Friday Night Photos Travelogue Pt1 Edition

Welcome to Friday Night Photos everyone. Your once a week break from the daily madness of the crazy world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest that helps you escape the madness.

Earlier this month I went on a road trip to the San Francisco Bay Area for a family get together. The drive there, though long (8.5 hrs), went smooth most of the way. As is often the case, the traffic gods imposed the slow crawl toll to get through L. A. adding an extra hour of drive time. The rest of the drive was a breeze.
I had a wonderful time. It was great seeing family. Beautiful weather and a little time to get out with the camera while there added icing to the cake.
First up in the travelogue is a drive through 17-Mile Drive in Monterey, home to some of the most scenic coastline in Ca, 8 golf courses, and some really expensive homes.

Like you, my first visit to Monterey was about 50 years ago and you're right, it's grown.
Next years travel for the soul will be to either Oregon or Utah. I can't wait.

Hi all, Hey SP!

Awesome shots SP! Sounds like a great trop! Can't wait to see more. These are great photos! Of a place I have been numerous times. What a beautiful area that is. Used to bird up there a bit. Done a bunch of boat trips for seabirds in Monterey Bay. Pt. Pinos is the hot seawatching spot at south point of the bay. Those rocks are full of oystercatchers and other rockpipers. Often Black Guillemots along the drive from the point to the warfs. Sea Otters, are common there too. Best clam chowder I ever had was on the pier there at the harbor.

Here are a couple suggestions for a road trip...

I think this was a 43 Buick, but maybe was 30's. Note tumble seat.

There was a 'car show here last weekend at the park. Which here means it is the weekend everyone takes the old girls out of the garage and gives them a running, meeting at the park for the day. These are mostly all just hidden in garages around town...

hope all are well!

happy trails!

Those are some nice looking classics. If I could have one hiding in my garage it would be the red Model A Ford. It looks great with white walls. The blue split window coupe runs a close second.

What an amazingly beautiful area. I went there so many times, but my favorite was with my mom.

I bought her a necklace of the cypress tree which she eventually lost and I went back to Carmel to find it again. I spent the day going to every shop there and just as I was giving up I saw a shop down an alley and there it was. I’m wearing it now…fond memories.

I have a picture of the cypress tree before the wind damaged it. Might find it.

Also went to the ATT&T golf tournament a few times. Got some absolutely stunning pictures of Tom
Kite hitting out of the sand trap at #10 along the beach. In B&W.

Thanks for the memories. Great pictures as always.

Thanks for sharing your memories with us. Glad to hear you were able to find a replacement necklace for your mom. Hopefully you will get a chance to visit again and make some new memories.

Love those photos!! The Ghost and Lone Cypress are my two faves. They look like jb's photos, paintings. Smile I never got that far north back when my sis and her family lived in LA. Did ride a bit on the PCH, and man, that was some kind of beautiful! I never really was into cars, but dystopian's pictures are fun. I can see why the owners keep them in garages. Some looneytune (there are always a few) would try and steal one.

In other art news, Phil Lesh, founding member of the Grateful Dead, passed at 84. He was not in good health. I was never a Deadhead, but I liked their music.

This is the short version of this tune. I have the classic live jam, but 23 minutes is a bit long to post on here. Hope everyone is well. Slowly our storm season is coming to an end. Yahoooooo!!!! Rec'd! Smile

If you're ever in Northern Ca. put 17-mile drive on the itinerary. It's worth the $12 price of admission. It was a bummer finding out Phil Lesh past away. My brother is a big Deadhead and is probably in mourning this morning.
