Biden news 2/1/2024

So Joe is allegedly planning a weeks-long bombing campaign against "Iran targets":

Maybe it's just Iranian proxies in Syria and Iraq. It's hard to say, and Simplicius argues that Team Biden's approach is incoherent. Simplicius also brings the news that Joe Biden's Ukraine bill remains in deadlock in Congress.

The Independent is running this story about a poll which claims that Biden is now ahead in the overall popularity race. Maybe this is because Team Biden is saying "abortion" a lot. I would have to imagine that the women who are being suckered by all of this talk will eventually figure out that abortion is now only an issue for state politics. It doesn't seem to matter a lot if Joe Biden is losing in the swing states.

Thomas Friedman, the pop-neoliberal author, is out there proclaiming a Biden doctrine for the Middle East. Maybe it will wait until the wider war is over? I guess there's supposed to be a "demilitarized Palestinian State" in the package. Is the idea to find some useful idiot to say "I am Palestine" and to give that person a seat at the table along the lines of, say, Lichtenstein or Andorra, while nothing else changes? There are also supposed to be some sanctions on violent settlers, though this report is from the Times of Israel, so who knows?

The Economist is reporting that Nicolas Maduro is thumbing his nose at Joe Biden. I have no idea why The Economist thinks the claim that Nicolas Maduro is a "dictator" is at all believable.

Apparently Joe Biden will lose to Greg Abbott in the Texas border standoff.

Tara Reade, Joe Biden's one-time sexual assault victim, is ostensibly suing the Justice Department. I have no idea how she does this from Russia, where she is exiled.

Cornel West, one of Joe Biden's opponents in the November election, is now trying to form a political party. Here's Due Dissidence upbraiding Cornel West for not having made this move a lot earlier:

There were plenty of people in the alternative media telling Cornel West that he would need an alternative partisan structure if he were to run anything more than a vanity campaign. Of course, an "elect Cornel West and do nothing else" party is not a "moment in a movement."

To be fair, Due Dissidence is not telling you about states in which, presumably, Cornel West is running as a candidate in other parties which have yet to make decisions about their candidates. He is, for instance, running for the nomination of the Peace and Freedom Party of California, which will hold its primary March 5, although I gather this is a beauty-contest primary and the real decision will be made at the convention in August. I've been to one of these P&FP conventions. They're small.

It would appear anything that moves in the Middle East (except Israel)
is an Iran Backed Terrorist. Or maybe that is too simplistic for nuance.

Truth be told, there are many US/CIA backed terrorists in the middle east
including Israel. But that is not even a consideration in the MSM. Weeks of
bombing campaigns may erase the illegal US bases in Syria, Iraq and other
noncompliant states, but it will not look good for Team Biden.

@QMS In Syria, militias armed by the Pentagon fight those armed by the CIA

There's probably something more recent on this matter on al Jazeera.
