election in El Salvador were predetermined in advance.

https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-white-house-el-salvador-kilmar-a...

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s top advisers and Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, said Monday that they have no basis for the small Central American nation to return a Maryland man who was wrongly deported there last month. Bukele called the idea “preposterous” even though the U.S. Supreme Court has called on the administration to “facilitate” Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s return.

Trump administration officials emphasized that Abrego Garcia, who was sent to a notorious gang prison in El Salvador, was a citizen of that country and that the U.S. has no say in his future. And Bukele, who has been a vital partner for the Trump administration in its deportation efforts, said “of course” he would not release him back to U.S. soil.

“The question is preposterous. How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States?” Bukele, seated alongside Trump, told reporters in the Oval Office Monday. “I don’t have the power to return him to the United States.”

Luisa González is contesting the National Electoral Council (CNE) vote count and demanding a recount following Sunday’s presidential election runoff. The presidential candidate of the Citizens’ Revolution addressed supporters who packed the campaign house on Reina Victoria Avenue, in the city of Quito.

She thanked those who support her political project and was energetic in expressing that the Citizens’ Revolution has always recognized defeats at the polls, but not this time, “On behalf of the people we represent we do not recognize the results presented by the CNE”.

“I refuse to believe that there is a people that prefers lies before the truth, violence before peace and unity, I categorically refuse to believe it… we are going to ask for a recount and that the ballot boxes be opened”.

Figures shown on the official website of the CNE positioned González trailing incumbent Daniel Noboa by 11-points, with 96.94% of votes counted—despite that exit polls showed the candidates with a margin of only four points, and at least one widely published exit poll gave González the victory.

At the same time, nearly all voter intention surveys conducted in the weeks leading up to the vote showed González poised to win the runoff.

Her campaign received many key endorsements ahead of the second round, including from the Pachakutik indigenous movement, whose candidate Leonidas Iza came in third in the first round.

Noboa, who’s name has become associated with corruption and narco-trafficking, took drastic measures alongside the CNE authorities in the final days before the contest, including decreeing a state of exception in seven provinces, closing land borders, preventing international observers from entering the country, suspending the vote for Ecuadorians in Venezuela, and relocating polling stations just hours before the vote.

The rest of the tweet:

Private equity firms are increasingly getting involved. Some of the biggest investors in America have moved into this industry. People living at a local mobile home park outraged over the sharp increase in lot rents. Rents were raised by nearly 60%.”

Resident “I worked for 45 years. There is no American dream anymore. All it is survival.”

“Homes of America has gone on a buying spree spending nearly $300 million to acquire 138 parks across 17 states. They've raised rents and aggressively evicted residents.” and that’s just ONE FIRM buying, there are many more

Resident says “I don't know what I'm gonna do. Hope that I don't wake up tomorrow. Death crossed my mind.” She can only afford one more month of rent

How much more will the American People continue to take?

@humphrey

Who do they think their future clients are going to be? Or maybe they will make the parks slums for the unfortunate and then they can get a tax break?

I feel damn sorry for people going through this. It’s been happening for decades so no I don’t believe anyone will put a stop to it. That’s what the plan was when they shipped the jobs offshore.

is saying people with unhealthy lifestyles should not be supported by taxpayers and should not get government healthcare. It's their fault.
His examples were doughnuts and smoking.
Now, the only way government knows if I eat doughnuts and smoke all day is a CBDC system.
I have heard no response from him about the recent photos from Gaza showing starving, bony, dying children. I guess his children's health policies are for the health of non-Palestinian, rich kids who can afford organic food, dieticians, or something like that.
I would have voted for the sob if he had been on the ballot. I will encourage EVERYONE to disregard my opinion on presidential candidates forever. I get blindsided over, and over, and over.

of the scientifically debunked claim that childhood vaccines cause autism and his full throated support for Zionist Israel was more than enough for me to say a big fat no to this guy. Too stupid and too arrogant. Another old guy looking to play dictator.

@Marie1 @Marie1 @Marie1 being Zionist. Not sure where that came from. He has influencers we do not know about. It was a shitty surprise to me, turned me against him forever.
I am going to sit on the fence about the cause of autism.
There are correlations in vaccines, food additives, pollution, and so many other things common today to when the autism rate is 1 per 37, 30 years ago, 1 in 1,000, and go back another 50 years, 1 per 10,000. Correlation is not causation, but correlation is supposed to be a starting point for research. The theory it is genetic has worn thin, worn out. I have friends with 4 autistic kids, 2 mom. 4 different dads, no such thing in any of their family trees. Wtf? We need to debunk, debunk, until that one scientific finding can't be. We can't let it go on as it is.

edit: 1 mom, 4 autistic kids, 4 fathers, all parents left the kids in the care of the maternal g'ma.
No autism in any family tree, all parents live in different communities. Not all of the kids were born in the same hospital.

