One of the best ways to achieve justice is to expose injustice.

-- Julian Assange

Today is the second (and last) day of Julian's trial to appeal the extradition request
by the US in a London courtroom. For the spurious charge of exposing lies.
State Secrets are apparently considered proprietary. What are your thoughts on
the possible outcome of these hearings?

I read somewhere that one of the 2 presiding judges had worked in the British spy agency, or at least held some position that was associated with it. In other words, I do not remember the particulars, but remember it gave me the impression that judge will be predisposed to disappear Assange in favor of government secrecy.
Miracles happen. This would be a great day to see one.

Yes, the junior justice in this case, Jeremy Johnson,
is a former barrister representing MI6.

The Establishment politico-legal nexus was on even more flagrant display today. Presiding was Dame Victoria Sharp, whose brother Richard had arranged an £800,000 loan for then Prime Minister Boris Johnson and immediately been appointed Chairman of the BBC, (the UK’s state propaganda organ). Assisting her was Justice Jeremy Johnson, another former barrister representing MI6.

The odd bit to my mind is the extradition treaty specifically disallows political offenses.

..opening with the fact that the US/UK Extradition Treaty specifically excludes extradition for political offences, at Article IV.

“The outrageous part of the UK’s years-long ‘trial’ to condemn Julian Assange to die in an American dungeon is that the victim of his ‘crime’ (journalism) is a state rather than a person–the definition of a political offense, which the US-UK extradition treaty explicitly forbid,” NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden said on X (formerly Twitter).

If the appeal fails, Assange will apply to the European Court of Human Rights and seek a Rule 39 order to stop the extradition while it considers the case, Stella Assange has said.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

@dystopian I am wondering what happens when early voters and regular primary voters casts votes for candidates that win the primaries, but do not appear on the November ballots.
I am certain the DNC and RNC have a plan in place.
Fun song, in a gallows humor sort of way!

I’ll never understand why anyone whose ancestors were abused would join with their oppressors.

Madura backed up Lula's saying that Israel is committing another holocaust. He reminded the world that powerful American families supported Hitler too.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Voting is like driving with a toy steering wheel.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Those powers are vested exclusively in the Executive and the courts.

Just refilled my BP meds; 100 days worth, damn certain I'll need them and a couple further refills, at a minimum, if I keep paying attention to world events.
