Friday Night Photos Garden Edition

Happy Friday everyone. I hope everybody is doing well. Post any photos, memes, or music you like.

It's been a mild spring here in the lower left corner this year. Normally by this time of spring the temps inland from the coast where I live would be hitting the low 80°. So far the temps have been in the low to mid 70s and the morning marine layer that usually burns off around mid morning is sticking around until early afternoon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this summer will be mild too. On the economic front, groceries are still expensive and a gallon of gas was $4.95 when I filled up the other day.

Wednesday of last week the camera club had it's monthly outing at the San Diego Botanical Garden, which, oddly enough, is not actually located in San Diego but about 20 miles north in Encinitas.

The garden has been run for years by a private foundation. Theland, the original plant collection and a homestead on the propertywere donated to the county of San Diego in 1957. The county managedthe place for about 30 years before it ran into budget problems andagreed to hand it over to the private foundation.

While there is no other San Diego Botanic Garden, there is afoundation with a similar-sounding name, Duval said. Anorganization that manages botanical group room rentals for the Casadel Prado building in Balboa Park is known as the San DiegoBotanical Gardens Foundation.

Hi all, Hey SP!

GREAT photos as always SP! They are all great! I'm going with #3 for my personal favorite. As Murray and Martin asked each other... "What the hell is that thing??" Wink Very neat1

Here are a couple to remind folks what low- and no- res pix look like...

My botanic garden is the yard and local envorons. I do have 100 species of plants on my yard list, which is two acres of highly disturbed all formerly over-grazed two acres. Can't be 10 trees so most are native wildflowers.

These first two are Mexican Hat. Which can be these two colors, or all maroon. Why did they not just call it Sombrero? Couldn't spell it? One the sepals are all open, the other most are yet to.

This is new for the yard, mysdys spotted it a couple weeks ago. Green Milkweed-Vine aka Pearl Milkweed.

The milkweed vine discovered by mysdys is also fascinating. Both the flowers are somewhat bizarrely structured ; ).

Smile Sure beats current events! I don't own any Dylan cos I never liked his voice. Now, I have a lot of Dylan covers. Needless to say, he was an iconic bard. Anywho, hope everyone is staying cool and safe this Holiday weekend. I'm staying parked at the obf casa. Rec'd!! Smile

I remember going to that botanical garden all of once, but the shot of the waterfall brought back a few memories. I moved out to California from the Midwest, with my then-GF, back in 1985. Stayed for seven years, pursuing a career path that went mostly nowhere. Moved back here in 1992, for love. But the botanical gardens, both in S.D., and just North of S.B. (which we re-Christened Saint Babs, or alternately, Saint Boo-Boo), stuck in my mind, along with some of those magnificent vistas that CA affords. The Sierras, PCH, Joshua Tree Nat. Monument, the deserts both high and low, the view from on top of Mt Tamalpias, or looking up from the base of Mt. Shasta, and Yosemite in Winter, with only about a dozen other people in the park... Wish I had pictures of all those places, but the only camera I had at the time was a polaroid; not really suited for landscapes!
Thank you, Socialprogressive, for these beautiful photos!
