So how does a work stoppage transform into a peaceful demonstration and morph into
a riot? If history is to believed it was those darn pinko commie socialists that were just
asking for a whupping. Which lead to the Haymarket Affair.

Similar as today. Peaceful campus demonstrations bring out the cops in riot gear.
Instead of the pinkos, today it is the anti-semenites and Rooskie spies causing the
unrest. Cheaper to crush the opposition, as Pinkertons have been replaced by
agent provocateurs on Israels dime.

Let the way of the OT bring forth your inner radicands.

Workers of the world unite. No job? No problem. More available time to
demonstrate. Careful what you write on your sign tho. Free speech is a
punishable offense.

cheers!

Hey Capt.!

Hope it's all good out there! Thanks for the OT

I always hoped that when the big one fell it was on my head. So... nice hat lady.

I liked this one...

Happy trails all!

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

the US has developed a knack for pushing slimy presidential
candidates down our throats. Crooked Joe or showman Don.
If these are best and brightest, maybe a third grade doggie
would be an improvement? MAYDAY! Fire in the hole ..

There is no justice. There can be no peace.

I think I am accidentally involved in a criminal case with several other attorneys that may uncover some criminal activity on the part of a sheriff and some county officials.
I sometimes wish to pack up and move. However, I would just wind up in a new town and would not know who the crooks were, or who the powerful families were.
Sigh...
I would have a tough time trying to advise a high school grad what college to attend. None promote excellence in education. They promote their products or ideas.
Take care, my friend!
Thanks for the OT.

@on the cusp I believe that only 40% of college grads are males. Seems to be among the "manosphere" types that trades are the way to go. Problem is how to develop a trades skill. Old fashioned vocational high schools are no more. My high school had shop classes in carpentry, auto mechanics, machine shop, drafting, etc. Females not allowed to attend but had classes in bookkeeping, cooking, typing, etc.'

My brother started off as machinist apprentice with local union. He worked factor job and then took classes paid for by the union until he became a master machinist. The local community college offers a number of two year certificates in various trades.

But then with de-industrialization of the country, where are the jobs.

my brother is a master machinist and they can not find enough
trained help (in FL). Companies around here are begging for
carpenters, electricians, plumbers and mechanics. There are
some trade schools in the area, but not many qualified teachers.
If you work a trade, are you going to get an education certificate
just so you can help train the next generation workforce? I tried
that route and it is ridiculously restrictive. Journeyman does not
relate to teacher without an education degree on top.

OK, number of things going wrong around house going agley are multiplying near exponentially, so much to curse about & so little time. Ah well, so much for that. Maybe I'll make a list and prioritize them which will put them off yet another day. Wink

The whirled, the Ukies, Israel, Ecuador and wherever else the US is provoking grief and causing trouble is, to a large degree, beyond our control, and no, voting won't fix it. Representative democracy is a myth because nobody represents the people and their replacements won't either. 'Ahhh, but if you don't like them you can vote them out.' but so what? The damage is done, their replacements won't repeal all their wrongdoing, but merely expand and compound it.

1886 -- US general strike for 8-hour working day begins
Mebbe we need a general strike on general principle, nothing else ever seems to work.
Huelga?

It's May Day, but also, too, m'aidez!

Ah well, off to start to fix what I can.

be well and have a good one

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

@enhydra lutris when asked, "How are you?"
He say,m "I am looking down at the grass, not up at the roots, so I call that good." I am having a happy b'day, thanks, friend.
My first text of the happy b'day texts deluge was at 5 a.m. My pal forgot about the time zone difference.
The dining out tonight plan is dashed due to forecast of rain and floods. A nearby dam is very near the point where the lake is even with it. There are already road closures in 2 counties.
I think today I will have my cake and eat it, too!