It seemed to me that the purpose of this program was to throttle down the number of vaccine injury tort suits. There are circumstances where symptoms that manifest acutely during a very short time period after administration may be presumptively attributed to designated vaccines. Notwithstanding, the claim may be denied if it attributable to another cause. The government write up says only one person per one million is considered to have a covered side effect attributable to covered vaccines. There are other barriers to entry. This isn't intended as legal or forensic advice. I saw there is a disclaimer on the government web site as well. Measles and MMR are on the list.

I noted the existence of this system about 20 years ago. It looks to have been designed by the manufacturers. imo. It's a huge hurdle to prove causation for adverse effects at trial that are not on the presumptive list. Haven't heard anything on this front, but I don't follow it anymore. I know younger people on the spectrum, and I know two profoundly autistic children, personally, which is saying alot because I don't get around much. I don't know that many children. I wondered if RFK had successfully pursued any non-presumptive cases at the Federal Court of Claims?

How many petitions have been awarded compensation?
According to the CDC, from 2006 to 2023 over 5 billion doses of covered vaccines were distributed in the U.S. For petitions filed in this time period, 13,183 petitions were adjudicated by the Court, and of those 9,551 were compensated. This means for every 1 million doses of vaccine that were distributed, approximately 1 individual was compensated.

Since 1988, over 28,292 petitions have been filed with the VICP. Over that 30-year time period, 24,779 petitions have been adjudicated, with 11,821 of those determined to be compensable, while 12,958 were dismissed. Total compensation paid over the life of the program is approximately $5.3 billion.

@soryang but it is easy to see that winning a claim is rxtremely difficult.
No doubt the whole program is slanted toward protecting Big Pharma, not patients.

...in PPV vaccine litigation and roundup litigation from some older news articles. His son works for the firm, apparently RFK gets a 10% fee share for getting clients, but doesn't actually participate in litigation. It's confusing to read the reports.

Although I haven’t read what RFK jr said about Americans with unhealthy life styles, and believe that all should be treated equally, I also believe that it would be advantageous all around if more people take more responsibility for their diet and personal health. I’m not saying that I agree with RFK jr, because I don’t understand his overall health policy, which In some ways seems conflicting. He didn’t support the public option, which I thought could be designed to provide healthcare for all. It would require higher taxes on products that contribute to ill health, which in turn would require individuals to give more consideration to the amount they consume. For instance, a pack of 20 cigarettes costs $28us here. The difference between the cost of gas in the US and here is relatively the same - NZ being 300-400% higher. Most of the cost is in taxes to cover the national medical costs of treatment, and to reduce environmental pollution. I do though appreciate his focus on the pharmaceutical and processed food producers unhealthy control of healthcare.

The analysis about the efficacy or not of vaccines, by Dr. John Campbell was the best news I've heard in a while. I hope that, as it is based partially on a live study at the cleveland clinic, it will get some traction.

Here's the original video from Campbell

Saudi Arabia is planning to pay off the debts owed by Syria to the World Bank, according to three sources cited by Reuters on 14 April.

“Saudi Arabia plans to pay off Syria's debts to the World Bank … paving the way for the approval of millions of dollars in grants for reconstruction and to support the country's paralyzed public sector,” the sources said.

“Damascus is short of foreign currency and a previous plan to pay off the debts using assets frozen abroad did not materialize … World Bank officials have discussed providing financing to help reconstruct the country's power grid, heavily damaged by years of war, and also to support public sector pay,” they added.

A Saudi Finance Ministry source told the outlet that “We do not comment on speculation, but make announcements, if and when they become official.”

Reuters had reported over the weekend that Syria will be sending a delegation to the US for the annual World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) meetings in Washington later in April.

The extremist-led Syrian administration of Ahmad al-Sharaa, which assumed power after the fall of former president Bashar al-Assad’s government, has been hoping to secure some relief from the heavy sanctions imposed on Damascus over the years.

Syrian government forces killed over 1,500 Alawites in a series of bloody sectarian massacres early last month. Tens of thousands have been displaced and have fled to Lebanon.

Syria’s debt at the World Bank stands at around $15 million, which must be paid before the international financial institution can approve a grant and any other kind of financial assistance.

Another green card holding Palestinian protester was arrested when he went to take his citizenship test. He contacted Bernie and the other senator who promised they would have his back….but no one knows where he is being held.

The Supreme Court told Trump that he has the right to deport people to ES, but only after they have had their due process. Trump deported 10 more people anyway. Trump can deport people to their own countries, but he can’t send them to a prison hell hole in another country unless they are found guilty of a crime.

Some good news tho. Harvard is standing up to Trump for his threats against them. Too bad that many law firms have just folded without even trying to fight him.
