“there is no humane way to rule people against their will.”
― Naomi Klein, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism

~

today in 1931 -- George End introduces “Genuine Diamondback Rattlesnake
with Supreme Sauce” in a can by his Florida Products Corporation;
the popular item ceases production in 1944 after the owner dies,
a victim of one snake's revenge.

~
~

The Shock Doctrine retells the story of the most dominant ideology of our time, Milton Friedman's free market economic revolution. In contrast to the popular myth of this movement's peaceful global victory, Klein shows how it has exploited moments of shock and extreme violence in order to implement its economic policies in so many parts of the world from Latin America and Eastern Europe to South Africa, Russia, and Iraq. At the core of disaster capitalism is the use of cataclysmic events to advance radical privatization combined with the privatization of the disaster response itself. By capitalizing on crises, created by nature or war, Klein argues that the disaster capitalism complex now exists as a booming new economy, and is the violent culmination of a radical economic project that has been incubating for fifty years.

introduced a bill to give US/Israeli dual citizens who are fighting in the Israeli army the same benefits as those extended to members of the US Army.

This is offensive on so many levels that I can find no words. They aren't fighting for us, so why the fuck should we pay them forever? As soon as you sign up for the Israeli army, you should surrender your US passport: you are no longer a dual citizen. Certainly if you were a dual US/Russian citizen, and you signed up for the Russian army, you should kiss your US citizenship goodbye.

Every day brings yet another slap in the face, as da gummint administers nation-state fellatio to the Israelis. Disgusting. Utterly disgusting.

Of course, every one of the thousands of AI's will come up with different answers. Humans have always had countess gods to choose from. They still do. One day, if they still survive, they will choose themselves. And then, humanity will begin to evolve consciously, and never look back at their troubled nest.

So, I've been told.

Although much has been twisted in translation by profiteering churches.

"Man created god in his image."

Interesting how the AI's get that right away, and come back with gods looking like men.

The low IQ monkey minds are too scared to accept the truth of their own authority. Instead, the overwhelming majority choose false gods, and they are dragged around by the Israelis, for example. Piece of cake for those with high IQs. Like Milton Friedman.

This alone is why this species is doomed to be dominated by psychopaths. Doomed to extinction.

I am amazed that Naomi Kline managed to to organize her vision into a book, but she did. And it tells a great story that is unfolding all around us:

In her book, Klein shows how Milton Friedman's ideology of Disaster Capitalism, disguised as the "free market economy" exploits cataclysmic events that are triggered by nature or war — moments of extreme social shock and violence — to suppress the rights of humanity and advance the radical privatization of the world's land, resources, and national assets.

Klein argues that the booming global economy that is owned the elites is the culmination of the Disaster Capitalism project that has been unleashed upon humanity in so many parts of the world — from Latin America and Eastern Europe to South Africa, Iraq, and Russia, which wrested itself free from the deadly trap (and is still doing so in Ukraine).

But not in China. Never in China.

What we have here, so I have been told, is the very real War of the IQs. The Friedman tribe has an IQ that averages about 15 points higher than the rest of Western civilization. It's an imbalance that has left a very long trail of historical consequences. The chinese, on the other hand, have an IQ that averages about 10-15 points higher that the Friedman crowd. (Unless you are familiar with the ongoing 17+ volumes of Joseph Needham's research on the subject, this phenomenon may be unknown to you.) What it means is that China will likely solve the pressing climate problems facing the world, if they can be solved at all. They will be the only source of rescue for much of the world. If you actually read the words of Xi Jinping (which almost no one does), then you already know that China has accepted this challenge on your behalf.

Unfortunately, this window for truth telling will be closing soon. But the truth will still be the truth.

But hey! Thanks for the R.E.M. I stayed and stumbled across "Everybody Hurts."

Performed live in London's Hyde Park on the 2nd July, 2005. Organised by Sir Bob Geldof and The Band Aid Trust to raise money to fight poverty around the world, the event was viewed by around 2 billion people.

.
This effort failed. Completely.

But fifteen years later, the Chinese eradicated poverty. And China proceeds forward everyday with the BRI, the largest international infrastructure project ever attempted, to help end poverty throughout the world. It is the complete opposite of Disaster Capitalism. Every country it has touched so far has achieved a tremendous economic boost. This, of course, is not reported in the West. This is why the countries of the world are switching sides, in case you wondered.

Meanwhile, twenty years later, in the United States, poverty and homelessness is on the rise and fast being criminalized. What do you think that means?

