Friday Night Photos Pedal Power Edition
Welcome to Friday Night Photos everyone. Your once a week break from the daily madness of the crazy world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest that helps you escape the madness.
In 1975 the city of San Diego built a velodrome (a track for cycling) in the northeast corner of Balboa Park. I figured since I've lived in San Diego or surrounding cities since 1977 it was about time to go check it out. Races are held Tuesday and Friday nights. Already having a regular Friday night online gig, I went last Tuesday night.
The track is a 333m banked oval. For those that don't do metric (raising my hand), 333m converts to 1092 ft or 1/5 of a mile. The bikes are single speed constant drive, which means the size of the front and rear sprockets determine top speed and unlike the bike you ride around the block on, there is no coasting/neutral. If the rear wheel is spinning, the pedals are turning.

those are some serious peddlers

there is a pack of them that go by on Sunday mornings
all noise, speed and spandex, just showing off and releasing
steam, I assume?

thanks for the biker shots!
Hi, Q.
When former governor Moonbeam (Jerry Brown) proposed putting in bike lanes he was laughed at and ridiculed. Today they're in every city and town and even on some freeways.
The only signs I've seen this election season are for local office. Nothing for Trump or Harris.

Hi pixelators
Hi all, Hey SP!
Great action/sport shots! They are much harder to do than might seem. GREAT shots man!

Get on my bike and ride...
Actually I gotta fly

a littler later on the 17th, I was chasing a moon shadow
Hope all are well!

Hi, dystopian
Nice sunset and moon rise shots. I did get a shot of the moon rising over the track but it didn't turn out worth a darn.
Love the music selections. I had the good fortune to see both live. Pink Floyd at a 60,000 seat stadium and Joe Satriani at a 150 seat venue.

moon shot
Thanks... yeah moon shots are hard. The one above was totally blown out and over-exposed on most of the moon, lost all the detail. But since it was the partial lunar eclipse, I kept it. It does well depict what it looked like through a telescope as far as extent of shadow goes. Of course it is an EARTH shadow, on the moon.
Yeah I saw the Pink Floyd twice (post Syd Barrett), and the first 3G tour with Vai, Johnson, and Satch. Lucky to see those types of musicians live in person.
Thanks for the OT!

For good moon shots
set your shutter speed to 1/500, aperture at f/8 and ISO to 200. That should get you in the ball park. If your shots are still overexposed increase shutter speed. If they are underexposed decrease shutter speed.

Sp, the more I see your photos of San Diego,
the more I regret not having the time to visit there. This was when my sister's family lived in LA. Like the tunes posted on here, too. Well, we are slowly getting through another storm season. So far, so good for my area. Climate damage is worldwide, and hurricane genesis is showing it. The Sahara got hit with rain so we didn't see the usual abundance of storm "seeds" coming off west Africa. Now it's the Caribbean and the GOM that we have to watch. One more month....thank you, Mother Nature. All the pics are good even though it's a slow day thread-wise. Take care everyone. Rec'd!!

Hi, obf
Glad to hear you've had a calm storm season so far. Hopefully the last month will be just as calm. It will be a while before our storm season, what little there is, begins.
