Friday Night Photos Meditation Garden Edition

Happy Friday everyone. I hope everybody is doing well. Post any photos, memes, or music you like.

This month's camera club outing was at the Self-realization Fellowship Meditation Garden in Encinitas. Located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean, the garden has a wide variety of trees and plants, Koi ponds and plenty of benches where you can sit and relax (or meditate if that's your thing) and enjoy the garden and the view of the ocean.

@QMS
What fun being able to watch the little toads. I hear frogs in my yard from time to time but have yet to see one. They're very good little hiders.
I'm not sure what you're asking so I don't know how to answer your question about the music.

Beautiful paths and plant life. I especially enjoyed the sensation I felt when looking at the paths through dappled light, especially the patterns on the trees and path of the third photo. The shapes of the trees are beautiful.

I think all photographers find looking through the lens a highly meditative activity.

On the third and seventh photos I did a 5 frame exposure bracket to capture as much detail as possible in the shadows.
Cool Photo. It looks like a very stylish amoeba.

and for the association to an amoeba. I hadn't recognised that, but it's true.

Hi all, Hey SP!

GREAT photos SP! The place looks fantastic. Bet there are birds there in fall especially on good migrant days. Coastal green spots are gold mines for migrants in socal in fall.

The two with the pink flowers look like Pink Ladies' Slippers. The pale yellowish bells shaped flowers with the sharp leaves is a 'Spanish Dagger' type of Yucca. The rerd ones are Aloe, maybe Aloe vera but there are many types. The big green leaf looks an Elephant Ear. Interesting how in form alone, the cactus garden looks like a coral reef. Lots of brain corals, some columnar and pillar growth forms, some branching types, all very like what you see in corals on a reef.

The main item here is the big very pale gull in center with a pink bill with black tip. It is a first or second year Glaucous Gull. The browner one behind with the all black bill is a first-winter Glaucous-winged Gull. Glaucous-winged Gull is common in CA, Glaucous Gull is very rare, especially in socal. This was taken at my old stomping grounds and local patch, Harbor Pk. in L.A. Sorry about the poor quality from a slide...

@dystopian

So the rare gulls hang out with the common ones, how egalitarian gulls are ; ).

Now that you mention it, the cactus garden does look like a coral reef. The Spanish Dagger is a Yucca Whipplei, also known as our Lords candle.
Thanks for the rare Glaucous Gull. Lucky you for seeing it and getting a photo.

Looks like the east coast will be spared from Hurricane Ernesto. Hope you guys are as lucky for the rest of the storm season.

I like your strategy regarding hurricanes. I suppose it can be applied to life in general ; ).

Good luck!
