The man took this advice to heart and returned after a month to say that he had learned to listen to every word his wife was saying.

Said the Master with a smile, "Now go home and listen to every word she isn't saying".

There’s a story about the pirate who into a bar and ended up talking with the bartender.
The bartender asked him, “How did you get that peg?”
“A big ol’ shark came up to me while I was swimmin’ off me ship and bit off me leg,” said the pirate.
“Where did you get that hook then?”
“Well, me crew and I were in a battle and me hand was cut off by a sword.”
“And how did you get the eye patch?”
“We were anchored in harbour and I looked up just as a filthy sea gull relieved itself - right in me eye.”
The bartender was puzzled. “How would that make you need an eye patch?”
“Well,” said the pirate, “it was me first day with the hook.”
