deserved to know as well.

So glad you did OTC
her and Sam’s circumstances have often been on my mind.
such a relief that her death must have been very sudden.
If you do get some updates on Sam and her rehomed life, they would be appreciated.
I sent an email this afternoon
to the animal shelter. I asked them to give my name and number to the new owner(s) as I knew details about Sam's favorite toys and favorite activities. Maybe they will. I am crossing fingers and toes!

One last thing:
All of her cameras were stolen. The police have no clues, no leads.

I cannot help but be spooked.
UNLESS she was, I don't really know, an at least semi-well-known collectrix of exotic and expensive cameras, that seems like too bizarre (and sadly, too obsolete-seeming for most people these days) a specialty-target to not raise suspicion.
I had an otherwise financially-mean relative with a considerable pipe-collection, but nobody ever burgled that.

Tracy was a professional photographer
and had a small income stream from sales of her work. Over the year, she had accumulated some expensive equipment.

thank you for following up

sad to see her gone

Yeah, Cap'n,
I thought I owed it to everybody to put the lid on it. I am relieved she didn't suffer. She had suffered more than enough already.

Thank you so much for these updates, otc.
I know you loved her and were part of her family. It's hard on you, but now, you have closure.
I only knew snoopy through our mutual love of dawgs, and her participation in the Weekly Photo Diary. I hope the Grim Reaper was gentle and quick. She deserved as much. You take good care! I'll be seeing you on here, so behave. LOL.

Good morning obf.
I miss "Look in the mirror!"
I was relieved to hear Sam has re-homed.
I had also been worried that Tracy had injured herself in a fall, so news of a heart attack does indicate her death was abrupt and not a long term painful occurance.
Uh, I am unfamiliar with the concept of behaving myself, friend. I could use some pointers.

Ditto on the thanks
for following up and keeping us in the loop. You have proven yourself to be a true friend of the highest order, and I for one appreciate the knowledge, as it helps dissipate some of the fears from not knowing.
I’m saddened to hear of the camera gear. Those who would conduct thievery after a personal disaster are the absolute lowest form of thief, to my way of thinking. When our house burned, the local TV station put not only the street name but also the house number on the air as part of their happy news coverage. It might as well have been an engraved invitation. The “salvage company” boarded everything up as soon as the fire was out, but thieves broke in overnight and trashed everything that hadn’t burned at the outset, while stealing the remains of my wife’s jewelry.
We stayed with friends overnight. When I arrived at the remains of the house the next morning at 8am to meet the insurance adjuster, I found her standing on the front step blocking the boarded-up doorway (which had been kicked open). “Don’t go in,” she said, “they might be setting up a squat”.
Oh, really? She was a tiny little snip of a thing, perhaps all of 5 feet and 100lb. I put one hand on each shoulder, very gently moved her out of the way, and went inside. Just inside the front door we had a little 9-bottle wine rack. The wine had all cooked out in the fire, but the bottles were still there. I grabbed one by the neck, as a club, and said in what I thought was a very reasonable, though loud, voice:
“If any of you motherfuckers are still here, come out right fucking now. I want to *dance*.”
I meant it. As luck would have it, they were long gone. But I swear to you that, had one or more presented themselves, I would have beaten them to death with that wine bottle, and then stomped them into unrecognizability, and then urinated and/or defecated on the mangled corpses, and finally set fire to them if I had the time to do so before the cops dragged me away. If they had been armed, they might have killed me. I didn’t care.
I have never been that angry before, and hope never to be again. It was bad enough to lose everything- but then to be violated afterwards was more than this reporter was able to handle. Even today, years later, I experience a quickening of the pulse and an itching of the knuckles, just remembering the scene.
Not a fan of thieves. Be safe out there.
Twice bitten, permanently shy.
The theft question in my is when did it happen?
The cops would have secured the home on July 2nd. Surely they secured the doggie door. That would mean the thief would have been stepping over the body of the women he/she was robbing between June 21 and July 2. People like that deserve the harshest punishment life can present to them.
I have been at your point of anger at least 4 times. A young woman slapped my mom, and 2 guys had to peel my hands off her throat. A man hit my dad, and I disarmed him and pointed his gun at him. A man hit my paraplegic husband, deceased in 1998, and I grabbed a deer rifle and fired one warning shot over his head and warned him to keep running away. If he had so much as stopped and turned around, I would have killed him. The only time I protected myself was when an estranged wife of one of my divorce clients threatened me, and I armed myself with a beer bottle, and told her to come at me at her peril.
I completely understand what was surging through your brain, friend.

Many thanks for the news...
I miss Snoopy's voice here at C99. At least it appears she didn't suffer. As to the camera equipment, she won't need it any more.
I hope Sam is happy in her new home.
Thanks again for the update/ closure!
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Ya know, Tracy
had many challenges in her life that she bravely confronted. She had courage.
I am gonna confess my need to absolve myself from guilt. As soon as I learned she was found dead, I started wondering if my 10 day delay was the problem, that if I had called the cops sooner, she might still be alive. I have had some sleepless nights worrying if I made a mistake of my lifetime.
Anyway, she is and always will be, missed.

Hi otc, and thank you for this news.
I've thought about how you could have helped snoopydawg. I don't think it was possible. Even someone there would have had a hard time getting help in time. It sounds like it was sudden and quick. I surely hope so as it would have saved her from suffering.
I agree that she was a courageous person and lived to the fullest possible every day. Her doggies helped get her up and going and she returned the love with love and joy. I knew just enough to understand she was impaired and in serious pain. Getting up each day was an affirmation.

I think you also brought love and joy to Tracey. From the brief interactions here it was clear there was trust.
Reste calme as they say here. N'inquite pas. Do not worry. She is at peace and would love to send you peace as well.
Thank you.

I wanted to know that she didn't suffer. And to pass on that
good news. What a relief! I hope each and every one of us goes out quickly, and not have to linger on in pain.
Well, every day for her was a battle, and every night she lived, she knew she won the day.
I hope I can continue at least a casual friendship with her relative.

otc, you are grieving over the loss
of a beloved friend. This is the other side of true love, and you bet it hurts. It is also a normal human process. Believe me, I know. Man, have I been through it. The one strength in my corner is I know how to write and communicate. What you are doing is one of the oldest and most successful psychological therapies still round. They work. I'll be frank with you: I am concerned about JtC. If Joe s or anyone else else knows how he is doing, please post.

Catharthis.
I am thriving on it.
JtC is tired on the week of chemo, normal on the week of no chemo. Labs show improvement.
He is a tough bastard.
He appreciates you asking.

I'm thankful to hear news about JTC as well..
Thank you. Chemo is hard. I am glad the labs are showing improvement.

Thank you otc
for all the support you have given to snoopy and sam, and all on this site.
Cheers!
You and all site member are so welcome.
We all needed to know the truth, and we finally got it.
She went to the dr. for her pain meds regularly. I am really shocked they had not given her a complete physical from time to time. Different state, different insurance companies, but this heart condition would have been very likely been detected here in Texas.
Enjoy being in Paradise, chica!

And thank you for being so caring and diligent for snoopydawg, sam, and their memories (and Sam's future). I miss her and her tales of Sam!
