Friday Night Photos On A Mission From God Edition
Welcome to Friday Night Photos everyone. Your once a week break from the daily madness of the crazy world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest that helps you escape the madness.
Last month the camera club's outing was at the Univ. of San Diego. The monthly challenge was architecture. USD is a Catholic university, and while I'm not a believer of the invisible man in the sky, I do appreciate a lot of the art, music and architecture the believers have created in his honor.
At USD some of that architecture can be found inside the Immaculata Parish, one of the two churches on campus. The other church, the Founders Chapel, has some excellent artwork at the back of the altar.

There's that fountain again. It sure does get around.
An altar fit for a Pope. With plenty of room for his hat.
"The Flying Spaghetti Monster Descends" I had to lie on the floor to get this shot of the fiber optic light fixture in the science and technology bldg

It wouldn't be a church without lots of stained glass

There are a lot of fountains on the campus. This is the fountain in front of the Joan B Kroc Peace and Justice bldg. Joan was the late wife of Ray Kroc, late owner of McDonald's and the San Diego Padres.

When I see Jesus hanging on the cross here I think to myself, man, I wish my abs were that well defined.

In the Land of the Blind, the One-Eyed Man is declared mentally ill for describing colors.
Yes Virginia, there is a Global Banking Conspiracy!
I'd consider the cat or squid one
Thanks Moonbat!
Really?
I never would've guessed....

Maybe I should find out the mythology of the representation
of different gods, I might change my mind. I might retract it ; ).
Hi again Moonbat
I would be interested in your knowledge and interpretation of the Great Chthulhu to consider why I might have spontaneously chosen that image.
My only guess would be...
Other than that, I am at a loss for what to say, and much, much too amused....

Enjoy the weekend
Hi, Moonbat
Which god? Good question. I guess whichever one trips your trigger.
Nice selection of gods and art work.
I'm great at multi-tasking. I can waste time, be unproductive, and procrastinate all at the same time.
@The Liberal Moonbat I like that goddess of

An album cover possibly, obf?
I'm glad you enjoy it all.

Hi Social
Laying down on the job, are you …you should do it more often ; ) The image from below of the FSM is a symphony in symmetry, a true mission from god!
The music and video adds a nice spirit, thank you for all Social.
Thank you, Janis
Laying down on the floor was easy. Getting back up, not so much. It's a good thing the FMS descends slowly or I would have been little Spaghetti Monster meatballs.

Evening everyone
Some growth in the garden ...
Enjoy and be well all
Hi, Janis
Beautiful shot of the flower in the cup.
What is that growing in the garden? Is it edible?

It is edible
It is a leek flower which burst out of its sheath by morning,
Hi Janis!
Beautiful photos Janis Is the top one a flower about to open?
The pink one looks like Iris sorta. So delicate. Beautiful..
Thanks!
be well!

Hi d
It's a leek flower about to burst its delicate protective membrane.
There are two different flowers in the cup. The large frilly one is a Hibiscus, and the little very fragrant one is a miniature climbing rose named Cecile Brunner.
Be well and enjoy your flight ; )
the fractals in your pool shot
is quite pleasing from this
visual perception / perspective
thanks SP
question everything
Hi, Q
The ripples in the water created the fractals. The water on the other side of the fountain didn't have the ripples. Without the ripples the water was flat and the shot was pretty boring.

I had a bumper sticker
way back in the 60s that read "Question Authority".

Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.
Nice photography, SP
The photos are so crisp and inviting to look at.
I gave up my Canon AE1 decades ago and never invested in digital.
My brother has a nice digital Minolta but never uses it. I may try to pry it away and experiment.
Thanks for the pix.

Hi, e1
I hope you can get the Minolta from your brother. The best thing about digital cameras is the ability look at your shots right after taking them. If you don't like what you got, you can try again.

Hi pixelators
Hi all, Hey SP!
OUTSTANDING photos SP! Beautiful place, great artwork, and great shots of it!
I gotta fly so here is a quickie related to last weeks...
This is another shot of the Pride-of-Barbados flower, but with a Pipevine Swallowtail on it.
The blue wing is dorsal hindwing (R), the red semi-circle of spots is ventral hindwing (L). The worn brownish wing is ventral forewing (L), and the blacker one behind it dorsal forewing (R). It can help to understand what you are looking at....
With soooo many gods to choose from, I just can't make my mind up. Once at a Park Advisoty Board meeting in LA City, lots of officals, city, state, county, even Fed all there. I passed out comments I had written and a county dude said I need to use a capital G on god. I said mine is a small g.
Thanks for the OT and great tour SP!
happy trails all!

What a chaos of colour
and dynamism in a still image. Thanks d!
Hi, dystopian
Nice shot of a colorful butterfly on a colorful flower. Thanks for the breakdown of the wing structure. Very informative.

Very nice pictures on a variety of
different subjects. Sp, you're right. A lot of great fine art/sculpture and music is religious based. They've re-opened Notre Dame in France now that it has been repaired. The Cathedral at Chartres ain't too shabby, either. I actually walked around Westminster Abbey in London. It still is a working church, but was closed that day. Still, just walking around the grounds was a treat. jb has her usual paintings, err, photographs posted along with dystopian and Liberal (Surreal) Moonbat. This photo diary is a great spirit (LOL) lifter and start to my weekend. Thanks to you all! Rec'd!!
