The Plimsoll Line is a line painted on a ship's hull. It indicated the waterline corresponding to the maximum depth to which the ship should sink under maximum load, or the maximum safe draft of the ship or the minimum freeboard. It evolved into a group of lines because the buoyancy of a floating objects depends upon the salinity and temperature of the water in which it floats. It is a boon to shippers, ship owners, captains and crews and maritime commerce.
On this day in 1763 the Treaty of Paris ended the "French and Indian War". This "war" was but the North American theater of the Seven Years' War. On this day in 1967 the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified. If provides for a sort of peaceful coup as to the President of the USA under certain conditions as well as assorted other things.

Good morning...
The Plimsoll Line is a new term to me. Always nice to learn something new.
Hope your weather is improving. We're expecting 10+ inches of rain here over the next couple of weeks. That ought to cure the drought and fill the pond.
We're off to see the sandhill cranes about 1.5 hours N of us before the deluge.
Thanks for the OT and all the music!

Load lines
Is what we called them Plimsoll marks.
It was required on commercial vessels.
Could always tell it was going to be a squishy ride
when the port one read above 'safe handling' level
and the starboard one was a bit light in the loafers.
Wasn't a problem in fair weather, just had to adjust
the rudder for the plow. In wavy conditions, different
story. She wanted to roll more, which was a bit dangerous
on deck. Cargo liked to shift which played havoc on the
deck crew and goose necks from the tanks. Smashola.
Saw a few vessels lost that way. Read the lines!

Heh, it would be a heckuva deal for Denmark, but I
suspect that the California populace would refuse to join NATO, which might quash the deal. After all, were on the Pacific, not the North Atlantic.

Much busier day than I planned on.
The rain comes tonight, stays until Thursday, very near freezing here are there for the rest of the week. People have been in shorts and tees for days. It is gonna be a shocker.
Gaza ceasefire is on the verge of falling apart. Let the genocide games begin. Again.
Love the music! Leontyne Price was all that. I attended one of her concerts in Houston back in the day.
As I toured Rio, Peter Allen's song was in my head. Good thing, since I love it!
Have a great Monday evening, dear friend.
