Good morning, good friends! WWIII has been postponed as of this composition!

One of the blessings of weekends is I can shut off the alarm and sleep as late as I wish. And, I can do as I damn well please, without having to follow professional protocols, such as dress code. And prohibition of foul language.

A friend stopped in, might have some lawsuit I can file. Staunch Democrat, party chairman, blah blah blah, for 40 years. His take on the war mongering Democrats of today is that he is old, the kids will have to deal with it.

A lawyer pal, another blue no matter who person, delved into current events with me. She called out the genocide in Gaza. She is msm watcher, brags about also getting news from Europe, but it likely the BBC. She did not know the definition or origin of Zionism. Or the history of the organized exodus of Ashkenazi Jews from Europe by agreement with Hitler. All she knew about was that Yalta Treaty.

Anyway, I just want to report we saw the mom and fawn again a couple of times this week. We also saw a mom and twin fawns, and Dear One says our acreage is a baby deer nursery.

We are perfectly ok with that!

Have a great relaxed weekend! The heat wave is abating, and it is becoming more pleasant to be outdoors. Still best to get up early to do chores.

@Lookout The heat hasn't set in yet here. And rain is constant. Come August, I will look back upon this time with fondness, forgetting the unpleasantness of driving on flooded roads and walking in mud.
That video was very interesting, Nothing starts the day like a cup of coffee and truth.
Last week, there were some msm articles slamming Trump for auctioning off 530 million acres
of public lands, opening up national forests to logging. To dig deeper, who can out bid Black Rock and Gates? The articles were all about Trump Bad. Well, he is not alone in that category.
I can't reconcile planting trees to capture carbon, then cutting them down elsewhere as climate change positive tactic.
The water table is very high here. Sometimes digging a 4 ft. deep ditch can get muddy at the bottom. A well is very possible. A neighbor literally drove a 10 ft. pipe 8 ft. into the ground, put a manually operated pump on the end of it, had a well in a day's time.

Increased incidence of pancreatitis, possibly linked to Ozempic and all those similar drugs. IIrc those are pretty much the 10 drugs that Biden famously made cheaper for those under medicare. Superficial hipshot analysis. Diabetes is essentially a disease or condition of the pancreas - in type one, the body attacks and destroys the insulin producing cells in the pancreas. In type ii, the body becomes insulin resistant and the pancreas can't keep up. So, take a drug designed to alleviate type II diabetes for weight loss instead of its proper purpose and whatever its action or interaction on/with the pancreas is uncalled for and ...
I call this type of thing the ironic biology syndrome. Wink

@enhydra lutris I just do not trust any weight loss wonder drug. Obesity isn't a sudden life and death matter. It takes a long while to kill you, a sufficient time for a person to change their diet and exercise routine, and not rely on those wonder drugs, and not die from side effects of obesity. If drug addicts can kick their habit, if alcoholics can stop drinking, an obese person can lose weight.
Our local dr. in this community of 800 to 900 hundred people, has so many patients on Ozempic that the local pharmacy is constantly running out of it.
We will just have to see what the good and bad effects of the floating fish farm will be.
If China tells us, that is...
I hope the shopping went well, dear friend. I made a commitment do do some house cleaning. That and going to a dentists' office are my two most hated activities. Ah, well, it is what it is!

...and apparently it's related. I don't think any territorial rights adhere to these structures. At least not under UNCLOS. They only get a 150m safety zone if I recall correctly. I'm waiting to hear the respective positions of both governments on having fix structures in the PMZ. I recall vaguely that North Korea had rented out to China fishing rights in it's area of the EEZ to get foreign exchange. But that was a few years ago. I don't think that the Yellow Sea location in the PMZ involves North Korea at all. There was a confrontation as I recall in the West Sea between South Korea and the Chinese fishing vessels when they approached too closely to the MDL actually adjacent and proximate to the North Korea coast. I'm no marine biologist but I think the greatest threat is fishing out this region. I'd rather see aquaculture than the Chinese fishing factory fleet in my neighborhood. They can negotiate or limit the structures bilaterally. South Korean conservatives and the west will use the issue to generate anti-China national security issues.

It was confirmed on Apr. 20 that the large fixed maritime structure China installed without authorization in the Provisional Measures Zone (PMZ) of the Yellow Sea originated as an oil drilling rig decommissioned after service in the Middle East. China is believed to have purchased the retired rig, expanded and modified it, and placed it in the PMZ under the guise of a “fish farm support facility.” Experts say the installation amounts to a “mini artificial island,” built under the pretense of supporting fisheries in a zone where non-fishing activities—including the construction of facilities and resource extraction—are strictly prohibited. They warned the structure could affect the undefined maritime boundary between South Korea and China.

Iran decided to ban the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency from its nuclear facilities and to remove surveillance cameras from them, claiming it discovered Israel’s government obtained “sensitive facility data,” according to media reports Saturday.

The vice speaker of the Iranian parliament, Hamid Reza Haji Babaei, announced the decision to bar IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on Saturday during funerals of top military officials and nuclear scientists killed by recent Israeli strikes, Mehr news agency reported.

A ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and Iran, after a war that lasted 12 days. Israel had attacked Iranian highly protected nuclear facilities with drones and warplanes, aiming to prevent the regime from building a nuclear bomb, triggering counterattacks over Israeli’s cities from the Iranian regime.

Iran previously allowed the IAEA to access and inspect its nuclear plants and use sophisticated surveillance devices as a crucial commitment within the nuclear deal Tehran signed with France, Russia, the U.K., the U.S., Germany and the European Union in 2015 to keep its nuclear program under control.

Trump is conflating several issues here. He's simultaneously coercing South Korea, ostensibly an ally, five ways: 1) Tariffs 2) Assume more US military cost sharing to pay for US force presence in Korea 3) engage S. Korea in the anti-China military alliance by buying into the Taiwan dispute 4) pressure SK to increase its defense budget 5) Continue to "de-couple" from China economically, which has seriously damaged the South Korean economy.

Eldridge Colby backs the program, while at the same time, promoting the notion that S.Korea should provide for its own defense and get nuclear weapons if necessary. He's nuts.

Trump apparently forgets what he did to North Korea at Hanoi in Feb. 2019, which drove Kim into Russia's arms. He also forgets the example he provided in Iran just recently attacking Iran's nuclear program directly. Kim isn't going to forget any of these things. Trump could try to bribe Kim up front by pre-emptively lowering sanctions and reducing US military presence, but Kim isn't going to change his nuclear weapons program. Any preemptive sanctions relief or reduced tempo or presence in US military operations in S.Korea will be received negatively by the MIC, the media, and Congress at home. Then Trump would have to make some theatrical move and flipflop. His erratic actions, if anything, would be very destabilizing and potentially lead to war.