The forces of elite greed and exceptionalism are desperate to attack and destroy China. Why?

China is determined to bring a shared prosperity to all humankind, regardless of their choice of government or religion. But that leaves no room for multi-trillionaires and their hired psychopaths to rule the world.

Even for brains filled with lies and propaganda, this shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

What I don't know is if seeing the big picture will make any difference, at this point.

While there are undoubtedly exceptions to this statement of mine, I’d much prefer the guidance and government of an actively questioning and well meaning idiot over the brilliant (and financially successful) Hi IQ’s who have every reason to ride their privileged positions to the bitter end, even if it requires the extermination of 90% of those of lesser intellect.

Perhaps this a moot point. Our Sun’s recurring periodic solar flares and mini novas will likely continue to ‘reset’ the human experiment until we humans manage to get our act together.

The picture from Sensorium was fabulous, so I checked the linked Colossal page - Wow. E-mailed the link to my wife who also said wow, but opined that it would clearly be best at night, with which I concur. We will be in the area in early June (Cambria), so it was a possibility. Sadlu, right now, it is still "dusk" in Paso at 8:36 pm so taking it in, starting from maybe 9:00 and spending at least an hour and then driving to Cambria is pretty much out for us, not a single freeway mile in the route, partly HWY 1 if you get the image. Anyway, on the trip down we drive right by it in daytime. There is a pretty cool slideshow of the current installation, also way cool, here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g32861-d17482264-Reviews-o...

Have regular spring chores + house guests arriving soon, followed by visiting nephew, and then Cambria trip. so I'd best get with it.

I can't remember where I heard about/watched a video, haven't done research as yet, but Klein was being ripped by some commentators about her drift from Shock Doctrine, which was praised, to something she doesn't have the credentials to understand. The consensus was she has gone the propagandist route. Maybe a month ago? Is it just me, or has anyone else read or heard about her sort of dark turn?
Anyway, I want to get the book and read it eventually.
Thanks for the OT, dear friend.

Once an icon, now a nutjob propagandist, is all I can remember.
In any event, if she steers away from the shock doctrine, where she is supurb, bar none, I will be skeptical. I might read a review of her newest book, "Doppelganger", focusing on how she was constantly confused with Naomi Wolfe. Maybe that criticism was what I saw.

Klein lost everything she knew when she wrote shock doctrine and she was in favor of all COVID policies and especially keeping kids out of school. And she developed a raging hatred of Naomi Wolfe because people kept mixing them up a she disagreed with everything she said. And that’s what her book Doppelganger is about. But she has changed her views a bit so there’s that.

I’ll look to see if I can find my comment.

@snoopydawg of Klein's book about Doppelganger. I actually ran across her swift turn elsewhere, possibly Zerohedge? Redacted?

It was totally independent of anything on this site, and I even thought about writing an OT using the info, deleted it, moved on.
Sorry QMS disagreed with you, and like I said, I am very sorry I brought it up. I thought there was some possibility others had read about her losing her high status, and abruptly going south with her writing. I was hoping someone would direct me to the site and info I know I saw.

in real time. This is what happens to writers that go beyond the bounds of
acceptable dialogue. Disaster capitalism is a thing that may get the ptb's
panties in a bunch. If so, then their vain glorious goals of perception management

@QMS I believe I was doing some searches to my regular website stuff, ran across info that Klein, after being so damn right, had drifted away, suggesting she had gone full on propagandist on another subject entirely, except I can't remember where, what whom, or even the trend topic Klein was taking. I actually thought it would have been a thing, that others here had noticed as well. It had nothing to do with anything Snoopy said and I do not remember anything that actually connected any poster to this sight, and the huge diss I read/watched about Klein. Wish I could remember, and my history on my 'puter doesn't go back that far.
NOBODY would disagree about Klein's take on disaster capitalism. Not here, not even on the video I watched.
I am sorry I even brought it up now. The gist of it was what happened to Klein, the veritable genius, as though someone or something got to her.

When someone with authentic credentials like Naomi Klein writes publicly, with self-reflection and questioning about their personal experience, I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have only read a fairly long excerpt from Naomi Klein’s book Doppelgangers. I’d like to think that her questioning is authentic, and maybe even an example of how we can all as individuals try to understand and integrate what we know intuitively and knowledgeably, in a more complex context. There is so little that we can be assured of in this time of exposure to black OR white views, that it’s natural to question others. I think if we apply the same rigour to questioning ourselves we can possibly feel more assured in our beliefs.
