Friday Night Photos Travelogue Pt2 Edition
Welcome to Friday Night Photos everyone. Your once a week break from the daily madness of the crazy world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest that helps you escape the madness.
One of the photo stops I made while I was in the Bay Area was at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville. When the museum opened in 1988 it was devoted exclusively to the automobile, but over the last ten years the menu has expanded to include exhibits of African art, Chinese art, the American West, and nature.
Tonight's menu item is the American West. The exhibit is split into two halves. One half is devoted to the Plains Indians and the other half to the white settlers. From a visual perspective I didn't find much of interest on the pale face half of the exhibit so all but the last photo are from the Plains Indian side, which I found to be more interesting.
War Clubs . The plain looking clubs were used in hand to hand combat, the fancy looking clubs were used for ceremonies.
Cheyenne Dog Soldier in war bonnet, war shirt, and leggings. Dog Soldiers were the elite military forces of the tribe.
Peace Pipes and pipe bags. The Peace Pipe was shared to begin new friendships, celebrate rites of passage, validate agreements between parties, and bless and honor new endeavors.
Close-up of shirt worn by Medicine Man/Woman. Some really fantastic handmade craftsmanship.
The arrival of the covered wagon and its occupants marked the beginning of the end for the Plains Indians and their way of life.

I think this fits in...
this is a video I put together about 10 years ago when The Evening Blues was still over at Daily Kos.
Hi, JtC
Great video you put together. I love all the artwork you found. It definitely fits in.

great series of Native dress and customs photos
enriching experience!
Hi, Q
I don't know if my faith would be re-established in health care if my medicine woman arrived in that get-up, but I sure would appreciate and admire all the work that went into making it.

Hi pixelators
Hi all, Hey SP!
GREAT photos SP! Very cool artifacts! Awesome stuff. Always great to see. Love their craftwork! It is always hard to shoot in displays too. At least to me.
Thanks for the OT. Back in a few with some pixels...
see ya shortly...

Shooting in diplays can be a pain
I had a little help from Photoshop to assist in cleaning up some of the annoying lights and glare.

Hi pixelators
Hi all,
Here's a couple cars at the 'show' last weekend that might have been somewhat Halloween themed. Or it could just be the people here in this quirky townlet.
A '72 Monte Carlo.
Beautiful interior, and a fine couple in it...

Thanks again for the OT, SP!

Hi, dystopian
I like the Halloween theme and occupants from your locale car show. Our weekly locale car show season just ended and won't start up again until April.

And the heel bone
Imagine seeing someone with that long bone off the heel.
If anyone looks at my jawbone after death they will expect that I went through some significant pain. Still has the wires in many places too. Yeah it hurt. Best thing for jaw pain is losing all your teeth.
Only hurts now when I try to eat chicken or chew gum.
