Transgender Day of Remembrnce it a day to remember all of the transgender people killed as a result of prejudice and hatred. It is also a day to raise wareness of the fact that transgender people not only exist but are people's friends and family, coworkers and neighbors. I have never known any transgendeer persons and hence will say very little more on the topic, which I sersiously feel would be a socially salubrious posture for most similarly ignorant people to take, especially those who run around pontificating on this and that when all they are doing is projecting.

International children's day and Absurdity day both seem appropriate.
Watch: Israeli children sing, “We will annihilate everyone” in Gaza
The sweet faces of children make an incongruous accompaniment to the genocidal lyrics of the so-called Friendship Song 2023.
“Autumn night falls over the beach of Gaza, planes are bombing, destruction, destruction,” the children sing in angelic voices. “Within a year we will annihilate everyone, and then we will return to plow our fields.”

Whatta world. Too sad.

Thanks for all the music and OT!

@Lookout

indeed. I think the originating idea of Absurdity Day was to foster the expressin of absurdity, to get some, and the appreciation thereof, into our lives. Today's world, however, has become absurd beyond our reckoning; Becket and Ionesco would be speechless. Having really dived deep into that movement, and dada too, I stand awestruck by what I see around me every day, incomparable lunacy and chaos. All hail Eris!

you know the thing...

Hi all, Hey EL!

Hope it's all good on the western front.

I see a SECOND Eastern Towhee report in CA again this year. From the same place, Jacumba, as the one a year or two ago. You may have heard of that place? Guy McCaskie, San Diego and CA birding guru, saw it, and I think maybe his 500th species IN San Diego County. He is a godfather of modern birding in CA.

When I met him, about 67 I think, at Myers Ranch in the Tijuana River Valley right on our side of the fence along the bluffs. The TJRV is a famous eastern vagrant place esp. in fall. His binocs had all the black covering worn off and were mostly shiny bare metal. He was on his back looking up into a 4' dwarf Lemon tree. Not yer average birder. Got up brushed himself off, introduced himself, and said he had just had and lost, a Canada Warbler. We couldn't find it, dang it.

Great sounds man! You outdid yerself. Smile Huge fan of "Their Satanic Majesties Request" here. Love that Alan Sherman, he was great. The Marco Oppedisano was fantastic too! Thanks for the great soundscape.

Poor Edward. Imagine dying a martyr, but no ones knows what for? Seems a paradox? Doesn't it defeat the purpose? I would hate to waste my martyrdom like that. I'd want 'em to know my suffering. Smile

Off and on I hear the Long-eared Owl here, now back for its THIRD winter in the area. It is a accidental bird in the south half of Texas. If it wasn't all private property there would be a parade of birders looking... so dodged that bullet.

The Rio Grande Valley bird festival last week turned up TWO Roadside Hawk, a Bare-throated Tiger-Heron (3rd US record), and in Corpus Christi now, a potential US first Cattle Tyrant. Which is well filmed running around downtown. If it doesn't get rejected for questionable origins, be the first US record.

this concludes the bird report.

have good ones all!

@dystopian @dystopian

is far better than most of the populace does. About 1 mile N of the border and sort of more or less half way between Mexicali and TJ.

"Their Satanic Majesties Request" is a long time fave, since it first came out. In fact I listened to it hot off the press down at my brother's house on vitamin L while on xmas break in '67. Played it on a super stereo system, McIntosh solid state stack driving twin voice of the theaters surmounted by an array of Altech horns. Fired up a colorized version of War of the Worlds on TV with the sound off to watch as background visuals.

I know what ya mean about Edmund, forever remembered for being not quite unknown.

Thanx for the bird report

@enhydra lutris Hey EL!

I'd have guessed only you and SP would know Jacumba. Smile

Those Voice of the Theater were amazing. Now THAT is analog sound! The singer in the band that was our gang when I was 18-19 in Hunt. Bch. got it for his PA, Altec Lansing VotT, was the best. What sound.

And now a Mottled Owl was just recorded on the Rio Grande, 3rd U.S. record, but some unsubmitted reports in addition. Such as one I saw July 20, 1986, at the SAME DANG PLACE this one is at! But got no photo so never turned it in. It would have just been trashed as a sight report. But there are no Barred Owl south of the Corpus Christi area, 150 miles north. Never been one seen on Rio Grande. If you see a brown-eyed owl down there, it is red alert time.

vaya con dios amigo!

https://bnn.network/conflict-defence/south-africa-requests-icc-to-issue-...

South Africa’s government, in an unprecedented move, has implored the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The deadline for this action is set for mid-December, signaling a bold stance from the African nation. The call was voiced by the Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, who cautioned that a failure to issue the warrant would correspond to a collapse in global governance systems.

South Africa Joined by Other Nations
South Africa’s appeal to the ICC is not a solo endeavor. Other nations, namely Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros, and Djibouti, have joined hands in submitting a referral to investigate alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. This collective effort underscores the international debate surrounding Netanyahu’s actions and the ongoing situation in Gaza.

Escalation in Diplomatic Relations
In a further escalation, South Africa has begun the process of withdrawing its diplomatic staff from Israel. Additionally, it has cast doubt on the continued acceptability of the Israeli ambassador in Pretoria. This development marks a clear indication of the strained relations between South Africa and Israel.

Unsurprisingly we get this reaction from Israel war crimes r us

Yeah, infrastructure failures, poverty, homelessness,
financial collapse are major issues in the US. But let's
just focus on the needs of Ukraine? Don't think so.

but I’m totally against children who under go surgery to lop off body parts. No one should have their bodies changed until they are old enough to understand the consequences. We have an age limit for so many things because kid’s minds aren’t developed enough to understand what things mean. If kid’s can’t drink or join the military until 18 they shouldn’t be allowed to have surgeries that are irreversible until they are are adults.

@snoopydawg ...with "transtrenders" and their Allies™ who take the occasion to barnstorm websites and MMOs that don't revolve around them to basically throw the Internet-equivalent of a belligerent football riot - any complaint/dissent about/from this is met with mob-bullying and presumption of guilt, because they've been taught they're invulnerable. This is to say nothing of what they've done to J. K. Rowling and anyone else who says 'boo' to them.

I have far, FAR more cause to be directly sympathetic to "morphic liberationists" than most ever will, but this has basically become Popper's Paradox in full effect; what started as a liberation movement has been infiltrated and consumed by a cult. Older people often don't get it, and refuse to believe it, because it's all so alien and backwards; who EVER would've expected transsexuals, of all groups, to become a fascist vanguard??? Perhaps anybody familiar with the Robber's Cave experiments, which proved you can make a group identity, complete with limitless hatred for the Other, out of a sow's ear.

Rush Limbaugh's opium-nightmares have come to life, and as others have already observed, the blowback to all this is going to be epic. Think of the trajectory of America's reputation from 2001-now, and all the reasons why; this has Neocon stink all over it.
