Friday Night Photos Garden Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 05/23/2025 - 5:00pm
Welcome to Friday Night Photos everyone. Your once a week break from the daily madness of the crazy world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest that helps you escape the madness.
Back at the beginning of the month I went to the San Diego Botanical Garden for their World of Orchids exhibit (May 9th FNP). After spending an hour in the exhibit I spent another hour wandering around the rest of the gardens.

Capturing these images is a prize.
Thanks!

Hi, Q
You've got one heck of a back yard.
Thanks for the JW. One hell of a guitarist. If only he was still alive and well.

A retirement project.

Hi Social
They are beautiful gardens. I especially liked the palm and fern-like drooping fronds along the path, and the Japanese garden with the Angel's Trumpet in full flower. I also enjoyed the hallucinogenic music, thank you.
Of all the landscaping
at the SDBG, the garden with the Angel Trump is my favorite.

I hope your weekend is shaping up well.

The square glass shape in the pattern
will hopefully become a terrarium of a miniature garden. I haven't had a terrarium since the 70s, so wish me good luck.
Hi, janis
Nature has provided you with a great natural garden. Love the patterns cast from your soon to be terrarium. Looking forward to seeing the miniature garden when it's done.

Hi Q
It is always a pleasure to read your poetic haikus in response to the imagery. They are also food for thought for me.
So beautiful!
At first I mistook the Angel’s Trumpet for Datura.
I love botanical gardens. Honolulu has a small one near Chinatown, our dad took us kids there a few times when I was little.

The Palmengarten was one of my favorite places in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, back when I lived in Hesse / the Rhine-Main area.

And some friends invited me to come along with them to Longwood Gardens near Wilmington, Delaware, years ago.

Hi, lotlizard
Thanks for all the links. The fountain show at the Longwood Gardens looks worth the price of admission alone.

I always look forward to the weekends
cos of diaries like this one.
Great visuals, you all! I'm looking forward to your photo of your terrarium when it's finished, jb. Hey Sp, does the SDBG have one of those large corpse smelling plants? They are always written about when they bloom. We've got several of those Trumpet bushes in our yard. Started them from cuttings gifted to us by a friend's mother. They grow like weeds here, and are poisonous to many furry critters. Stay safe and cool, gang. Rec'd!!

Hi, obf
Yes, the garden does have two corpse plants. They both bloomed last summer.
This was the first one to bloom in late June. The other one bloomed later in the summer.
