OT WE 26 AUG 24 ~ For love of country
Just picked up the latest Gabbard book. I like the title. She describes her feelings
about the democrat party and their shenanigans. To say she is disappointed is
an understatement.
The word has gotten out that the demo party has crossed over to the dark side.
Sensible politicians are escaping with their followers intact. If 50% of voters are
independent, this may serve as a warning to the major parties cheaters?
Prolly too late for the ptb to salvage their collective reputations. The rest is just an
exposure of conniving for those that choose to notice. To bring the voting majority
beyond the cheating margin will be the challenge.
This is not meant as an endorsement for the politically sensitive, just an observation.
I'm canvassing for Dr. Jill Stein in any case.
Open thread, so give us your best observations.

Hey all. bon dia

Didn't sleep much last night as the road laying machines were active.
The thumper roller was rattling the windows, the floors were vibrating
and the sound was similar to an active volcano. So slept in this AM.
Still kind of hazy.

Cheers!
That's hilarious, QMS! Few things in re politics are!

Up is down, right is left.
I seem to be without political identity nowadays.
Moreover, I do not feel motivated to get involved.
So far, the most decent and humane candidate is Stein.
While I can still say this without being criminally charged, I refuse to support any candidate that is a Zionist. I have visited 2 concentration camps, another 3 sites where a genocide or aparthied took place, and I will always do what I can to prevent one. While I am neither religious or spiritual, I had the sense I was being stared at by the dead.
They will not be forgotten or betrayed by me.
Thanks for the OT.

Good morning...
Jill on Alabama's ballot is still pending. Dims are a lost cause to me. No matter, Trump wins Alabama. The electoral college rigs the system, but it is created by the constitution.
Article II, Section 1, Clauses 2 and 3
If Bobby is on our ballot, and Jill is not, I may vote for him in hopes he can create a third party. Then again, I may not vote at all.
Speech censorship drives the ignorance of most Americans and all of NATOstan. Arrest Julian for wikileaks, arrest Pavel for telegram, will Musk be next? No platforms allowed the TPTB can't control. The Zuckbot apologizes for his Farcebook censorship provoked by Biden. Too little too late. However, he won't be arrested because he will censor.
Whatta system.
Been doing the summer pruning of the apples and chestnuts before the heat become excessive. We plan on catching a swim in the river this afternoon.
I hope all is well with you. Thanks for the OT!

Gotta run out for parts. Good thing is working in the basement - much
cooler than above ground. Downside, can't stand up so back suffers.
Oh well, such is life. My religion ..
A swim?
I attempted to find a place to stay this weekend at Crystal Beach near Galveston. The beach in Galveston is nasty. However, the beach homes were all very expensive, none with a real view of the beach. I guess we will just stay home.
sigh...

Hi all,
Hey Capt.!
Sorry about the rumble... I hate that kind of sound. I have no aversion to loudness, as my youth and guitar playing will attest. I love the din and cacophony of huge immense flocks of birds. Too bad it is so hard to make a basement deeper.
Here is a sample of my idea of good sound. I saw the original band do this once. Wore out my Meddle album. I think these guys did a good job with it though.

As a former born and raised Blue Dem, F them like they do the people, their democracy, and their choice. If I found them on fire I would not piss on them to put 'em out. Let me know if you want to know how I really feel.
Haven't watched the whole Tucker RFK jr. interview yet, maybe a quarter, but it seems outstanding.the whole 90+ minute interview, with apologies for the repeat if someone already posted...

spent many trips enveloped in that music way back when
the coming out of the democrat national circus will be their
downfall, I hope. Enough of their BS already.
Noise is one thing, but static is another.
My wife and I
made a pilgrimage to a rock show in town last night, one that I absolutely could not miss. The Mark Ramone Band (yes, that Marky Mark) played a basically unpublicized 1-off gig here in Denver. And as an old punk, there was no way I could blow that off. The Stones, I could skip- too rich for my blood. But Marky Mark in a small venue in my town? I'm *there*.
A solid hour and 15 of Ramones, done right: I daresay that they did the Ramones better than the original Ramones ever did. I saw them several times back in the day, and they were usually pretty dissipated. They threw Marky Mark out of the band in '83 due to his out-of-control alcoholism, in fact. But damned if he wasn't alive, back, clean and sober, and rippin' it *hard*. At age 73.
None of the original 4 are still alive, of course (Marky was their second drummer). Few of the replacement members are, either. The new Joey is still as skeletal as the original, the new Dee Dee is still solid (though inexplicably blonde), and the new Johnny spits on the stage every bit as well as the original. In this band, none of those three are out of their 30s, and they must be seriously living the dream with this gig.
But here's the thing: just like the original band when I saw them, there was no talking or tuning or futzing around- every song was counted off no more than 10 seconds after the last one, and usually within 1 bar... None of the original band's shows ever went longer than maybe 45 minutes. There it was: 29 songs in an hour and fifteen, and slamming. It was downright surreal to see all the other gray-hairs like me pogoing in the (somewhat abbreviated) mosh pit. I was very grateful for my new knees, lemme tellya...
It was a great trip back to the best part of the 70s on the East Coast. I was wicked bummed that my CBGB tee shirt was lost in the house fire, so I had to slum it in a more modern Death In The Shopping Malls shirt- that had survived the fire by virtue of having been used to wrap my car toolbox to keep it from rattling.
Oh, and there's an election going on- and none of the people there could care less about it. A *great* catharsis, and the perfect escapism for what ails me this season. As a drummer, it was very inspiring, and makes me want to go put a band together...
Carry on.

sounds like a good concert

glad you could 'make it' on your pogo stick
the things we lose over time add up to more
than we now have, which may be OK?
Something like that.
I guess that it felt very good to be "unburdened by what has been", even if only for an hour 15...

Good morning Cap'n Q, sorry 'bout all the grief.
The politics is just a different type and source of more grief. Luckily I have to make a wine run today, so that'll keep my mind off things except scenery and teaffic.
